Cullman, ALNot quite what I expected
Left on 03/20/2013 for a stay in March 2013
The location was super, but the room was a good bit smaller than I expected. There were few places to sit or hang things. I was not satisfied with the parking arrangements. Because of problems with our flight, we got there very late and had difficulty finding Manitou. I did get a peek into some larger rooms that were much more spacious than mine.
Response from Telluride Alpine Lodging - 03/26/2013
Manager
Thank you for your review and we are sorry for the difficulty in finding the Manitou since your flight was delayed. In the prearrival email we send to guests we try to give them all information and contact information needed for regular and late arrivals. As you mentoned, rooms 8-11 are smaller (you were in 10) with a queen bed in a loft and a single pullout futon. You might find Rooms 4, 5, 6 and 7 more to your liking. Parking can be challenging during ski season and coming in late does not help. However, we try to accommodate our guests if we know they are coming in late in every way possible.

We enjoyed our stay at the Manitou Lodge. Walking distance to everything Telluride! Friendly staff! Hot Tub was welcome after a day of hiking. Yummy Breakfast. and free access to the dining/kitchen area.
Response from Telluride Alpine Lodging - 10/11/2012
Manager
Thank you for taking the time to tell us your experience at the Manitou Lodge. The hot tub, being an old red wood hot tub is nicely maintained by a local company, San Miguel Building & Spa. We are currently getting a new roof which should make it even nicer.
Please come back when you can.

Room was smaller that what we thought it would be, but was fine because we didn't spend that much time in it. Location was great south center of town right on the river. Great place to sit on deck and read a book. Close to gondola, restaurants and shopping.
Response from Telluride Alpine Lodging - 08/12/2012
Manager
It is true that Rooms 8-11 are very cozy rooms. They sleep 3 people at the most with a queen bed in a small loft and a single sleeper couch on the main level. They are perfect for active, sports minded guests. We thank you for your review.

Colorado SpringsCute little room with a beautiful view!
Left on 09/05/2011 for a stay in August 2011
This place was exactly what we needed. Its simple and small. It has a beautiful view right on the river. It was very clean and the breakfast was nice. Since we stayed in the summertime we opened windows and there was a nice breeze thru the room. It cooled off nicely. I would suggest this room in the summertime. The only complaint is that the sink is in the living area instead of the bathroom area and it is low and very small. Its frustrating to use. The bed was super comfortable!
Response from Telluride Alpine Lodging - 09/08/2011
Manager
We thank you for your kind review. It is true that the sinks in Manitou B&B units 8-11 are configured in the rooms this way due to compact layout. Units 1-7 are configured differently offering a little more space for more guests in these units. You can view these rooms online at www.telluride.com

Good location. Parking is a problem the bed covers were dirty and breakfast should be longer. Other than that great place.
Response from Telluride Alpine Lodging - 07/21/2011
Manager
Thank you for your review. We will look into these matters concerning the bed cover for certain. The dedicated parking for the Manitou B&B and Manitou Riverhouse condos can sometimes be full and at those times, if you let us know we can accommodate your parking very close by. We are truly sorry for these items to come up, but do appreciate your feedback.

We thank you for your review and while we do have cozy units in Manitou, we also offer more spacious units such as #4 and #7. Here in Telluride we like to refer to room layout as "eclectic" and indeed they are unique!

Very peaceful private retreat at the end of our two week vacation. The setting beside the creek with lovely fall colors was great. The common area was cozy and would have been perfect to have a fire in the evening. Breakfast was good and other guests and host was relaxing and friendly.

North CarolinaThe Sleep Sofa
Left on 10/14/2010 for a stay in September 2010
The photos should show this unit with the sleep sofa unfolded. When the sofa is unfolded, it is completely against the stairwell. If you have two people sleeping upstairs and two downstairs on the sleep sofa, the only one who can go to the bathroom without waking others is the person sleeping next to the bathroom on the sleep sofa. For four women over 50, this makes this unit a bad place to get a good night's sleep. In this particular unit, the problem was compounded by the fact that the sleep sofa was damaged; if you tried to crawl across the end to go to the bathroom, you would fall through it.
On the positive side, the bathroom had been remodeled very nicely and the common breakfast/lounge area was wonderful. Breakfast was served promptly and was more than adequate for our needs.
Telluride alpine Lodging did respond to our complaints after several calls and emails. We were promised a refund of half the price; we received $12.68 less than the refund we were promised.Response from Telluride Alpine Lodging - 10/22/2010
Manager
Truly Manitou has many nice things about it and are glad you enjoyed them. We are addressing the sleeper sofas in the Inn and appreciate your concern about this.
Thanks for taking the time to share.

I came to Telluride for my first time and stayed at the Blue Mesa Lodge in the Village. The process to check in was a little confusing but they provided a phone number if I needed help. I arrived at 8pm and was apprehensive that I was going to be sleeping in my car when I couldnt find my key. I called the number and talked to a local person who said I was in the wrong check in location. She said she would meet me at the correct location. I meet her there and we discovered that I had messed up my reservation and was a day early. She took care of it and got me a room for the same price. The next day I went and checked in to the room I had reserved.
I was surprised to find out parking was an additional $20 per day. I was not happy about that being left out of the details. I did find free parking at the end of a gondola and bus trip. -

Durango, COConvenient, but tight quarters.
Left on 02/25/2010 for a stay in February 2010
My husband and I have been coming to Telluride since the early 80s, but
find it increasingly challenging to find lodging that is reasonably priced. Our
location was as inexpensive as we could find, yet still pricey. We loved the
location, but the room was so small, that we had to walk across the fold-
out couch to get to the bathroom. Others had, too, as the springs were
broken from this approach...We loved the queen mattress upstairs, and the
flat-screen TV, but it would have been nice to have a coffee maker or
hairdryer. The floor space was so limited that we were challenged to find a
place to put suitcases or hang ski coats...It would be one thing if we were
paying $100/night, or even $120, but $176 was overpriced, but then that's
what we've experienced with Telluride. My husband is a physician, but we
can hardly afford to stay there...
However, the breakfasts were nice, and it was wonderful to have a parking
space in town.
Lastly, my boys indicated that the hot tub was pretty scummy...Response from Telluride Alpine Lodging - 02/25/2010

Linda,
Thank you for reviewing your stay at the Manitou Bed & Breakfast. We appreciate your comments and suggestions. Manitou B&B is setup as a smaller, hotel facility (best for 2 or 3 people) and not a large spacious condo for 5 people as you had on your reservation. Next time you visit, we can look into a larger condo instead of a hotel property to accommodate your entire party. Thank you for your comments and we look forward to having you back in Telluride soon! -

I thought the room was fine for the price. It was layed out a little strange with the toilet and sink in two separate rooms. Continental breakfast was ok. The only problem I had was that the room was not serviced by housekeeping everyday.
Response from Telluride Alpine Lodging - 02/16/2010
Manager
Thanks for reviewing your recent stay at the Manitou. We're glad you enjoyed the great price and location. Most B&B layouts have the toilet and sink seperate to help space the room out and enable both guests to use either facility at the same time. Housekeeping is serviced everyother day and arrangements can be set up for daily service, if needed. We look forward to having you back in Telluride soon!

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay at the Manitou Lodge. I have forwarded your comments to our staff so we can help elminate these problems in the future. We're you able to contact our Guest Services staff regarding the toilet and remote? We have regular maintenance workers who could have fixed those problems within the hour. DenverNice Unit - Crappy Customer Service
Left on 01/22/2010 for a stay in January 2010
The unit was small, but clean and comfortable. Also, the price was right - $99 for the middle os ski season. The registration process was a chore. Finding parking by their office was complicated. I had lost my purse earlier in the day and could not provide the credit card I used to fully pay for the room in advance. The staff had little sympathy and I nearly had to beg them to let me stay in the room - a room that had been paid for in full. I needed to check out about 6:00 am and the staff was snotty about that, too.
I would stay there again, but would hope for a much nicer and more understanding staff.Response from Telluride Alpine Lodging - 01/26/2010

Sarah,
Thank you for reviewing your stay at the Manitou Lodge. We're glad you enjoyed the great price and convenient location. We always have to confirm your reservation with a valid ID or credit card for security purposes. Check out time is 10:00am but you're more than welcome to check out early if you would like. We're sorry you lost your purse and hope you were able to track it down. We look forward to having you back in Telluride soon! -

Our experience was great from start to finish. The Manitou B&B was perfectly located and Jan was a great hostess. Our room was clean and the bed was super comfortable. One recommendation, maybe some sort of very small closet or hanging system. The hooks worked but we needed just a little more closet space.
Thanks for everything!Response from Telluride Alpine Lodging - 01/07/2010

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay at the Manitou Lodge. We're glad you enjoyed the great location and friendly manager, Jan. The location is the best aspect of this B&B. I dont remember being notified of the fact that I had to stop by an Alpine Lodging office to pick up the keys and parking passes, so I had a bit of a run-around when arriving into town. Once I got into the room I was a bit disappointed of the room size. It was very tight with not much space for luggage and no table of any kind. The only other negative thing that I need to address is the fact that the walls are soooo thin! At 2am our neighbors came home and we could hear every word...and they were not even being that loud. Be aware that everything you say can be heard through the walls! I enjoyed our stay overall. Being able to hop out and walk into town or get on the gondola in minutes was great! Breakfast was minimal but ok. I'd recommend going for one of the bigger rooms if you can afford it.

Thank you for your response. We will try and get some luggage racks in this unit so there is more storage for personal items.

I've stayed in this room twice. It is a small room, even for just one person and storage space is a bit tight. But it is comfortable, efficient, clean, has a nice hot shower, and is close to everything in town, including the Gondola. Breakfast is served at 7:30 every morning, again nothing fancy, but always sufficient to get the day started in Telluride. I'll have no trouble either recommending this room, or staying in it again myself.
