Munich, GermanyFriendly and welcoming place just close to the beach
Left on 11/22/2012 for a stay in October 2012
We stayed 4 nights a Oceanbeach Retreat and very much enjoyed our time at this lovely place. We were warmly welcomed by our hosts and important to mention by dog Dudley!
The atmosphere was really friendly and laid-back. Being late birds we could have a relaxed late breakfast in our spacious living room. It is a prefect place to relax - close to the beach, but also a good starting point for adventures.
Jenny and Brian are helpful with very good recommendations and I am sure whatever the interests are - anyone will find many things to do in this area.
Definitely a place to recommend! -

This 'bed and breakfast'boutique retreat has everything that you could need. It is beautifully decorated, spacious and very homely at the same time.Extras were provided, such as cheese and biscuits, fruit, chocolate and a bottle of wine which were a lovely addition. The retreat is located a stones throw away from a long stretch of beach and is within a short driving distance from the local town and a number of scenic walks and activities. The hosts, Jenny and Brian are wonderful hosts, greeting us warmly, ensuring our stay was comfortable and providing us with all the information we needed about what to see and do.

Luxury accommodation in an architect designed home with furnishings and hospitality to match. The best Boutique B&b; that we stayed in during our visit to NZ. Not bad as the standards in NZ are exceptionally high. Having spent our life working in the industry we complement Jenny and Brian on providing such a personal service at a very reasonable price. We wish we had booked a longer stay.

Overall review would have been "excellent" (rather than "very good") but I thought it was priced slightly ($15 pn) too high. Otherwise excellent: care taken with all details, quiet, very comfortable, lots of space and all facilities you could possibly want. Good people. Would stay again

We received first class service. We were so well looked after and made to feel at home. We loved all the little extras that were on offer, eg welcome pack on arrival, superb range of food available for breakfast, the hammock in the garden and the friendliness of the cats and dogs! The location was excellent, just by the beach and not too far from amenities. This was an excellent start to our travels in NZ, we would certainly return.

Left on 12/15/2011 for a stay in November 2011
We turned up on the doorstep unannounced and were made most welcome in their beautiful home by Jenny and Brian, even though we did not exactly "fit" the guest accommodation. The beach is very easily accessible but when we were there that part of the beach was closed for the cleaning of oil from the wreck of the Rena. The ground floor accommodation for guests was extremely spacious and comfortable. We could not do justice to the choice of fare provided for breakfast and (inter alia) cheese and biscuits were provided, with wine, for later in the day/evening.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for about a week while attending a wedding in the area. Jenny and Brian's house was amazing and the space was very private and much larger then I've ever seen in a B and B. Jenny and Brian went above and beyond in every way possible (Jenny even drove us to the sight of our friends wedding :)) Great people, great location and great pets!! Was defiantly a highlight of our stay in NZ!!

The ocean access is close by and the town is about a 5-10 minute drive away.Jenny and Brian bent over backwards to be the perfect hosts. It was the perfect place to get over jet lag.Highly recommended

We had a brilliant stay at the Oceanbeach Retreat and Jenny and Brian couldnt have been more welcoming and helpful. Despite them being overseas they went out of their way to make sure that our check-in and stay was as comfortable and easy and possible. The weather was great which meant that we could enjoy the garden (and the dogs!), and the proximity of the beach was a huge bonus too.
I wouldnt hesitate to stay here again and cant recommend it highly enough- thanks again Jenny! -

Left on 01/17/2010 for a stay in October 2009
Andrew and I had a 2 night stay and we were spoilt totally.
On our arrival was chilled beer and wine, cheese, biscuits and fruit - the answer after a long drive to stop, chill and unwind undisturbed in our own private area.
The following morning Jenny pampered us some more, hot croissants, fresh coffee and we 'chilled some more".
The accomodation was very clean, spacious and was our home for the 2 days.
Two nights felt like a fortnight..we came home totally relaxed and knowing "we will be back"
Thank you to Jenny and Brian -

We spent in Oceanbeach Retreat our last two days in New Zealand and it was the perfet place to rest and let all the wonderful experiencies we'd had sink in. Jenny and Brian are the perfect host, they allowed us to enjoy the place by ourselves but at the same time gave us enough attention to make us feel being taking care of, they even invited us to join them and a couple of friends for a drink, to celebrate the new year.
The house is beautiful, the setting simply stunning, the bedroom, bathroom and sitting room, the most confortable ones we've had.
Thank you Jenny and Brian!

Dear Jenny & Brian,
thanks very much for your friendly welcome! You made us feel like at home and we enjoyed our 2 nights stay. Your home is called "Luxury Bed & Breakfast accommodation" and it really is! But thats not the main reason why we felt familiar, it was because of you! You helped us finding the best restaurants, made us experience a wonderful und unforgetting show at the Art festival and where there, whenever we needed help. Thats what we liked most and when we come back someday with the kids be sure we will visit your home again. We can highly recommend this bed & breakfast in Mt Maunganui.
All the best for you

We needed a peaceful quiet break from our busy lives and managed to find it with Jenny & Brian. This couple are very friendly and helpful and offer their guests a really comfortable home away from home ... but with much better art and music! We usually choose to stay in holiday houses, but we loved the look of Oceanbeach Retreat on Flipkey. Jenny provides an excellent array of breakfast provisions and treats and having the expresso maker was a bonus.
We would recommend Oceanbeach Retreat to anyone who enjoys the B&B experience as these hosts are just lovely and the house is gorgeous yet homely.
Thanks Jenny & Brian. -

Jenny, Brian - thank you for an incredible weekend. You made us feel right at home, the accommodation was so comfortable, absolutely luxurious and so much room, and the weather was so good. It was wonderful to be so close to the beach too, and the balmy evenings made for such a long comfortable evening over the BBQ you have in your garden. We cannot wait to come back!

Left on 07/17/2009 for a stay in May 2009
We feel great pleasure and satisfactiom when we come across such easy comfort and homeliness when away from 'home'. Oceanbeach Retreat is beautifully decorated, just plush enough to be totally relaxing and absorbing and vitally interesting. We had one wet day there so we languished and listened to wonderful music, cooked up our own simple delights, made fresh coffees and loved every minute of our day 'at home'
Jenny and Brian our lovely hosts were so helpful and made us feel very welcome and comfortable. Nothing was too much. The service was perfect.
We loved the proximity to the wonderful ocean surf beach and spent many many hours wondering the sands and marvelling at the beauty of the coast and watched the setting sun. It was just so lovely to be there and breathe in the fresh ocean air.
We climbed the Mount and walked around it's base right alongside the ocean. Beautiful!! We also loved the township and found some very nice cafes and resturaunts. The area is not short of wonderful things to do from Tauranga city shopping (not that we did any) to digging our toes in the sand (which we did a lot) this is a dream place to visit.
Next time we will stay longer.

From the minute I arrived at Brian and Jenny's place at Mt Maunganui I was made to feel welcome. The rooms are tastefully decorated and the garden is beautiful. Even though it was cold outside, it was warm inside. The bed was comfortable and sheets and towels top-quality. Brian and Jenny both have good knowledge of the Mount and Tauranga and can give advice about what to see and places to go. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with them and would recommend it to anyone looking for something a little bit nicer than the standard B&B experience.

Great location, easy to find, quiet comfortable room, friendly hosts. The beach is very close, and is really beautiful to walk along in the evening or early morning.
I have stayed in lots of B&B's in the UK and the hospitality and accommodation offered here is equal to the nicest places there. It was great to have sole use of such a large living / tv area so I could really relax.
I also enjoyed being able to make my own breakfast when I wanted it in the morning, and not having to decide on a time with Jenny and Brian the night before.
Thanks so much - I hope to be back. -

We have stayed at Mount Maunganui many times but are delighted to have found this boutique bed & breakfast. The bedroom and bathroom were well appointed and we also had a spacious lounge. The home is wonderfully & tastefully appointed with top quality furnishings & the privacy of the guest area is unequalled among the other B&B's we have experienced & this was for us an Oasis.
It is obvious that our hosts cared about their integrity & their intention to ensure the guests have a memorable experience.
