      Perfect in every way!

Left on 05/06/2013 for a stay in April 2013

Maeggie made our visit very special indeed. We were in Paris for our 40th wedding anniversary, having only visited this beautiful city for two days a few years ago we wanted to explore more! Well Maeggie had thought of absolutely everything ( including a welcoming bottle of wine and chocolates) to arranging for someone to meet and greet us, show us around the grounds and give us all the information we needed about the area eg restaurants, food shops, train stations etc etc.
There is everything you need in the apartment it is very comfortable and extremely well located. It was so easy to hop on a train or a bus to see all the sights(Maeggie has all the info you need) and we saw a lot in a week! Montmartre is marvellous in itself. Plenty of restaurants, shops, galleries and the village is an artists dream! Such a lovely place to explore and then retreat to the comfort of the apartment and the total peace.
I would not hesitate to recommend this apartment.Everything is on your doorstep and I am sure that Maeggie will make it a very fond memory.
I look forward to our next visit, to enjoy a bottle of wine with Maeggie and enjoy all Paris has to offer.

Lovely vacation nest in Montmartre with comfort, charm, and styl

Left on 04/16/2013 for a stay in April 2013

In april, my wife and I had the pleasure of spending a week at 11 rue Robert Planquette in Montmartre for our first trip to Paris. Our host Maeggie Maillet, who lives upstairs from the rental property, was genuinely interested in making certain that we enjoyed ourselves while in town. Upon our arrival, Mme. Maillet took us on a generous walking tour of the neighborhood, highlighting her favorite stores and restaurants and answering our questions. She also checked on us later to ensure that there were no problems (there were none), and even arranged for our departure at the end of our stay by contacting a cab company. (By the way, for you non-French speakers: her English is impeccable.) The property itself is located in a beautiful restored apartment building that overlooks a courtyard and garden. It is comfortably furnished with a sofa bed; dining room table and chairs; full kitchen with stove, dishwasher, and clothes washer/dryer; vintage le Corbusier chaise; and perhaps the most comfortable platform bed in the world. Interesting artwork and many books, on a variety of subjects, round out the interior. The neighborhood could not be better for a visitor, as you are privy to all of the amenities of the working class residents. (Fans of the film "Amelie" should note that the restaurant where she worked, Café des 2 Moulins, is one block and a half away, and the film's director, Jean-Pierre Jeunet, lives in the same apartment complex.) Our only disappointment, aside from a colder-than-usual april in Paris, was having to leave for home. Merci, Mme. Maillet!

      A Real Treasure in Paris

Left on 03/01/2013 for a stay in February 2013

After reading all the reviews I decided to book this apartment for a week for my mother and two daughters age 8 and 10.Everything was superb Maeggie is a true professional in every sense and is genuinely concerned for your well being and comfort.
The apartment is in a beautiful 18th century house fully equipped with everything you will need for your stay.It was wonderful to have Maeggie at hand and to be given local knowledge and advice. On the first evening she walked with us through the neighbourhood, pointing out the metro and the best places to buy bread, meat and vegetables.
We all loved the place so much that we are already planning our return. If you are scrolling through accommodation as I did I can honestly say stop, book now you will not be disappointed. We had a magical week and the peace and quiet you will not believe in the centre of Paris. Maeggie is a very gracious lady and a perfect host.Like others I am a little reluctant to share this find as I would like to keep it to myself! Everything is genuinely superb!

Left on 02/07/2013 for a stay in January 2013

We rented this flat for 3 nights. It was perfect for my husband, my 2 yr old and myself. Maeggie was amazing having set up a cot and high chair for our daughter and advising us on the best way to travel around paris with a stroller!
the apartment is in the heart of montmartre with lovely bistros, cafes and a weekend market all within walking distance. it is also well connected to the city centre by bus and metro.
the flat is tucked away in a cul de sac making it quiet at night.
there was nothing we didn't like about the flat! in fact it made our experience with our 2 yr old that much more fun!

      Really arrive in Paris

Left on 01/27/2013 for a stay in December 2012

In the past few years apartment rentals have become our preferred accommodation. In particular, we look for rentals such as Maeggie's where the owner is involved in the rental. Why? Making a connection with someone who knows the area intimately enables you to quickly connect with your neighborhood. Maeggie took the time to provide us with an enthusiastic tour of her neighborhood and, in the space of an hour, we made that important shift to feeling something like a local. She is a welcoming and gracious hostess.
If this were the only recommendation, that would likely be enough.

In addition the accommodation was superb. Walking through the big doors into the garden courtyard you step out of the city and into the domestic world of parisians, not into a foyer designed to impress. The sounds of the city fall away and the clamoring of storefronts is replaced by greenery and graceful trees.

The apartment itself had everything we needed and felt welcoming.

      Stop searching. Book this now.

      Secret Parisian oasis

Left on 01/22/2013 for a stay in January 2013

The apartment itself is stylish decorated and extremely comfortable. Its set on the second floor of an 18th century apartment building that only comprises of three residences. It really is an oasis in the city. The birds were the only noise's we heard. It's set in a gated, residents only complex that hides itself away from one of the best districts in Paris (my favorite) Maeggie is without doubt the most gracious and considerate host and someone who is quietly on hand if you need anything - including shopping advice. My only hesitation in writing this review is that I am reluctant to share the apartment with anyone. I could not rate our experience and this apartment highly enough.

I would like to keep this cozy apartment a secret.

Left on 01/03/2013 for a stay in December 2012

With great reluctance, I write about this wonderful little apartment in the Montmartre district of paris; I would actually like to keep it a secret so that it is always free the next time we want to visit Paris. From renting via the internet to leaving, our experience was superior. Maeggie, the owner, who lives above the flat, was out of town during our stay, but left us in professional hands and made sure our stay was amazing, from the bottle of champagne as a welcome gift, to leaving us suggestions for restaurants open during Christmas. The apartment is decorated with great style, was clean, filled with light, well appointed, and nicely temperature-controlled for our comfort. My daughter slept on the sofa bed in the living room and is now busy looking for one just like it, as it was so comfortable. There are three ways out of the little garden compound, all leading to different shopping, eating, and transportation, including three metro lines. I would estimate that we never spent more than 5 to 7 minutes getting to the metro and the route was fun, passing by interesting food shops, etc. My only caveat would concern those with any limited mobility because there are stairs: two flights in the building and, of course, the area is built on a hill, so one has to has to climb a slight incline at the least, or go up and down a few more stair. We didn't find it to be a problem at all, though, and would give this accommodation our best review.

Left on 11/15/2012 for a stay in November 2012

This flat is perfect for a couple, or 2-4 friends,or a family with small kids who wants to have a special experience in Paris - which is living in a private home. Beside the beautiful, clean and modern flat, I loved the neghbourhood with its bakeries, cheese stores, small shops, supermarkeds, restaurants, bars etc. It was close to the metro and buses which takes you everywhere in Paris. The owner of the flat is a very friendly and helpful woman. I would highly recommend this flat to my friends and family.

Stayed at the Secret Garden apartment for 3 weeks and it was a perfect holiday break. Maeggie, the owner was a delightful hostess, with a wonderful local knowledge of the area as well as Paris, an invaluable resouce of information. Maeggie made herself available at anytime with those little extras to ensure our stay in her beautiful apartment was relaxed and enjoyable. The apartment is ideally located in Montmartre with its beautiful views over its own private garden, very close to abesses and Pigalle Metros and walking distance to cafes and supermarkets. We hope to return in a year or so and will definitely stay at this beautiful apartment again.

      Spring in Montmartre

Left on 10/17/2012 for a stay in April 2012

I know that I depend heavily on reviews such as these as my wife and I plan for particularly special trips. Our stay this spring in the Montmartre neighborhood of Paris, and our lovely landlord, deserves the highest praise possible. We had heard about this place from well-traveled friends that had stayed there previously. We knew them to be dependable and they absolutely raved about this place and the owner, Maeggie Maillet. We booked without any further research. Our stay could not have been more wonderful. We were treated to warmer than normal early april weather. More importantly we were treated to a landlord that acted more like a concierge and treated us more as friends as we could ever have imagined. Combined with the great location in the heart of this wonderful, authentic, historic part of Paris, we could not have been more fortunate. Travel into the heart of the city by Metro is a cinch. The neighborhood offers wonderful shops and restaurants all around. The walk up to Sacre-Coeur is fantastic and treats you with a spellbinding view of the city.

The apartment is perfect. Decorated in the most tasteful materials, artwork, books, furniture, etc. Maeggie is and should be proud. Open all of the windows for a great view of the garden. Spacious bedroom, living area, and fully functional kitchen. It will feel like your own Paris get-away.

My wife and I are americans that have traveled extensively abroad. We love authentic experiences. This place under the watchful care of Maeggie is a no-brainer. We will return without question.

Second stay, and not my last

Left on 10/05/2012 for a stay in September 2012

My second stay in this lovely, central, well-managed and light-filled apartment in a renovated 16th century (or thereabouts) building with a courtyard garden. Several street entrances, all secure and gorgeous. Maeggie, the owner, lives upstairs and cannot be more helpful and friendly. It is my Paris 'home' now. I love the space, the light, the easy transport (two nearby Metros, several buses and easy walking) and the shopping convenience (close to quality patisseries, boulangeries, supermarches, beaute institutions, wine shops and bars, not to mention a couple of the best restaurants in Paris - Chez Toinette and Miroirr and Guilo Guilo. Plus Le Grenier du Pain, a patisserie in rue de abesses (not open tuesdays and wednesdays) with the best baguettes. Lots of other places to buy chicken and vegetables/salad for for stay-in dinner. Apartment quiet, except for an hour or so late afternoon when you can hear the happy, joyous sound of children playing (and Parisien children are so well behaved that the sounds are delightful). I loved the late afternoon because of the children and the sunlight that poured into the lovely apartment. If I could live in Paris, it would be here. Thank you Maeggie.

Left on 09/21/2012 for a stay in August 2012

My family loved everything about the place. The apartment was very clean and tastefully decorated. I am an interior decorator by profession and I give Mrs. Maggie, the owner a perfect 10 for her perfect use of space and the soothing ambiance she has managed to create in the apartment.
Mrs. Maggie was also very kind and extremely helpful and the fact that she lives just above this rented property made her very accessable for any information or help that we needed.

We loved this location, it has a charm of its own. It is also not very far from the center of paris. There are two metro stations just 5 min walking distance from the apartment.

I will definitely be staying there if i ever go back to Paris and am lucky enough to have this place available.
Suggestion: plan ahead and book early.

      Have fun... Paris is beautiful!!!

Clean, comfortable, convenient, safe, secure, spacious, friendly

Left on 09/20/2012 for a stay in September 2012

Spacious and comfortable with all the conveniences of home: free use of Internet (ethernet and WiFi) and overseas phone, cable TV, modern bath, washer/dryer, dishwasher, microwave, stove, oven. Could stay a month and not miss home! Owner is friendly, helpful and knows the area and provided me a walk f tour of Monmartre upon arrival. Gated community requiring a key pass to open gate, key for building and key for secure deadbolt to apartment: top, bottom and latch. M2 Metro just 2 block walk takes you to 4 other metros just one stop either direction. 5 bus lines jest 2-3 blocks away. Either take you anywhere in Paris and beyo d by accessing RER. Many cafe's, grocers, fruit, cheese, wine, baker, gift shops, take away foods within a block in any direction. Catch the Monmartre bus or Metro or walk to go to Sacre Coeur in 5 -10 minutes. Staying in this village was completely a different feel than the week than previous week on Champs Elysees. Much more intimate, laid back and village feel versus city feel bur could get to major Paris sites quickly and easily. Able to visit, Giverny, Versailles and Disney easily from M2 and connections to RER. Highly recommend thus apartment but book early as it's used every week of the year and for good reason

      Very convenient to M2 Metro

My family of four stayed at Maeggie's apartment august 2012 for just over a week and loved the convenience to stores and the metro. Maeggie's apartment in Montmartre is fabulous - it was such a treat to stay here. The property is light and bright and my daughter praised the sofa bed as being more comfortable than her bed at home! The location is perfect for sightseeing and just a walk away from the Sacre Coeur with wonderful views of Paris, especially from the top! Maeggie's recommended places to eat were perfect - especially the very unassuming Chez Toinette where the food and wine was divine and the service very welcoming. Maeggie was away when we stayed but she made sure that we were well looked after by her neighbour, Virginie, who was lovely. Maeggie kept in touch to make sure we were happy and was so warm and friendly that we plan to return just so we can meet her in person! All in all a wonderful 5-day stay in a fabulous City ...

What a beautiful apartment in my favorite part of Paris! The apartment is very large, extra sunny and has a fully functioning kitchen (with washer/dryer!) and dining area. The living room pull-out bed was big enough for my teenage son to thrash around on and we used the pull out in the very large bedroom for our 11 year old daughter. We never felt cramped - had a nice dining table to work at while we listened to music and ate delights from the shops just a half block away from the apartment, or we could lounge in the living area or bedroom to read or relax. We cannot wait to go back and wouldn't even think about staying elsewhere. merci!

Montmartre + Maeggie's apartment = Memorable Paris Vacation

Left on 07/11/2012 for a stay in July 2012

Our very first trip to Paris and the visit was everything we could hope for. Maeggie and her assistant Camille are warm and welcoming and made us feel very much at home.
The apartment is absolutely wonderful, with all necessities provided for - fully equipped kitchen, small but beautifully updated bathroom and washer/dryer. One thing to note is that the washer/dryer is one of those single unit jobs whose primary advantage is it's compactness. It works fine as long as the load is fairly small.

We were particularly delighted about how quiet the apartment is even with the windows open. Right in the heart of Montmartre and all you hear is the chirping of birds! It really was an oasis we looked forward to every night after a long day of sightseeing.

Montmartre is a truly special neighborhood with tons of character, charm and a gazillion shops, restaurants and bars. The area near the Sacre Couer Basilica is pretty touristy but the apartment is located much further down the hill in a "real" neighborhood and makes for a truly special and immersive experience. (BTW, I do believe that the idea of the "rude Parisienne" is a myth - everyone we encountered (from shopkeepers and waiters to just folks on the street) was wonderful.

We were travelling with our 2 girls (8 and 12 years old) and they loved the apartment as well as the location. It became something of a ritual to walk over to the Boulangerie on rue des abesses (le Grenier a Pain) to pick up croissants and every morning.
The Pari metro is incredible and with 3 stations within a 5-7 minute walk, pretty much any part of Paris can be reached in 20 minutes or less.
We will definitely return and when we do, our HQ will be Maeggie's beautiful Villa in the secret Montmartre garden!

      Pure Paris

Left on 07/07/2012 for a stay in June 2012

After several trips to Paris and visiting almost all of the obligatory sights, my wife and I decided we really wanted to "live" in Paris; we wanted to to get into the rythm of daily life, feel what it is like to have a real home in this beautiful city and, for a while at least, really be Parisians. Maeggie Mailliet's beautiful Montmarte apartment turned out to be the perfect place for all all of this. The apartment is decorated and appointed with taste and a personal touch that simply says, "you are home." It is located in vibrant, real neighborhood that is within walking distance to many of the city's great sites and attractions and has everything one needs: the best boulangerie in Paris, cheese shops, markets, sidewalk cafes, places to buy roasted chickens and sausage, butchers, fish markets, incredible bakeries, a Greek deli, intimate neighborhood restaurants with incredible dishes for reasonable prices.
And, while you are only steps away from all of this, the apartment's location, adjacent to a beatiful garden and situated amid other attractive residences, provides an island of serenity in the midst of the city. The birds and the rustle of the trees are louder to you than the din of the city.

And all of this gives you a new perspective on Paris. Shopping for groceries becomes a joy. The smiles and Bonjours of your neighbors are real and genuine, and you find yourself smiling back, slowing down, enjoying the moment. The blue Parisian sky, the clouds, the surprise thunderstorms and spring showers become "attractions" as worthy as any in the city.

You put your camera down, and that beautiful tower, the green Seine, the great plazas and palaces, become part of your daily life. You find your own cafe, your own table. You watch Paris go by. It is sweet.

And Maeggie is always there, from first email contact to your final farewell, with help, advice, and personal heartfelt hospitality you will never find at a hotel. She is the perfect host.

Well situated to the metro. Maeggie is an excellent host, going out of her way to anticipate our needs including travel back to the airport, supplying us with a crash course on transportation system, suggesting best sites and experiences to suit our interests. Lovely, gracious person!

Maeggie's apartment was a perfect base for our week in Paris. Short walks to the Metro and bus stations allowed us to stay in a quiet and charming home while still as close to the action as we wanted to be. The neighborhood around the apartment is filled with bistros, bars and all nature of interesting shops. We felt safe and secure at all hours walking the nearby streets. Don't miss the Tour Eiffel light show from the top of the butte Montmartre! Maeggie is a gracious hostess and the charm of the neighborhood is not to be missed. We'll be back.

      Unforgettable stay in Montmartre

Left on 06/03/2012 for a stay in May 2012

We traveled to Paris for our honeymoon and could not have found a better place to stay. Maeggie is the perfect hostess, she even congratulated us on just being married with a bouquet of roses and champagne!! So nice to be greeted with after a long flight from Canada. She prepared a folder of helpful tips while staying in Montmartre and was readily available if any questions or concerns (which there were none). This apartment is about a 20 minute subway ride from the tourist sites of Paris and far more affordable than a hotel in Paris. Plus we were not living in a closet for a week, instead this apartment is huge!! We found it a peaceful and ultra comfortable place to return to each day after the hustle and bustle of Paris and being a tourist all day long. There was even WiFi, a dishwasher and a laundry machine/dryer in the apartment...all very useful while traveling. On our last day we did all our shopping for gifts etc in Montmartre which is a charming place. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to our friends.

Awesome, Peaceful Stay at the Villa Montmartre Secret Garden apa

Left on 05/19/2012 for a stay in May 2012

My husband, son and I had a wonderful one week stay at Maeggie's Villa Montmarter Secret Garden apartment while we were in Paris. We were very impressed with the lovely apartment, the way it is furnished, and the attention and responsiveness Maeggie gave to us during our stay.

The apartment is wonderfully furnished by Maeggie. The master bedroom is huge even by american standards. We used the kitchen to prepare a few meals and found it well equipped. We cannot speak enough of the lovely location of this apartment which is at the end of a cul de sac and behind a gated fence. The apartment overlooks a court yard garden of lovely trees and when we looked out of the window, we would see the trees and hear the birds chirping. This location of this apartment is very quiet and peaceful.

Only a block away is the bustling Rue Lepic which has supermarkets, produce shops for fresh vegetables, bakeries, butchers and many take-out or sit-down restaurants. We thoroughly enjoyed the fresh warm baquettes and chocolate filled croissants every day.

The train to all the Paris sites is only a block away.

We cannot speak highly enough of Maggie. Maeggie lives in the apartment above. On the first day, Maeggie took the time to walk us around Montmartre to show us the patisseries, grocery stores, pharmacists, restaurants and location of the train station. Maeggie is such a warm person and we thank her for her hospitality and ensuring that we had everything we needed during our stay. You couldn't ask for a more perfect hostess.

We will definitely recommend the Villa Montmartre to all our friends and hope that someday we will be able to return to Paris and stay at Villa Montmartre and see Maeggie again.

      In one word: perfect.

Left on 05/14/2012 for a stay in April 2012

Maeggie Mailliet, owner of the apartment, fulfills all of your needs--and beyond--from exceptional initial greeting, settling-in information, and making you feel at total ease in Montmartre. (What "perfect" breads, cheeses, seafood, wines, cinemas, restaurants, unique specialty shops, etc. right around the corner.)

Mme. Mailliet provides an apartment graced with impeccable taste: art and beauty abounds. You can cook as if at home (all "batterie de cuisine" at one's fingertips), and even on rainy days, an eclectic library provides not only wonderful leisure reading, but excellent French travel guides, etc.

In the veritable hub of Montmartre, the apartment is located in an unexpected private-garden environment.

What more could one ask for?

P.S. Of course other details: International TV, CD player, radio, washer, dryer, dishwasher, etc...

Left on 05/10/2012 for a stay in April 2012

My family and I only spent a week in Paris but Maeggie made us feel right at home.
She is a very kind person and we became friends right away. She was always available whenever we had questions and she had very good advice about every aspect of Paris such as which restaurants and cafes were worth eating at and where we needed to make reservations first.
We absolutely loved the apartment and neighbourhood.
Everything you need from groceries to wine to the Metro is a short walk from your front door. I really miss getting up in the morning and walking to the local bakery for baguettes and pastries for breakfast.
In the evenings, you can get a good night's sleep without being woken up by loud noises coming from the streets like in other parts of Paris.
We felt really safe staying at Maeggie's apartment due to the privacy and security it provides. Everyone we met greeted us with a "Bonjour" every day and made us feel like we were part of the neighbourhood.
I know the next time we travel to Paris, we will want to stay in this apartment again.
We highly recommend this apartment to anyone looking to spend their vacation in Paris.

Thank you, Maeggie, for your help in making our stay in Paris wonderful.

Perfect accommodation for a Paris stay in Montmartre

Left on 03/20/2012 for a stay in March 2012

We stayed at Maeggie's Montmartre apartment for 8 nights in March 2012. It is lovely! The apartment is as well equipped as our home ...from kitchen utensils to a great shower and very comfortable beds . Maeggie has done a lovely job in decorating it and it is vey comfortable. The garden outside is truly charming and the trees started to get their leaves while we were there. I only wish we had more time to sit there and enjoy the peace and quiet of this inner garden right in the heart of Montmartre! The location is great ...near several Metro stops and very useful buses. The neighborhood is full of great markets, fromageries, restaurants. The surrounding area is also full of history as it was home to many great artists (Renoir, Picasso) who lived and worked there during their careers. Maeggie, the owner, was extremely helpful during our stay and we feel we have made a friend in Paris during our visit. We give this apartment and our experience the highest rating.

      Couldn't be better.

Left on 02/15/2012 for a stay in January 2012

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Montmartre at this wonderful apartment. It was very clean and certainly on the generous side in terms of size for Paris. After travelling through Italy and staying at hotels, it was great to have the use of a proper kitchen, Washing Machine, Dryer, and Wi-Fi.

We found Maeggie a very helpful and gracious owner who helped make our stay in Paris really special. For instance, Maeggie makes sure she shows you the best places to eat and drink in Montmartre and is always available to answer questions and provide recommendations.

We had no problems with the location and were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go (Eiffel Tower, Louvre, Musee D'Orsay, etc.). As we had 12 days there this was not a problem, if you had a shorter period you'd probably need to take the Metro (although there are two stops less than 5 minutes away).

We have already recommended the apartment to many friends back home, and, hope to be able to come back in the future.

      Wonderful apartment and host

Left on 02/14/2012 for a stay in February 2012

From the moment we arrived Maeggie was wonderful. The spacious apartment itself was an truly Parisian experience. Everything that one could need was there.

The location in Montmarte was excellent; highly recommended if this is the part of Paris you have your heart set on as there are very few good hotels close by. The experience of going out in the morning to fetch fresh bread and pastry's (from the baker names 'the best in Paris in 2010') was perfect, as were the local bars and restaurants.

The only downside was the temperature in the bedroom; while the living room was wonderfully warm and stood up to the -15 degrees outside, the bedroom did not retain heat as well. Maeggie, of course, did everything she could to rectify this (from checking the radiators, providing more blankets and even offering my girlfriend a coast!) Aside from this minor gripe (due to a highly unusual circumstance) I would recommend this to anyone looking for a different option to staying in an (overpriced) boutique hotel.

We would most certainly stay again.

      Maggie Saved The Day!

Left on 01/29/2012 for a stay in December 2011

Let's face it, family holidays can be fraught. Even the best-laid plans can unravel. And sometimes stuff just doesn't work. So you can imagine how we felt after 12 hours of flight delays to what was already a 23 hour journey to Paris from australia. Oh, and then there was the luggage - well actually, there wasn't. But then we saw it. A beacon of light in the shape of Maggie Maillet. She scooped us up, brushed us down and before we knew it, life was back to normal. She organised transport, she found our luggage and got us re-acquainted with it, she personally escorted us (wife and daughters 14 and 12) to the best local restaurants, and she even made sure we understood the quickest bus and metro routes. Simply amazing. Needless to say, it helped that her quaint Parisien apartment was spotlessly clean, ideally-equipped, warm and perfectly located. Maggie and Montmartre won the day. Don't even think about staying anywhere else.

A lovely home away from home in Paris

Left on 01/07/2012 for a stay in August 2011

I stayed at Maeggie's lovely apartment last august for a week, and it was even better than I could have imagined. After looking at the beautiful photos here and on Maeggie's website, and reading all of the wonderful reviews, I had high expectations, but these expectations did not come close to the actual experience. The apartment is beautiful and clean and impeccably decorated, with wonderful art and great amenities, but also very comfortable, with everything you'll need to "live" there. Maeggie was so warm and friendly and helpful from the moment that I wrote to her about renting the apartment, and was the same in person. It was nice to know she was nearby if I needed anything, and of course she had some helpful hits for me during my stay (in person, and also in the folder of information she leaves for her guests).

The apartment's location is wonderful - you have Rue Lepic and the food shops/market outside your door and the shops and cafes on Rue des abbesses a few steps away, and two close Metros to take you to other places in the city. But waking up each morning and opening all the windows, looking out onto the gardens below, listening to the birds happily chattering, and making and sitting drinking coffee in my favorite mug, it was sometimes hard to leave! But the courtyard, with its various entry ways, is quite magical, and just leaving the apartment was a special experience - I looked forward to it each time! And of course, Paris is an amazing city to explore, and coming home to this apartment just makes the experience even better. Whenever I go back to Paris (soon I hope!) I want to stay in Maeggie's apartment. I couldn't imagine staying anywhere else.

The apartment was everything I had hoped it would be. A typical parisian building, spotlessly clean and modern inside, with everything a family could need. The beds were very comfortable and there are some wonderful books to look at.
There is access to public transport just a short 5 minute walk fron the apartment. The Moulin Rouge and Sacre Coeur are very close by, as are many bakeries, butchers, delicatessens, cafes, restaurants supermarkets and other shops. All in all, a clean, comfortable and lovely place to stay.

      A Home away From Home

Left on 11/29/2011 for a stay in October 2011

Our desire for our first trip to Paris was to experience the city as the locals do. Upon meeting the gracious and kind Maeggie we knew our stay in Paris would be exceptional; and after her tour of the area and eateries, we felt a part of Parisian life.

We were at home immediately in the luxuriously appointed Villa Montmartre. Its beauty and ambiance as represented on the website are true to life. Light, airy, exquisitely decorated, extremely well conceived and enveloped by lovely gardens.

Montmartre is a charming locale, the apartment is ideally situated here as a perfect base to explore Paris with two metro stops within walking distance, as well as taxis and buses nearby; and award winning bakeries and exceptional restaurants just around the corner. We were wonderfully at ease here. It was a great feeling to retire safely to a privatized estate and relax in an elegant and quiet apartment at the end of each day and still be so close to the bustle of city life.

It was a privilege to have stayed at Villa Montmartre and we felt blessed to have met Maeggie, she set the tone for a wonderful experience in Paris. Our comfort and happiness were a priority to her personally and this was reflected in every aspect of the apartment.

We have recommended Villa Montmartre to all family and friends as an attainable luxury. Our very high expectations were exceeded and our Parisian experience that we had hoped for was fulfilled.

      Montmatre- c'est magnifique

Left on 10/22/2011 for a stay in October 2011

Our stay was magical and I will have the memories of staying at Maeggie's apartment with me for a long time. Montmatre is a wonderful place with beautiful shops selling incredible cheeses, bread, fresh fruit and vegetables, tarts, meat.. It is like a perennial market neighbourhood. All these stores are just outside your doorstep.

The apartment itself is truly lovely. The complex is very quiet, safe/secure and beautifully kept and presented with a great sense of style. It was so lovely to stay there I looked forward to coming back 'home' to spend time there reading a book and looking out at the pretty gardens.

The apartment has every conceiveable feature- dishwasher, washing machine/dryer, stove, microwave but it is the shower I was really in love with. It was a very attractive bathroom and it was possible to preset the water temperature and pressure. It was heaven.

Maeggie is a terrific manager who made sure we were very comfortable. She told us about the area, made us feel at home and struck a perfect balance between letting us do our thing and being well looked after.

      Highlight
Definitely recommend buying local cheeses, a baguette, some French red wine, slices of rhubarb and chocolate tarte tartin and eating it at the table in the apartment. At the same time listening to the local classical music radio station thinking about your day experiencing the style, class and wonderment of Paris. Wish I was there now.

      At home in Paris

Left on 05/25/2011 for a stay in May 2011

5 stars all the way around.
Maeggie is a super hostess. She gives you a tour of the area at the beginning of your stay that helps you slip into the Parisian way of life on your first outing. Because the Montmartre area is small and personal, we kept running into Maeggie on the streets and each time she would make us feel so welcome and comfortable to the area, more like good friends rather than another tourist.
For us a big delight was to be able to go out each day and do the daily food shopping like a Parisian. No impersonal, big grocery store experience here. We shopped our way thru the wine market, the fromage shop, the rotisserie chicken vendor, and then of course the bakery (the 2010 and 2011 Best Baguette in Paris winners were short walks, both on rue des abbesses, great desserts as well) Mom-in-Law lived off the coffee éclairs at both bakeries.
The apartment - Beautiful weather in early May, we opened all the large windows in the apartment and let the sounds of Paris life float in (at the perfect volume). Birds singing, folks enjoying a family BBQ, children playing.
Great location, it felt secluded and private, yet just a few paces any direction took you to such diverse places. The Sacré-Coeur area with the basilica and all its artsy vendors at the Place du Tertre, go to the Dali Museum while there. The other direction took you to the "red light district” with the famous Moulin Rouge - great night photography for sure. Then of course there were all the great cafes, and shops to roam around in all day long!
The other parts of Paris are within easy reach. The metro station(s) were close and the system simple to use, and got you to 'central Paris' (or anywhere in Paris) in minutes.
I guess to sum it up - Maeggie, her apartment, and it's location will afford you the opportunity to embrace both the personal side of Paris as well as it's wonderful more 'touristy' side.

This apartment is what I consider to be a classic french apartment - stylish, bright, and in a great location for sightseeing as the Metro is a short walk away. It is in a private courtyard which is peaceful, yet just beyond the gate Paris is bustling. We liked it because we could come and go as we pleased and have our meals when we wanted them. The food shops are very close along Rue Le Pic and Maeggie the owner walked us along the street pointing out all the best ones. There is a Monoprix mini supermarket near the Metro so you have all you need. Equally there are a number of good restaurants on the same street. I would recommend this apartment, it is comfortable, calm and clean

A truly beautiful apartment in Montmartre

Left on 03/01/2011 for a stay in February 2011

I stayed in this apartment for two unforgettable weeks in early 2011, writing in the mornings, running and cycling through Paris in the afternoons, and going out to many cafes and restaurants at night. The apartment is equipped for elegant living, and it has natural light filling the rooms from three sides. The building is beautiful and probably the envy of all the other nice buildings in its lovely courtyard. You may be a tourist on the street, but you are not in this courtyard or this apartment -- it is an authentic Parisian experience, and very safe and friendly. The last time in Paris, I stayed a few days at the Marriott Rive Gauche. It's a nice hotel, but I'd honestly assign it one-tenth the value and experience of staying in this apartment, which puts you in a hopping neighborhood, just steps away from (for example) the Moulin Rouge and Van Gogh's Paris apartment on rue Lepic. Maeggie Mailliet, the owner, is utterly delightful, lovely, helpful, and kind. If she recommends something to you, like the Studio 28 theatre or the Italian restaurant just a few doors away, trust her and do it (e.g. I found out later that this very affordable restaurant ranks in the top 5% of 6,000+ restaurants in Paris). She has impeccable taste! A+ all the way.

Beautiful, peaceful Parisian home away from home

Left on 03/01/2011 for a stay in February 2011

Maggie's clean, spacious, comfortable, contemporary apartment is nestled within a beautiful courtyard and garden. You are right in the heart of the city, so it's easy to get around yet you feel like you are within your own special secret corner of Paris.

Maggie, who lives in the apartment above, was a very gracious host and even took us on a little tour of the neighbourhood when we first arrived. It made us feel at home straight away and her restaurant recommendations were great.

Fantastic delicatessens, boulangeries, patisseries, cafes and restaurants are all within walking distance. There are also some great fashionable boutiques and the Sacre Coure is only 10 minutes walk from the apartment.

We loved the apartment and the area and would stay there again on our next trip to Paris.

A peaceful spot in a bustling neighborhood

Left on 01/27/2011 for a stay in January 2011

Maeggie's apartment is in one of four or five buildings at the dead end of a short street with protected access. The gardens give one the illusion of being away from the hustle and bustle of Paris. We had stayed in another apartment in one of the other two buildings three years ago. When it was booked, the owner referred us to Maeggie. My husband is in his element buying food and wine and loves to cook so Maeggie's apartment is in an ideal location for us--just off rue Lepic with its food shops lined up one after the other enticing passersby with their aromas.

The only caveat is that Montmartre is not within walking distance of the grand museums, restaurants and churches--Sacre Coeur excepted of course. On the other hand, the metro and bus stop are very close.

The apartment is very comfortable and beautifully decorated. It is on the corner of the building so has lots of windows. The kitchen is well stocked with utensils, etc. which of course is what my husband most appreciated.

And Maeggie, who lives in an apartment on the next floor, could not have been nicer or more helpful. We will return.

Not only is the apartment beautiful - stylish, immaculate, quiet, and so comfortable - it is also set in the most perfect private garden, in the heart of the friendliest, warmest, most welcoming neighborhood imaginable. Two Metro stops are a 5 minute walk away, wonderful patisseries, boulangeries, caf?s and restaurants abound, the shopping in the neighborhood is excellent, and beautiful Sacre Coeur is a 12 minute walk up the hill. We stayed at Maeggie's apartment in the Montmartre district of Paris for 2 weeks and we loved it. We had no experience in France, but by staying in this apartment and having Maeggie's help, we learned where to go, where to shop, and she was there when we needed help, but never intrusively. The area is delightfully busy with shoppers, the cafes were bustling, but when we entered the apartments we had peace. We had all the conveniences. The apartment is light and cheerful. By having the high-speed Internet we could plan our next day's adventure. We feel very fortunate we met Maeggie and that we stayed in her apartment for a very special trip.

The flat and its furnishings and decor and especially the hostess were charming. There are plenty of nearby shops to augment daily life -- bakeries, specialty food shops, cafes, restaurants. The location of the flat itself is within a unique and fascinating enclosed complex of a number of buildings mostly of the 18th and 19th centuries. The only drawback is that it is quite far from the central city; public transportation is very good but time consuming especially on an extended stay.

Maeggie is a great host - red wine and flowers on arrival, then a tour of the local shops - where to go for patisseries, meat, cheese, baguettes, wine, groceries etc and recommendations for restaurants. She showed us where to get the busses for each direction and was most helpful as to things to see and do and any other things like ( again) how to use the washer / dryer etc along the way. The main bedroom is spacious with plug in internet access (bring your own laptop) at the large desk. Lots of Paris guides in the apartment. Our teenage daughter had the fold out double bed in the lounge and plenty of storage space. The walk up two flights was OK to get to the unit (Monmartre is not flat anyway for getting around) Thoroughly recommended and hope to go back again.

I've traveled to Paris a number of times for work and pleasure but always left feeling like I had rushed around seeing everything and yet not experienced all that much beyond hotels and major attractions. Loving what I had seen of the city, I wanted to take up temporary residency with a sense of leisure, shop and eat locally, and explore the off the beaten path neighborhoods. This apartment was absolutely perfect - comfort and location. Maeggie as a neighbor added to the richness of the experience - we were well cared for. I loved the peace of the apartment in the midst of busy Montmartre, especially having a kitchen. I loved this neighborhood full of good food shops and restaurants. I loved most exploring on foot the side streets away from the main tourist areas, walking from there to La Chapelle (buy african fabrics and food and Indian items along the way and then eat lamb curry at Dishny) and stroll the Bassin de Villette and the St Martin Canal, south to Republique (great boutiques). All in all, the best experience in Paris yet!

I stayed at Maeggie's apartment with my husband and two teenage daughters for eight fabulous days.
The apartment is a real home away from home, with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The decor is lovley. It was perfectly clean, with comfortable beds (including the sofa bed, which our girls shared) and Maeggie's hospitality was faultless. We arrived to a lovely welcome of fresh french bread, the most beautiful cheese, jam, coffee, fruit and a bottle of wine. FABULOUS!!!

I wasn't expecting the staircase when we arrived, and that could be a problem for anyone unable to cope with 3 flights of stairs, or a very large amount of baggage. But we would definitely stay there again, and would recommend it to anyone else going to Paris. We really felt at home there, and would absolutely love to go back again.

The surrounding area of Montmatre is filled with market streets with the best quality food we have ever eaten, and the transport options within easy walking distance were fantastic. After walking all over the city, we decided that we were definitely in the right place for top quality, easy acess to beautiful food!

Wonderfully cute location and property. My Wife and I brought our one year old and enjoyed the little park out front and the local markets for food.
For the price, I don't think you get much better accommodations.
      Some of the best aspects:
-Location to local metro/bus service to get around
-Easy to get to from the airport via taxi or metro
-Quailty of the apartment (very clean and modern)
-Maeggie - gives great advice and ensures you have the very best visit
      Things to be aware of:
It is a bit of a hike to central Paris and the major attractions. Expect about a 15 or 20 min. ride on the metro or bus. Had we been without our one year old, it would have been a non-issue as the metro is super easy and the bus system is good too. We still made it work with little issues, just allocated more time in the day for commuting.

While planning our first trip to Paris, I found tons of sites that offered
apartments for rent in the city. Checking Tripadvisor, I read great reviews
for Villa Montmartre. I liked what I saw and decided to go with this.
Emailing Maeggie was great. She responded quickly and was very helpful.
When we got to Paris, we discovered that the apartment looked exactly liked
it did in the pictures on the website--beautiful. And, Maeggie was a terrific
host. As a welcoming gift, she had a fresh baguette and cookies waiting for
us to enjoy. She also gave us a tour of the neighborhood. We really liked
having Maeggie upstairs from us. When we had questions (like where to
catch the bus or Metro or suggestion on a restaurant) she was available. She
also arranged for our transportation for our departure. However, she was
not intrusive or nosey at anytime! We liked the neighborhood and how
convenient it was to take the Metro or bus to other arrondissements. I can't
think of any drawback to this apartment. It wasn't huge, but it was plenty
big enough for my husband, my 25-year old daughter (who slept on the
fold-out couch) and myself. We will definitely stay here the next time we go
to Paris and highly recommend it to others.

We found Maeggie's apartment online and liked the positive reviews, so my husband, myself and our two teenage daughters decided to spend four nights at her apartment in Montmartre over Christmas. She greeted us and even helped us parallel-park our car (not easy in Paris) on a nearby street. She also showed us the around the neighborhood and helped us figure out the buses and the Metro.

The building that the apartment is in dates from the 1700's. The apartment itself is off the noisy streets and faces an inner courtyard and park. Very private and quiet. Maeggie has many interesting pieces of artwork in the apartment, and if you have any questions, she lives right upstairs!

All in all, I would highly recommend this special apartment and the owner to anyone who wants a positive and memorable Paris experience. Merci Maeggie!

      Paris visit

Left on 07/12/2009 for a stay in June 2009

We had a wonderful stay at the Villa Montmartre. My husband and I, and our two children enjoyed the visit immensely. The apartment was very spacious and conveniently located near Metro stations. The garden courtyard was beautiful and gave us nice views from our windows. It was nice to stay in an apartment and get the 'local' feel of the city and Montmartre area. Maeggie was such a gracious hostess! She was very helpful in showing us the neighborhood and also assisting us in getting transportation to the airport at the end of our stay. We can't wait until our next visit to Paris and Villa Montmartre!

Wonderful Home, A Real Parisian Experience!

Left on 07/09/2009 for a stay in April 2009

The location of this property was superb. Markets and metro transportation
footsteps away. Clean, safe, beautifully decorated with a full stocked kitchen.
Beds very comfortable. Internet worked well.
We ate in and entertained a few evenings, behaving as if we lived in Paris all
      our lives.
The owner Maeggie made our experience over the top. She greeted us w/
fresh croissants and jams. then proceeded to give us a tour of the
neighborhood, pointing out the restaurants and shops she frequented.
She answered all our questions and is truly a lovely person.
We will return to Paris and will only stay here.

Everything we expected and more. Felt welcomed, safe and secure which was very important to us as female travellers. Close to everything we needed which included groceries, metro, small department store, pharmacy, cafes and the great sites of Montemarte. Also the Moulin Rouge is a 5 minute walk away, book early to ensure no disappointments. Be sure to pack a lighter suitcase to ensure that you can make the stairs to your apartment on the second floor. Our hostess was most gracious and professional. We intend to be back to this vacation home!

      Our home in Montmatre

Left on 07/02/2009 for a stay in April 2009

We spent a week of our honeymoon in Maeggie's apartment in Montmatre and had a awesome experience. I didn't have high expectations of a 'Paris experience' due to the huge amount of tourism that this city generates but staying in Villa Montmatre really gave us that experience.

Maeggie (who lives above the apartment) was extremely helpful throughout our stay and gave us a great tour of our local surrounds which meant we ate like kings, drank coffee where it tasted good and had so many pastry treats the patisserie staff got to know our names. It really was a fabulous week.

And of course the most important thing I can say is - we would definitely stay there again.

A bright, elegant, apartment in a cool part of Paris!

Left on 07/02/2009 for a stay in May 2009

I visited the Villa Montmartre for the first time in May. The apartment is in a charming period building, sited within a complex of apartments, located in an exquisite garden, just off the rue Lepic in Montmartre. It is well-connected to other parts of Paris with four metro stations nearby, and an efficient bus service.
The apartment itself is exquisite: light, bright and elegantly appointed. With large French windows (two in the living area and three in the bedroom) overlooking the garden, and the sun streams into the flat. The bijou (but well-equipped) kitchen and shower-room are adequate for one?s needs. It is a quiet and private apartment, yet near buzzy and eclectic Montmartre with great foodshops and caf?s nearby (including the Caf? de Deux Moulins, immortalized in the movie The Fabulous Destiny of Am?lie Poulin), and a delightfully resotred arts cinema, Studio 28, which contains beautiful lamps designed by Jean Cocteau in 1948.
Maeggie Mailliet is a charming hostess, a delightful and elegant lady, who will go to great lengths to make sure you are comfortable and have an enjoyable stay in her apartment. I have already recommended the Villa Montmartre to friends and will certainly return very soon.

      A TRUE French experience!

Left on 07/01/2009 for a stay in May 2009

Aside from Maeggie being an absolute wonderful host, we found our stay in Montmartre to be amazing! This was our first trip to France/Paris, we were slightly overwhelmed upon arrival, however we settled in and enjoyed all that the city has to offer. Walking down to the markets was incredible, the food is just amazing! Maeggie's rental is spacious, inviting, convienent, clean and well equipped. We spent hours just enjoying the amazing courtyard and the grounds around the rental. This rental is worth every penny, try it and experience for yourself! Highly reccommended!

The Owner lives in the building as well and is a magnificent and caring host. She is extremely thoughtful and attentive to the needs of the guest.

We loved our experience at Villa Montmartre and are anxiously looking forward to our next visit...

      Oasis in Paris

Left on 07/01/2009 for a stay in June 2009

Tucked away within the heart of Montmartre off rue Lepic, we discovered Maeggie and her beautiful, elegant, tranquil apartment in a restored heritage house with a leafy green courtyard. We could walk easily to Place Pigalle and Sacre Coeur, and with a little more effort to the Opera, Louvre and Notre Dame. It is also within easy reach of the Metro and is served by a slew of regular buses. The apartment itself is gorgeous - well-equipped, spacious, light and airy - certainly good value for money in this very expensive city. The communication beforehand was great, despite a slight blip with the international money transfer system (the bank's fault, no one else's), and everything exceeded our expectations. Maeggie is a delight to deal with, and provided us with a lot of additional information based on her thorough knowledge of the area and the city in general. There is no question we would return - in fact, we'd trade it for our own house any time!

      Oasis in the 18th

Left on 07/01/2009 for a stay in January 2009

I've stayed at Villa Montmartre several times and have always enjoyed it
immensely. The apartment, which sleeps 4 is extremely clean and beautifully
decorated. The owner who lives upstairs is incredibly nice and helpful - you
won't find another like her in Paris! The private courtyard outside of the apt. is
absolutely stunning and makes one feel as if they have found some place
secret and very special. Views outside the apartment, particularly in summer
but year round are delightful and above all - the apt is quiet, unlike many
others that might front onto a busy street. The area that the place is situated
in the 18th is convenient to metro and the Rue Lepic area is easily the most
adorable one in the 18th. There are countless shops and restaurants and
good markets nearby. One can really enjoy a more intimate side of Paris and
live like a local if you are lucky enough to be able to stay at Villa Montmartre.
