Very good cottage, views to bay from rear of property. Short walk to seashore, great walks often spotting wildlife including eagles and deer. Remote location in quiet village ensures peace and opportunity to recharge batteries. Many excellent restaurants nearby to sample scottish fare. Tarskavaig is a place you'l want to return too again and again.

Excellent stay in a lovely tucked away cottage with wonderful views . The cottage was very very well equipped with almost anything one can think of .
The Kitchen was great with excellent cooker and even dishwasher . the cottage had plenty of room and yet was cosy . The views from Lounge were over to the sea and islands .
The Location , was tucked away in the tiny village tarskavaig and very quiet about a 10 minute stroll to the sea shore .
The roads to Tarskavaig are wonderful but a a bit of a adventure and if you are not keen on driving then maybe it would be a challenge .
I loved the roads and despite narrow and blind summits i enjoyed the experience and had no problems.
It was not cold but we had open fire each evening just for the effect and cosy feeling .
The cottage was spotless clean and well prepared by the lady who looks after the place.
If you have a dog as we did as long as you keep it on lead and clean up after it then there should be no problems .
Would thoroughly recommend, the cottage and the isle of Skye , the nearest supermarket is Broadford about half hour drive but we found if going out for day then we passed Broadford for petrol and it was easy to pick any food up.
There is small village store in armadale near ferry terminal for Mallaig .
Remember the Isle Of Skye is big and this cottage is at south end so Portree and north are a day trip really .
would recommend a trip to Elgol and a boat trip on the Misty Isles ( dogs welcome ).
wonderful Holiday great Location and a credit to the caretaker and owners , hopefully we will be back ,

this cottage is absolutly fantastic,it has every thing you could possably need,
every item and more is there as standard,it was immaculate when we arrived,
there are a couple of things which should be pointed out clearly. It is more than the stated 7 miles from the nearest shop and pub, more like 20 miles,it is actually 7 miles from the main road.
The plus sides far outweigh the couple of faults.
we saw eagles, otters ,deer, seals and so much more .
The people on Skye are so friendly and always make you welcome.
i would recommend the glass bottom boat trip if you have time , and the bread at the coop store fantastic.
the only entertainment is the television and that was faulty, the colour was tinted blue but we lived with that,
Please dont be put off this is a great place to get away from the world, i would gp back at the drop of a hat.

A Beautiful home in a Beautiful setting

Left on 01/04/2011 for a stay in November 2010

Searching the web through the many suggestions of holiday cottage's in Scotland,we were struck by the descriptions and suitability of Sykes rentals.Good website, easy to use, great team on the phone, and before we knew it we were booked into our chosen cottage, with sea views,on the Isle of Skye.We were not to be disappointed. The cottage was easy to find using the directions given by the team at Sykes, and the cottage itself was stunning.Clean, every thing a family could require, from games to linen, towels to kindling.A well appointed cottage in a small community, perfectly suited as a base for a family holiday to explore the Island. The location, took our breath away, mountains out of every window, eagles, and deer on the moor by the cottage. With a shop and pub/restaurant just 6 miles away and the town only 1/2 hour drive, empty beach's every where, this was paradise.

Very well equipped bungalow in a peaceful and beautiful spot

Left on 11/05/2010 for a stay in September 2010

The bungalow was clean, tidy and has the best equipped kitchen we have found to date. The living room was very comfortable and you felt the need to turn the sofa away from the TV and enjoy the view from the window. Three good sized bedrooms, two with that great view across the bay to wake up to.

The bungalow is situated at the top of Tarskavaig and could be difficult to locate in the dark if you are running late. The peace and quiet was fantastic. If you, like us, intend to explore the island, be prepared for a fair deal of driving. Being situated to the south of the island means making the trip to the north a good day out. On the plus side, you may need a fortnight stay to see all of Skye.

The trip back to Tarskavaig through via bay at Ord each night was just breathtaking.
