What Past Guests Are Saying
A wonderful home to spend time with friends and family with view
We arrived to find breakfast surplies in fridge for Saturdays breakfast.House was very welcoming with heaters on and fire all set ready for night time with huge basket of wood ready. The location cant be matched. Right on the edge of lake with easy access to hot water beach. The hot tub was amazing fitting our group in with heaps of room to spare for young ones to swim. An enormous pile of towels are available if they are required. We all loved our w/end of luxury even though the weather was dismal.
What a great place to stay with a group of friends or a family get together. We first stayed here 10 years ago with a group of friends and have had a number of family reunions over the years with family in auckland and Wellington it is the perfect half way meeting place.
The indoor big bath/pool is great fits everyone in it. Beds are huge and comfortable.Plenty of room for everyone. Love being so close to the lake, walking swimming boating.
Could stay forever!
We arrived late on a Friday night and the house was warm and the lights on. A great selection of breads/crumpets, eggs, condiments, juice tea and coffee were all there too.
Greenwood lodge is just so inviting and it feels like home (but a bit more luxurious!). Everything is there you could possibly want from firewood, kitchen utensils, to games, to pool towels and extra rugs. The view is amazing and the whole place is fitted out perfectly. The view is to die for.
It's a great space for large groups - you always feel like you've got your own space but I would also go back just with my husband and daughter as it's cosy enough for a small family too.
It's my 3rd visit and won't be my last!
Best Birthday Ever
Katie was there to welcome us into this most beautiful house with a big open fire burning to warm us up.You have to stay in this place to experience it's grandness. We walked out front gate to lakefront to feed ducks and to put our very white bare feet into warm water for a paddle.
Incredible place with alot of soul
Just loved our stay at Greenwood Lodge, just as lovely as when we stayed years ago. It was so easy to relax and enjoy just being in the house.
The lodge is so well equipped and we were able to have a lovely family lunch and everything we needed was there...and more. Being on the lake was amazing and the sunsets were beautiful.
It was immaculate and the property manager and onsite lady were lovely to deal with.
We will definitely be back soon. Ola Roberts
Our favorite place to stay in Taupo
This is the second chance we have had to stay at Greenwood Lodge and once again it was superb in every sense of the word. The lodge is beautiful and comfortable and the beds are divine! The lodge was equipped with everything we needed and the welcome package of fruit, bread etc was very much appreciated. The only piece of feedback is that the couches in the lounge need recovering now!
Annual Girls Golf Weekend
We have stayed here on several occaisons over the past 10 years or so. It is a fabulous setting and the facilities are wonderful.
We did have problems with filling the hot tub as the pump was not working properly on both nights of our stay, which put dampner on things. On contacting the person looking after the house we were told she had run out of credit for her phone and therefore could not make the necessary calls to deal with the issue. Not really the service we were expecting and something that could easily be fixed one would have thought.
Eventually a plumber arrived and sorted the issue. it would have been nice if the pump operation was checked before our arrival.
It is the first time we have arrived and had to plug in all the lamps, alarm clocks and electric blankets. For the money that we pay, it would also be nice that this was already done.
There was a general feeling from our group that the place was looking a bit tired in places, more so than usual.
Normally we have a wonderful stay here and were a bit dissappointed that things had slipped a little this time. We hope for some improvement for our next visit.

Hi Lynne, thanks for your review. We've just changed over Property Managers and are trying to get up to speed, so we're very sorry that the hot pool took so long to get fixed. Our maintenance period is over the winter and we've made note of your comments so we'll make sure its back up to 100%.
Lovely location, Homely feel to the house , awesome views. A must stay
Greenwood lodge is a beautiful house. I had a relaxing time with my girlfriends to celebrate my birthday. What luxury sat on the deck looking at the lake.
We have rented this home many times with friends, family, business associates and just for the two of us for a romantic get away and it never fails to impress. It is a wonderful and special place, very thoughtfully appointed and the photos online do not do it justice. I can't rate it highly enough.
Fantastic location, great views, warm and cosy. Loved the spacious lounge which was perfect for our group. Hope to be back sometime soon!
A great house right on the lake with a thermal pool and heaps of room for all the family. we loved sitting on the large deck watching the activity around and on the lake. Lots of areas for large family meals and everything on hand to cook and serve them. Couldn't have been better for the large family gathering.
Perfect for our biennial reunion
We are a group of Basketballers who played together in the 1960's. We get together every 2 years with our partners. This is the perfect location as we live all over the North island and one comes from Canada.
We love the dining set up as we can all fit around the tables in the lounge, kitchen and on the deck to eat drink and play cards etc. We can all fit the thermal pool. The sleeping configurations works for our group. We enjoyed swimming in the lake which is right outside the fence.
Everything about Greenwood Lodge is perfect for our group
A big thanks to the team at waterfront retreats for the memorable weekend we had at greenwood lodge. The house and facilities are superb and made our weekend very relaxing and a very special occasion.

Lake house wedding anniversary
It was great to have such a lovely venue to share a weekend with both our parents and all our ( grown up ) children. The weather could have been better but the natural spa compensated. Just lovely swimming out the front in the lake too. Very blue view.
Love the location and the facilities. Shower down stairs a wee bit run down and some of the cleaning around the windows and blinds was a bit below par.
My family and I had a very enjoyable weekend and enjoyed the location of Greenwood Lodge immensely.
We were able to relax in the comfort.
Awesome views, great house with all the things you need, the hot pool is the greatest and it was very hard to leave. overall it was a great place to stay. Definately a must if you are going to stay in taupo.
I having been to Greenwood lodge now for over 10 years on various (12) occasions, and we feel it is getting a bit tired and may need a bit of a revamp. It is still the best spot in Taupo but there area few cracks appearing. Lovely and comfy and warm and very well stocked. The pool just makes it such a wonderful winter retreat.
Response from Will Coltart - 08/09/2011
Thanks for your review, we love that you've chosen Greenwood so many times.
It has come to our attention that some of the facilities are getting slightly worn and we have started a rigorous repairs and maintenance programme.
Thanks for your custom over the years,
An affordable place for an extended family
While the building has some real charm to it, it is old, and the downstairs area has a cold concrete feel to it. We needed Carol's help with some minor problems and she was very helpful and did a good job. Value for money.
Wonderful location on the lake front
We were a group of nine in total - two families with teenage /adult chilren.
The house is very spacious and comfortable and is decorated in fishing lodge style comfort.
The beds were all comfortable and the kitchen very well stocked with all the basics and ample crockery and glasswear. The fire was set ready for lighting and once the heating was turned on it was very cosy. One minor disappoinment was the provisions left for our first breakfast - six eggs ,a small pack of budget bacon and loaf of white bread for 9 poeple.
The heated thermal pool downstairs was a real hit and lovely on a cold winters night.

Thanks for the review. Great to hear you enjoyed your stay, and a very good point about the provisions. We have made changes to ensure there are quality products supplied at the right quantity for each booking now, thanks for your feedback.
Very well-equipped house
8 ladies enjoyed this stay very much. We used the well equipped kitchen and ate in each night. The bunk beds were too small and squashy for the 2 ladies who had to use that room. While it sleeps 12, ( I can only count 11 beds) it would not be comfortable with that many and only 2 bathrooms. Living and dining areas were comfortable and the ladies who used the thermal pool felt wonderful afterwards.
