Description from the owner
This romantic and beautiful studio apartment has been renovated with the utmost attention to detail. Located on a quiet one-way street which was made famous by the hit movie “Le Fabuleux Destin d’Amelie Poulain” (yes that Amelie!), it promises you a stay to remember.
As a very spacious studio, the apartment is well laid-out to feel very large and yet still cozy. From the high-security front door one enters into a small foyer, which connects to both the bathroom and the bedroom area. The very comfortable Queen-sized bed is framed with ample storage space. High quality linens adorn the bed. This bedroom area can be separated from th...Read more
Romantique Montmartre- Luxury Studio Hideaway
18th Arrondissement Butte-Montmartre, Ile-de-France (Paris Region), France
Additional Location Information
It's a vibrant and fun artistic neighborhood. For your information, the apartment is on Rue des Trois Fréres, which is where some of the filming for the movie "Amélie" was done. The street is also parallel to the main shopping street where you'll find great restaurants, lots of fresh produce shops and boutiques etc. The closest metro stop is Abbesses. Metro stops Pigalle and Blanche are also quite close by. There is also a larger supermarket (Carrefour) a few streets away where I normally do my own grocery shopping when needed.
The famous landmark of the "Sacre Coeur Basilica" as well as the "Place du Tertre" where many artists still work are just a short walk up the hill. Also in the neighborhood are the cabarets "Moulin Rouge" and "Lapin Agile". Nearby there is also the Salvador Dali Museum, the 9th century-old street Saint-Rustique, the small Clos vineyard in the Rue Saint-Vincent, which continues the tradition of wine production in the Île de France (yields about 500 litres per year), and the Cimetière de Montmartre, where many famous giants in the arts and sciences lay buried (e.g. Hector Berlioz, Emile Zola, Leo Delibes, Edgar Degas, Gautier, Ninjinsky). The Musée de Montmartre is in the house where the painter Maurice Utrillo lived and worked in a second-floor studio. The house was also Pierre-Auguste Renoir's first Montmartre address. Picasso, Vlamenck, Derain, Soutine, Modigliani, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, Van Gogh and countless others lived and worked in these narrow Montmartre streets. Ernest Hemingway used to eat at Au Clairon des Chasseurs. Downhill to the southwest is the red-light district of Pigalle.
Montmartre was the setting of the film La Môme, (La Vie en Rose) which elaborates on the life of famous French singer Edith Piaf and her times in the slums of Paris, and of Amélie, the story of a young Parisian woman determined to help the lives of others and find her true love, is set in an exaggeratedly quaint version of contemporary Montmartre. 2001's Moulin Rouge was also set in Montmartre, the story of a young man who believes in truth, beauty, freedom, and love, and who falls in love with a famous courtesan. 1954's Moulin Rouge, solely about the life and lost loves of painter Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, also took place in the district. You will have a great time in the vibrant and romantic neighborhood.
