    Additional Location Information

La Nou is situated 7 Km inland and just a short drive from the wide sandy beaches of Torredembarra and Altafulla. The old Roman capital city of Tarragona is less than 20 min away, and the Cistercian monasteries of Poblet, Santes Creus and Montserrat are all within an hour's drive. For younger visitors the Port Aventura Theme Park is only half an hour away. La Nou is a lively village with a bar serving simple inexpensive midday meals, there is also a small village store, bakers, hairdresser, pharmacy and bodega selling wonderful Priorat wines. The house is located in the 'casco antiguo' and with no through traffic is very peaceful. Visitors have the opportunity to experience Catalan village life with the benefit of beautiful beaches and good restaurants close at hand. Inland there is wonderful scenery and fascinating villages to be discovered. We recommend La Siurana, Miravet and Prades and the Ebro Valley and for wine lovers there is the opportunity to visit the wineries of the Priorat region.
Barcelona is less than an hour away, and there is an excellent train service from Torredembarra if you want to leave the car behind.
Reus is our closest airport - just 25 minutes, and Barcelona Airport is only 70 kms. away. We recommend you hire a car. There is a car parking space outside the house and additional free parking nearby.
Two bikes with helmets are available for guests' use.

      True quality.

Left on 05/08/2013 for a stay in May 2013

Cal Pep is more than a rental villa, it's an experience. With obvious great care, the owners have rebuilt/restored the house in a contemporary style internally while carefully preserving the traditional feel and architectural detail. It's a really special place to spend a week or two.

The house is quality-built and outfitted with all the modern amenities, and is very comfortable. The downstairs has a sunny semi-open plan with a well-appointed kitchen and a nice indoor/outdoor flow. Upstairs, the beds and linens were of a very nice quality and, as we were staying with a mix of family and friends, we especially appreciated the en-suite baths. We also enjoyed the many special touches such as a thriving herb garden. As other reviewers have pointed out, the place is every bit as fabulous as it looks in the photos.

La Nou itself is a charming little hillside village with a thousand years of history, and Cal Pep commands a privileged location right in its historic centre. The view from the expansive terraces looks northwest over a valley quilted with vineyards and olive groves and there is a network of walking/biking paths, accessible just down the hill from the house, that meander through this beautiful landscape. It's just a quick hop by car to Torredembarra and only slightly longer to Tarragona, and believe me even after visiting these spectacular places you will look forward to winding your way back to Cal Pep to relax and enjoy the house. Overall, Cal Pep and its pastoral setting represent a real value compared to a beach house rental of similar quality in the area, and we could not have been happier with the choice to stay there.

Finally, Maggie (owner) was wonderful to deal with, and the local couple who helped us with check-in/check-out couldn't have been nicer.

      Extraordinary peace and comfort

Left on 08/26/2012 for a stay in August 2012

We are a family of six with four teenage boys and this was probably one of the best places we have ever stayed in. The house is beautiful: large, airy and clean. It is very well-equipped and the owner is very friendly. The views are absolutely spectacular and the peace of the area just seeps into tired bones and souls and revives the body. The village is very friendly and the food and beaches are both spectacular. We'd like to return in winter to enjoy the walking.

Fabulous House in Quaint Spanish Village

Left on 08/22/2012 for a stay in July 2012

Words fail you when you arrive at this house, which is ideally situated in a small village only an hours drive from the vibrant Barcelona, and only half an hour from the popular Port aventura Theme Park. The house is quite spectacular, and is basically a 'home from home'. The owner is a pleasure to deal with, and is easily contactable. No problems in receiving the keys to start a super holiday. The house has lots of space, is modern and fresh, and is accurately described on the website. My children made good use of the table tennis table in the basement and freeview on the main television. The village is picturesque and safe, with an excellent Bakers shop. We enjoyed going to the 'life-guard supervised' beach in Torredembarra and also sampled some of its restaurants ( when not cooking in the house's wonderful kitchen ). We even used the public outdoor swimming pool in the next village. The house is ideally positioned for exploring the surrounding area, or alternatively enjoy the comforts of the house and have a relaxing break in a lovely little Spanish village !

      Beautiful House

Left on 08/20/2012 for a stay in August 2012

Cal Pep is a beautiful place to stay. The house is just as impressive as it appears on the website, perhaps more so on arrival (we walked from room to room just saying wow for a good 10 minutes...) The kitchen is extremely well equipped and everything works! The bedrooms are all spacious and ensuite. There are spectacular views from all windows.
We found the owners a pleasure to deal with and very helpful. La Nou de Gaia itself is a delight- neat and tidy with facilities including a well-stocked shop and a baker's within walking distance. There is enough to do and see nearby and a day trip to Barcelona is relatively easy on the train. Thoroughly recommended.

What an amazing, beautiful home! Fantastic design, tremendous views, modern, comfortable and plenty of room for our family. We loved it! The location is also wonderful. Close to the beach yet removed from the tourist crowds. The house is located up on a hill in the small town of La Nou De Gaia. Very relaxing and very picturesque. Also close to Port adventura amusement park in nearby Tarragona and a great launching point for a day trip to Barcelona. We received excellent service, maps and tips from the owner prior to our visit. Definitely a memorable vacation!

      What a fabulous holiday!

Left on 03/21/2012 for a stay in March 2012

We have just spent a few lovely relaxing days at Cal Pep. The house itself is stunning, extremely modern and well finished on the inside and yet retaining its Catalan features on the ouside. The terraces all have stunning views and are the perfect place to sit and while away the time. There is a local baker who cooks daily, the croissants put together with freshly squeezed orange juice make the perfect way to start the dayl

The local restaurants (and those further away) serve delicious food and the house is near enough to the sea to enjoy a beach stroll or swim and sunbathe in warmer weather.

Cal Pep is also near to Barcelona and Tarragona both lovely historic cities to explore. Al in all a perfect place to spend a holiday.
