This was a lovely villa situated on the west end of Simpsom Bay. The view of the bay spectacular. We have traveled to a number of villas in the us and Mexico and this was our first experience with a villa in St. Maarten. On the website (luxuryretreats.com) it was listed as being in Terra Basses when in actuality it's in a small non-gated yet very nice neighborhood called Mt rouge and its villa 502. The pool is great and the furnishings are a lovely euro-rustic antique mix that works well. The place felt safe, but there were locks, gates and an alarm system. There is a safe in the bedroom. The three bedrooms are great, each with its own shower and bathroom and hair dryer. Each has its own aC. Don't drink the tap water. Very nice grocery store just south in Porto Cupecoy. The kitchen was suited well for small amounts of cooking. The wifi was reliable. The Dish Network TV worked well in the living room.
Things that should be improved for a villa at this price point :
1. The Mosquitos are horrible and my wife almost left early due to the bites. A mosquito magnet would help a bunch.
2. The living area got unbearably hot unless the doors were open. But open doors make the bug problem worse. Perhaps some aC in the living areas as well.
3. No running water on Sunday unless you request the system be turned on.
Nice time nice area, but I would look into terra basses if you are in the $5k per week range -

This was our third villa rental with your company and once again we found the entire experience most pleasurable from start to finish. Our villa advisor James D\'Silva is very professional and my opinion of him can best be summed up with the fact that I have referred several friends to him. Your concierge Pascal as well as your colleagues on the ground in St. Maarten were equally efficient, professional, and attentive. The villa itself was fantastic! It was clean, beautifully appointed, and well-equipped. Needless to say that we will be very happy to use your company\'s services again...and hopefully in the not-too-distant future!

We loved the villa, amenities, security, and especially the pool! It was our annual family vacation, and once again Luxury Retreats helped us find a special place (our fourth year working with Luxury Retreats). All aspects of our stay were well thought through, and the local support from Eddie Hunt was wonderful. The housekeeper - Rhumene - was extremely nice and helpful. We were less enthralled with St. Martin than we have been with Barbados, Grand Cayman, and St. Lucia - but that was mainly due to the lack of good snorkeling and the island\'s congestion. But the villa was awesome, and we really enjoyed our trip!

Serious problem with mosquitoes and several power outages. One night-time power outage took out the phones (and the gate) as well. Fortunately we had an international cellphone so were able to call for help.
