Sprawling estate by Elk's pond in Mountain Village - the perfect home for a family get-together! This 4 bedroom home enjoys a high degree of privacy from a tranquil, alpine setting that is very convenient to both the slopes and the free Gondola that connects the towns of Telluride and Mountain Village.
Bedding: King bed, king bed, king bed, 2 queen beds.
The home is accessed through the front door, tucked inside a welcoming alcove below the porte-cochere that graces the front of the home. Entering the front door and passing through the convenient mud room brings you to the Great Room, a welcoming space inspired by a Frank Lloyd Wr...ight conversation pit. The Great Room has vaulted ceilings and large windows framing the mountain vistas. There is a wet bar, a massive gas fireplace adorned in stacked native stone and a plethora of comfortable seating. To the right of the Great Room is the formal Dining Room with seating for 10. Adjacent to the dining room is the openly designed kitchen, with stainless steel appliances, granite countertops and ample storage. The open floor plan extends beyond the kitchen to the media room, with large flat screen TV and seating for the entire group.
A door from the media room leads to the extensive back patio, a serene setting overlooking Elk Pond with ample deck furniture and a gas grill. A half bath and laundry room share the hallway that leads from the media room to the 2-car garage.
Above the Great Room is the master suite, featuring a king bed, flat screen TV, impressive mountain views and a luxurious master bath that features double sinks, steam shower and a large, jetted tub. A long hallway extends away from the Great Room to three more bedrooms. The first bedroom has a king bed and the second bedroom has two queen beds. These first two bedrooms share a full bath with shower that is accessed via the same hallway. At the end of the hall is the guest master suite with a king bed, full bath with shower/tub combo. All three of these bedrooms have flat screen TVs.

We had two families stay here with three kids under five. It was perfect! There is enough space for the kids to run around but open enough to keep an eye on everyone. The kitchen was well equipped and we cooked dinner several nights during our stay. The the grocery store and gondola to Mountain Village were about a three minute drive away so easy to pop out for anything we forgot. We kept our boots and skis in Mountain Village which made getting kids and a variety of ski paraphernaila to the slopes a breeze.
Telluride and Mountain Village are both lovely. The people were friendly and helpful, the towns were clean and everything seems quite well run. The management company was very responsive and easy to work with. I think the only negative (if you can even consider it a negative) was how warm the house was! A few open windows and we were just fine...
We're already talking about booking for next year!
Rent it and they will come- and they will love it!

This is our second time visiting Telluride in the summer. We drive from Minnesota to Colorado each year as my husband grew up there. We are a large family (2 parents,4 kids,2 son-in-laws and one precious grand baby) and we like to vacation together in comfort and in beautiful settings where active members of the family can be active and slower paced personalities can be happy as well. This home was a find. Everyone was elated when they walked in. Jubilant really! It was spacious home- enough for all 9 of us. It was very simple to instantly feel at home, and was over the top when it came to amenities. I had no idea that after a few days we would get new towels and a spiff up by the maid service! Maintenance issues were solved almost as soon as they were reported. Great showers. Wonderful mattresses. Multiple comfortable chairs in a variety of rooms.Indestructible feel to the home. Superior TVs and a very nice stereo system that easily hooked into our own iPods. Felt secure.
It was a short walk to: fish in the lake (caught nothing) catch the free gondola, walk or push a stroller on a path, get on a bike path and pick up something at the grocery store. And if you were as unfortunate as our son who was 14 on crutches for the whole vacation- the view of the mountains was fantastic right from the back porch.
Our bikes were safely stored in the garage. Our cars parked right outside the home on the private driveway. Now we cook everything in the vacation home to save money and every kitchen piece was already there except a cheese grater! Even the knives were good. The table was large enough for everyone to have a chair and a decent place setting. This is not the usual case as we have rented for years. We know good homes. This was one. I would rent from this company again. This company was over the top in my opinion. Upon checking out I found out that this home has a over the garage apt. Next time if we are larger we will rent this too! Read more
Wow - thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback and experiences at The Founder's Estate! Creating positive guest experiences is our goal and the reason we are all in this industry...your review is so very much appreciated. The home does indeed have a 2-bed/1-bath apartment above the garage to accommodate larger groups so hopefully you can bring some more friends with you on your next visit.
We have purchased and placed a cheese grater inside the kitchen! Thank you for bringing that to our attention!
We are looking forward to welcoming you back soon!
