Additional Location Information
The Railway Station originally dates back to 1890 and was built as part of the Plymouth Devonport and South Western Junction Railway. The station utilises its rugged surroundings and was constructed from materials sourced in nearby Dartmoor. The station finally closed its doors in 1968 and was converted into holiday cottages during 2007.
The market town of Tavistock has plenty going on all year round including a pannier market where the theme is ever changing, farmers markets (voted best in the West) and the famous Tavistock Goosey fair, held on the second Wednesday of October. The town is also home to a selection of cafes and restaurants offering dining options to suit all tastes and budgets.
Located a few miles to the east of Tavistock, Dartmoor National Park is easily accessible and offers scenic walks in breathtaking surroundings. The beauty of the unspoilt wilderness also makes the area popular with artists, photographers and bird watchers.
