We travel and stay on St. Maarten every 2-3 months. Our accomodations are almost always excellent. This property was disappointing for the price.
First, the caretaker was away for the first 5 days we were there. Mosquitoes overrun the property. My 16 year old was bitten relentlessly. Internet, important to my business, was almost unusable.
When the caretaker, Philip, returned, he burned repellent throughout living areas. It would have been nice if we had known to do this during our stay.
Philip then spent the last two days of my stay 'reminding' me when I needed to check out.
This was incredibly annoying.
The property is beautiful and interesting. But between the lack of amenities and the way we were treated by the caretaker, who is possibly the owner, I would never stay here again. We booked with Canadian travel agent. I would only book directly with management company from now on. -

Beautiful beaches, great restaurants, and the perfect villa. We so enjoyed our view from the pool, the spacious bedrooms and bathrooms as well as the huge kitchen. The dual electric outlets were a huge plus for all the gadgets\" our kids travel with. Phillipe and the staff at Luxury Retreats did everything to make sure our stay was problem free. We have never stayed in a rental where the pictures on line were not as good as the real thing. Pictures don\'t do the property justice! There are porches everywhere, seating areas inside and out, beautiful pool with lounging furniture perfect for vacation naps and a gourmet kitchen fit for a chef. The best escape we\'ve ever had

It is impossible to accurately describe the feeling we got the moment we walked in the front door of Le Mas des Sables after a long day of travel. Out the back was the Caribbean Sea and other islands and the view was breathtaking. Every morning we felt that same feeling waking up to the view. We felt so lucky we had another day at Le Mas des Sables. The decor was so perfect for the experience and the owners have thought of every detail. For a whole week, we forgot all our worries. Things I wish someone had told me: 1) bring bug spray, anti-itch ointment and anything else to keep mosquitoes at bay. We went at the end of April which is apparently the worst season for them; 2) bring those goofy water shoes because there is so much to explore right near the house but flip flops don\'t cut it on the rocks; 3) go to the Dutch side and shop at the Grand Markets there for substantially better products and prices; 4) rent snorkel gear for the week at a local shop for only $30/40 US. - Debbie L., New Hampshire, USA

Our Stay at Le Mas des Sables

We enjoyed this lovely vacation villa very much. It had all the conveniences one could want. The view of the ocean is spectacular and the beach not far away for adults.\r\nThe pool was much enjoyed as was the shaded sitting area for reading or chatting.\r\nWe did have some very windy weather the first week of our stay, so did not do much sitting in the sun - probably wise in the long run as we did not suffer from sun burn.
