Almyra at Kina is a boutique, luxury self contained coastal lodge retreat accommodation for couples seeking privacy, peace and tranquility in a stunning waterside setting.

The property is set in three acres of parkland garden fronting the Moutere Estuary and with amazing views to the Mt. Arthur mountain ranges beyond. The accommodation is just one minute away from a stunning natural beach where you can fish, swim, walk along the shore or kayak. There is a local boat ramp for launching smaller boats.

The accommodation has its own driveway, entrance and parking area away from the owners house.

The Kina Suite - our... self contained apartment has its own BBQ and private decks with sunlounger, easy chairs, cafe-style table and chairs and sun umbrella. The Kina Suite accommodation comprises a large super king bedded bedroom with luxury furnishings; ensuite bathroom with underfloor heating; dressing area. Adjoining the bedroom is a living room with comfortable leather sofa and chair, Thre is a flat screen TV, DVD, Hi-Fi and I-Pod docking station.

The kitchenette area is well equipped for the preparation of simple meals, with sink, fridge/freezer; microwave; ceramic hob; kettle, toaster, Nespresso coffee machine and sufficient glassware, crockery and cutlery . Both lviing room and bedroom have large picture windows that open out onto private decking, overlooking the estuary and mountains.

Our brand new Tasman Suite is a luxuriously well appointed Bed & Breakfast accommodation with large king bedded room, flat screen TV, DVD, I-pod docking station, kitchenette corner with mini fridge, Nespresso Coffee machine, kettle, toaster, glassware and plates etc to prepare a sandwich or enjoy one of our evening platters on the private deck.

Both Suites have sumptious ensuite bathroom with underfoor heated italian tiles, large walk-in shower with graphic glass surround; vanity unit with demist mirror; towel warmer; toilet; fluffy towels and bathrobes and pure New Zealand Linden Leaves toiletries. Hair dryers are provided in both ensuites.

Our Bed & Breakfast guests are invited to have breakfast in the dining room of the main house, on the terrace or if they prefer, they can take their breakfast in their Suite - continental breakfast is taken to the Suite the previous evening.

Kina Suite self contained guests are provided with an extensive breakfast basket on arrival for them to prepare their own breakfast at a time that suits them.

We can offer a gourmet dinner Platter with fish and cheese if guests choose to spend an evening at home, enjoying their Platter and a glass of wine outside under the stars, or watching the sun set over Mt. Arthur and the tidal ebb and flow of the estuary. A minimum of 6 hours notice is required to order a platter which costs NZ$40.

Our guests are offered use of the outdoor swimming pool (in season).

Free WIFI is provided for both Suites

There is a guest laundry and drying courtyard in the accommodation area.

The setting of Almyra is spectacular with amazing sunsets and sunrises - a photographers dream.

For birdwatchers there are many different waders and native birds.

For geologists there are some amazing fossils and stones to find on the beach.

For Golfers there is a nearby 9-hole golf course which looks out over the Tasman Sea to Nelson and beyond.

There are many wineries in the area that offer wine tastings.

Artists will lose themselves in the spectacular vistas that surround Almyra and the Kina Peninsula. (An easel may be loaned if required).

We are surrounded by 3 National Parks the nearest of which is Abel Tasman National Park, some 40 minutes drive away. Marahau is the gateway to the National Park, from where you can walk into the Park, or take a water taxi to one of the special beaches in the park, from where you can walk for as short or long a time as you like!

Almyra at Kina is about 40 minutes drive from Nelson airport and the centre of Nelson, with its Arts, Crafts, Shopping and many restaurants.

Nearer to home is Mapua with its famous Wharf and various restaurants and cafes and within a couple of minutes drive is the querky Jester House Cafe where you can always be assured a warm welcome.

Additional Location Information

Almyra at Kina is approximately 40 minutes drive from Nelson Airport and midway between Mapua and Motueka (10km distance either way). We are about 40 minutes drive from Kaiteriteri and a little further from Marahau - gateway to th Abel Tasman National Park.
The Kina Peninsula is a stunning promontary of land accessed from Tasman township - take the Tasman turnoff off the new SH6 bypass, or the Scenic Drive through Ruby Bay. From Tasman, take Kina Beach road (signed to the Tasman Golf Club) and after about 2km take Kina Peninsula Road on your left. The road follows the estuary for about 2km until you take a bend, where you have the estuary on youyr left and the sea on your right. Turn left (mail boxes on the corner) into Helme Orchard Estate and Almyra at Kina is the first property on the left, surrounded by water on 3 sides.

Almyra apartment for 2 couples (4 adults) is NZ$650 - 750 per night. Please enquire for reduced off season rates.

  We had a wonderful three night stay here - four of us shared two bedrooms with a kitchen lounge between. Great place to stay - very clean, good rooms, very comfortable beds, good views. We loved having a swimming pool - few lodges seem to have them. Fiona and Ron are very hospitable hosts and good at recommending activities and restaurants. We preferred it to staying in Nelson because it is much closer to Tasman National Park. This was one of several lodges we stayed in on out trip and was one of the best

  We spent three wonderful days at almyra where our hosts, Ron and Fiona, did everything to make our stay as relaxed as possible. Almyra is a wonderful location, beautiful architecture in a spectacular setting, pool, great views, long walks at the nearby beach. The apartment is tastefully furnished and very comfortable. Almyra was certainly one of the highlights of our NZ trip and we greatly enjoyed our time at this wonderful place.

  Almyra was in an excellent position with wonderful views, peaceful and tranquil. The surrounding coastal area, Abel Tasman, is just wonderful with very easy taxi service to get around the beautiful bays. The accommodation at Almyra is very comfortable with everything you could possible need and Ron and Fiona are thoughtful and attentive hosts. We have many fond memories and it was one of the highlights of our tour of NZ.

  unfortunately we are back home in Germany. Here is May but nobody knows it, due to the wheather we have. Daily rain and only about ten degrees. But we had a save and scheduled flight back.
  
  So to our stay in Almyra. It was a perfect stay. What a view from bed in the morning via the lagune while the sunrise in your high quality and comfortable flat. Everything was totally professional.
  
  New Zealand was in addition one of the best countries I have been ever. What a magnificant environment.
  
  We hope to have the choice in the future to meet you again to have further nice days with you in your suitable home.

We recived very a warm welcome from Fiona and Ron and were most comfortable in a very well appointed apartment from which we had stunning views over the estuary.   A very relaxing experience having all the facilities that were required. Nothing was to much trouble. The home had a very comfortable interior with plenty of space to relax or take a swim outside.The location was perfect, beautiful views and fantastic sunsets.The house was within a short drive to a number of beaches, shops and restaurants. The Abel Taman and other sights were an hour or two away. I liked everything about this property, there really was nothing to complain about.

  We stayed for a week and enjoyed our time immensely to the degree that we spent a lot of time just enjoying the accommodation, the views, and relaxing. Fiona and Ron are great hosts, we felt very welcome, and even had the chance to "dog sit" one evening - very special.
  The accommodation is excellent quality and Fiona has taken special care and thought it out well, with the best facilities to meet the needs of the guests.
  The surrounding countryside offers everything for a great holiday - crafts, art, great seasonal fruit and vegies, excellent eateries and coffee stops.
  Best - the ever changing views across the lagoon; the feeling of being on your own, but close to everything; Fiona and Ron.
  Worst - Having to say goodbye.

  We spent a wonderful week at Almyra where our hosts Fiona & Ron did all they
  could to make our stay special. The apartment was nicely furnished, well
  equipped and from the patio that overlooked their large garden the views to
  the ocean inlet and to the hills beyond were spectacular. The location is very
  convenient for touring the Tasman and is less than an hour drive from Nelson.
  It is also only a short walk to the beach. We recommend it highly and will
  certainly stay there again on our next visit.

  Beautiful, romantic hideaway.

  • The view is really lovely.
  • The hosts friendly and accommodating but not overbearing.
  • Access to the main house swimming pool is a huge bonus in summer.
  • The accommodation is very modern, stylish and has two awesome decks to
  use. The kitchen is a mini-kitchen (stove top but no oven) but there is a
  great little barbecue on the deck near the kitchen. We glazed a little
  Christmas ham in the bbq and it came out great. The bedroom is excellent
  and has huge windows to take in the view. Nice modern bathroom.
  • Beach about 3 minutes walk away.
  Only thing I would change is to have lounge chairs on one of the decks rather
  than both decks having upright seated furniture. It would have been nice to
  lay back and really relax on the deck on a lounger chair.
  Otherwise a wonderful stay... the best stay of our 10 day South Island driving
  trip.
