Left on 05/06/2013 for a stay in April 2013
We had the luxury of five star accommodation and service with a call from Suzanne to enquire if there was anything we needed before we arrived.Although we were late arriving we were met and greeted and made very welcome at Mill Meadow.
Four of us stayed in Robins Lodge, which is set in such a beautiful wooded area right by a lake. Everyday we all said how much we loved this place and would love to take it back to Guernsey with us. We truly had an excellent holiday here. A home from home experience!
The comfort, space, facilities ,appliances etc were all top notch, nothing was lacking.
Everything is presented to such a high standard. Plenty of space if you require wheelchair access.
Being Eco - Friendly is a great concept and certainly makes you realise that you can live comfortably yet responsibly, saving energy and giving something back.It is very exciting how it all works and how Mill Meadow has achieved this.
This is the best self catering accommodation that we have ever stayed in. Excellent value for money. And with the care of Suzanne, Chris ,Trevor, family and all the staff looking after all your needs.
This is the place for a special relaxing break.
Even Henry, our dog loved Mill Meadow, especially all the wonderful walks nearby.
A very big thank you to you all.Response from Mill Meadow - 05/08/2013

Packed family off to Kingston St Mary on Monday. Co rented with sister in law. Joined up with both families on the Thursday. Very pleased all round. Admirable use of eco building and services, which is very in tune with the immediate surrounding area of the Quantocks. Very pleasant surroundings. This was all round good value. Have ideas on returning some time in the future. Recommended!

From the welcome and the Christmas tree to the peace and quiet our stay was excellent. Chris and Susanne should be proud of all they have accomplished. Robins is spacious and cosy, very clever to get both in the same place. The quality is second to none. We did a lot of entertaining and the kitchen was well equipped for all types of catering. The weather was quite wet but the nearby dog walks were enjoyed by the corgi, who really appreciated the underfloor heating. Would recommend this place to anyone.

Left on 11/11/2012 for a stay in November 2012
The lodges are absolutely fantastic and run by the most wonderfully hospitable couple. Friends and family stayed there prior to and after our wedding in November 2012. The lodges are set in a very traquil environment close to Taunton but still rural. All come well equipped and are well furnished.
Chris and Suzanne helped us with our wedding plans and kindly allowed me (the bride) to travel to my wedding venue in their Morris Minor.
We will definately re visit the lodges to stay. -

We stayed at the Mill Meadow Eco Lodge Flycatcher for October half term. We initially booked as Chris was very flexible on dates and was very happy to accommodate a Sunday to Sunday rental. On arrival we very impressed with the quality of the property. It was very modern but extremely comfortable. A combination of underfloor heating and really comfortable sofas made us very relaxed very quickly. The lack of curtains on the front of the property took a little bit of getting used to but it did ensure the property was very light and connecting the outside world. You didn't feel overlooked at all. The hot tub was an added bonus (although was disappointed with the extra charge for its use). If you are looking for a modern, comfortable, spacious and relaxing Eco home, then I would highly recommend Flycatchers.

Owner
Thanks for the review Katie, yes the question of curtains is a perennial debate between Suzanne and I.
Its difficult to know how to handle the hot tub cost as many guests do not want to use it so rather than include the cost in all bookings we chose to leave it as an option.
We are constantly reviewing this and appreciate the constructive feedback.

Just returned from a week in Taunton where my son was attending the Kings cricket festival. Found Robin's Lodge by chance, but what a result! The lodge was everything and more that we could have expected. The hot tub being a great bonus, probably making our stay all the better. Chris and his father were on hand for any questions and even the work next door of a new lodge was not a problem. The lodge was clean, spacious and perfect with having 3 bathrooms, one for each couple. I can't express enough how much we enjoyed our week, especially as this is the last festival my son will be attending, but it will not be the last time we will be visiting Robins Lodge. Big thanks to Chris and his family.

Robin's Lodge was a perfect getaway for 3 generations and even the dog! We were all made fantastically welcome by Chris and Suzanne at Mill Meadow and nothing was too much trouble for them. The lodge is perfectly situated approx 5 miles from Taunton and a short walk from the village pub in Kingston-st-Mary. Robin's is a fabulously spacious lodge equipped to a high spec with everything you could possibly need for a relaxing break.

Left on 07/26/2011 for a stay in July 2011
The lodge was spacious clean and very well equipped, the showers were amazing. It was near to Taunton to pop in and out each day so we would certainly visit again or recomend it to friends .
We had a few problems with the door locks and would have liked a view. The thick planting around the lodge made it a little dark inside and we would have loved to have been able to see the lake. This however did not detract from our enjoyment of the break.Response from Mill Meadow - 08/11/2011
Owner
Apologies regarding the locks, they are Finnish and there is a problem with manufacture that we are working to solve.
We will certainly cut back the shrubs once the birds have finished nesting.
Pleased you enjoyed your stay, many thanks for your helpful feedback.

We used Mill meadow to stay in for our Wedding in July, 2011. The lodges were very good, very clean, and we would recommend.
We also hired a hot tub for our lodge when we stayed there, which was fun - although the £220 odd for the tub plus the £900 for the lodge, meant this was certainly not cost effective accomodation.
We had two of our group using sofa beds in the communal areas of the upstairs which worked well, we perhaps only needed a little more storage in these area's as only the bedrooms had suitcases, so they were effectively living out of suit cases for the week, which isnt ideal.Response from Mill Meadow - 08/11/2011
Owner
Many thanks for your comments and I am pleased you enjoyed your stay.
You feedback is very helpful and as a result we are looking at providing additional clothes space for the sofa bed.
The hot tub is supplied by a third party and although we have negotiated a discount for our guests we have no control over the final costs.
However we are looking at a our own permanent hot tub installation which will cost significantly less.
Chris
New permanent hot tub now in place filled with solar heated water and run with solar generated electric.11.8.11 -

We had such an amazing memorable time here at Mill Meadow before our son's wedding x Mill Meadow and the lovely Chris and his dad couldn't have been kinder or more helpful x We asked for a barbeque, no problem, we asked for an iron (there was one already there we just hadn't found it) no problem, and we asked for more bedding and again it arrived as requested. My husband even caught a carp in the lake so he was happy ! Robins was a fantastic chalet, so spacious with comfy beds and enormous bathrooms. Wish I could live there xx So relaxing and just what we needed. We felt, before we left that we had made some good friends and we will never forget the friendship and hospitality shown to us. We can't thank you enough or praise you enough x

Overall, I thought the cabins were really lovely but I'd suggest one or two small changes. The raw food waste bin in the kitchen needs to be smaller. It would be good to have a recyclables bin in the kitchen itself. Our oven/hob had no instruction leaflet - since rectified but stil..., the mezanine bed/sleeping provision needs to be looked at - maybe roll up futon?
Response from Mill Meadow - 07/26/2011
Owner
Many thanks for your comments.
The food waste bin in the kitchen is the standard issue counter top container. We do provide additional it can be emptied more frequently into the main container outside.
Having the recyclables bins in the kitchen is fine when guests remember to rinse containers, when they forget then it can get a a bit unpleasant so that is why they are in the drying/cycle storage room.
Futons are a great idea.
