Maison De Tourelle is one of two adjoining but independent self-catering holiday homes with shared use of the swimming pool (12m x 6m) and the park style garden, which is just over an acre in area. They are conveniently located next to a popular restaurant. The homes are part of a former chateau situated in a quiet riverside hamlet in the Cerou Valley in rural south western France, 8km from the medieval town of Cordes sur Ciel and about 20kms from the cultural town of Albi with its famous cathedral and the Toulouse Lautrec museum. Toulouse International Airport is just over an hours drive away, or Rodez Airport is a little closer taking about... 45 minutes.

The holiday homes are available to be let individually sleeping 2 to 8 people, or together offering the flexibility to be used by larger groups or extended families accommodating 12 to 16 people. All bed linen is provided and beds will be arranged to best meet your needs and made up for your arrival. You will need to provide your own bath and pool towels.

Both properties have a completely different style and unique character. The Maison De Tourelle is the oldest of the two properties, full of character, including the beautiful stone spiral staircase within the impressive 13th century tower leading to the bedrooms. Much of the medieval character has been retained with beamed ceilings in most rooms and a large open fireplace in the living room. The property is on 3 levels, with the living/dining room and kitchen on the ground floor and the master bedroom with en-suite bathroom on the first floor. The second floor has a further large double room with en-suite shower room, and a smaller twin room with en-suite toilet. This home can accommodate up to 8 people.

The property can be accessed from the garden to the rear or the courtyard to the front. From the rear of the property, there is a dedicated patio area from which you enter the gated archway and door into the kitchen. This is well equipped with a pantry, dishwasher, washing machine, gas hob, fridge and rotisserie oven, with all the necessary crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils to cater for at least 8 people. A welcome pack including basics such as milk, bread, cheese and a bottle of wine will also be available for your arrival.

The kitchen leads through into a beautiful lounge/dining room, with a black and white tiled floor, beamed ceiling and extraordinarily large open fireplace. This room provides a comfortable seating area and dining table seating 8, and is a bright room with windows to the front and side as well as patio doors leading onto the courtyard. A FreeSatTV/DVD player and CD/radio system, as well as a few games and books are provided for your entertainment just in case you need to get out of the sun one day.

From the lounge you enter the tower, which takes you up the stone spiral staircase to the first floor and a large master bedroom (7.2m x 4.2m). This room has its own private balcony with beautiful views overlooking the rear garden. The master bedroom leads through to a small hallway, which provides access to a spacious en-suite bathroom, with twin basins, toilet, bidet, large bath and walk in wardrobe. From the small hallway there is access to another balcony with stairs down to the front courtyard. This room is generally set up as a double room with king size bed, but is large enough to be used as a family room with additional single beds or a cot being provided and made up as required.

Venturing further up the tower takes you to the second floor leading firstly to a smaller bedroom (2.7m x 3.2m) with twin beds ideal for adults or children, with an en-suite toilet and washbasin. This room has benefits from one of the best views over the rear garden due to its 2nd floor height. The room is generally set up with 2 single beds one of which can be replaced by a cot if required.

The next doorway from the tower leads into a large double room (4.5m x 4.4m) with a side window overlooking the courtyard. This room generally has twin single beds but could also be used as a family room with an additional bed/cot being provided if required.   Our 4th visit to this location and property and always well presented and prepared for our arrival. The house is certainly large enough to comfortably accomodate family of 6 with large rooms and all the modern ammenities provided to make your stay as stress free as possible. The two large shower rooms (1 up and 1 down) minimise any long waits for the bathrooms, especially before and after a long day either by the pool or exploring the beautiful surrounding countryside. Kitchen facilities again make the self catering element very easy (dishwasher / washing machine) to manage your stay without feeling tied to the sink or worrying about running out of clean clothes. Although there is no oven - the hob and microwave can accomodate most dishes to feed a family - there is always the option to eat out - or enjoy plenty of fresh salads and French cuisine. Outside is a very pleasant shared (with guests of the other 2 properties) courtyard which also has a BBQ provided which makes a very pleasant evening to sit and soak up the peace and tranquility of the garden.
  The Restaurant next door is now under new ownership and although the menu is deliberately limited and varied day to day - provides very good quality food and wine for very good value comparative to what you might pay for something very 'average' and a lot more expensive in either Monesties or Cordes (allow 20 Euros per head). Recommended, but you need to book ahead.
  The location is beautiful, quiet and relaxing and the pool definitely compliments the whole experience perfectly. The potential hot temperatures during the summer make this the cherry on the cake for this location.
  Local shops (Monesties) can provide pretty much all you need, you just need to check when they're open, or further afield (Carmeaux) there are larger supermarkets. The surrounding area can provide plenty of activities or just sightseeing - recommend albi, Gaillac, Penne, St antonine.
  4th visit - is the best recommendation you can get.

  Peace at Last

  2011 was our 4th visit to Janine and Tony's place in Salles. The owners always make us feel more like family friends than customers. David, the building supervisor, is flexible and attentive. This year three of us stayed in La Grange, a capacious aircraft-hanger of a building, light and airy and cool in the hottest of weather. We have previously stayed in both other units, both of which are splendidly equipped and each unusual in its own way. But no-one's indoors for long this far south. The real delight of the chateau is the mature, extensive, secluded garden, private pool and its accompanying shade. The immediate area is quiet, rolling and rural, while more dramatic scenery is nearby at bastides like Cordes-sur-Ciel and Najac and in the dramatic gorges of the Viaur and aveyron. The bustling city of albi is a short drive, and the amazing market town of Villefranche about 45 kms. We fell in love first time around, about 5 years ago and will probably return every year for the forseeable future. What better recommendation is there than that?

  L'accueil a été très chaleureux et amical. Le site est calme et les logements charmants et confortables. Il y a 2 ans nous avions loué la maison de tourelle et nous avons loué cette année les 3 logements pour des vacances en famille...idéal pour passer des vacances tranquilles et faire une coupure bénéfique avec le quotidien!!! terrain vaste pour permettre aux enfants, en sus de la piscine de profiter des jeux disponibles.
