Left on 03/08/2013 for a stay in February 2013

We look for halldis apartments when ever we travel. Great staff, great apartments and always in great locations! This apartment has two bathrooms which is unheard of for a one bedroom. The rooms are large and beautifully decorated.

      Dream Vacation

Halldis was very helpfull and kind in all our needs. The apartment is beautifull and the location could not be better. If you don't mind about the stairs for a second floor apartment, do not think twice. We loved it. The kitchen is great, the living room is very big, the internet worked fine and is very fast, the bedroom is very confortable and the bathroom is very good, with the washing and drying machine working great.

      Great, but...

Left on 07/02/2012 for a stay in May 2012

This is a really beautiful apartment, well maintained and tastefully furnished, in one of the best and most central districts of Paris. The management was helpful, and there was no fuss getting in or out.

It's also two blocks away from what is possibly one of the best bakeries in the world, Pain de Sucre. You should go there even if you don't rent this place.

      So what's the "but..."?

      There are three of them:

      1) If you're tall, the low doorway into the bathroom is hazardous. It's at about a 5'8" height, just high enough that I kept forgetting about it and painfully smashing my head. If I owned the apartment, I'd definitely have that doorway raised.

      2) I don't think there's any air conditioning. We didn't need it, but I didn't see any either.

      3) It has fantastic giant window/doors all across the living room. They let in a lot of light and a lot of air, but there are no screens at all on any window. So if it is hot and you do need to get some ventilation, insects will find their way in.

To sum it up, this apartment is perfect for:
      - Shorter people (5'7" or under), or people who can remember to duck every time they go to the bathroom.
      - Spring or fall (it might be drafty and cold in the winter because of the huge beautiful windows)

If you meet that description and are renting it for those times, go for it. The place is lovely and the neighborhood is too.

A wonderful location and a wonderful apartment

Left on 04/16/2012 for a stay in April 2012

We have stayed in several apartments throughout Paris and have deliberatley booked this one, having stayed in it before. It is central to all the key sites, spacious and offers every modern amenity. The comfort and style is just lovely and staying in the Marais means great food, chic bars and an eclectic slice of Parisien life. All in all this is an ideal location for a first time visitor or for those who know the city and want to feel at home. I will certainly be back in this apartment! Halldis check in and service is superb, with well-informed and pleasant staff.

Ups: Perfect location, good size, authentic design, quiet, clean and comfortable. Pictures on the website are authentic.

Downs: Leak in the bathroom with nylons covering it on the floor, rather expensive.

The good, The bad, and the ugly

Left on 12/22/2011 for a stay in December 2011

First the good: The apartment was nice and well appointed with a small but well designed and equipped kitchen, bathroom, and high end appliances all around including washer and dryer, etc. It was simply but nicely furnished. The area is safe and lively with many bars and restaurants.

Now the bad: The building is old, stairs are worn and dangerous, worst the existence of Chinese Cultural Center downstairs meant no rest on weekends. A slew of Chinese youngsters and Teenagers cluttered the door ways all day Sat and Sunday and the sound of drums until wee hours of the night drove us crazy. This should have been disclosed to us. Also neighbors upstairs were doing construction starting at midnight (no kidding we heard all kinds of equipment)! We called the police one night and had to knock on the door the next night, Definitely not a quite apt. or peaceful vacation.

The ugly: Half the bathroom was ripped for repair and there was a huge hole blocking access to W/D which was not disclosed to us. We were told we will be given a discount which was never sent.

We thank you for your comment and we hope that you will choose Halldis again for your future stays.

      A Week in Paris

Left on 10/17/2011 for a stay in September 2011

My husband and I recently spent a week in Paris at this lovely apartment. It is very comfortable, with adequate space, light and airy and generally quiet. The location is excellent with every type of food shop, cafes and restaurants close by. The apartment is close to Metro stations and 6 minutes walk from the Seine. We loved being in the Marais area with all of its history.

This apartment is bright, airy and comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked with utensils and apartment is in a secure building. It is nice to look out onto the greenery in the courtyard. Best to stay here if you are looking to stay in the Marais area and like things to be busy. If you are looking for wide footpaths and a gentrified Paris then you will not find that here.

You will either love it or hate it

Left on 05/19/2011 for a stay in April 2011

43 Rue du Temple is an acquired taste. You will either love it or hate it. After staying a month in this apartment, my wife and I think we know this apartment well. Its 60m2 is large by Paris standards and is enough for two people with separate living area, double bedroom, en-suite bathroom, separate toilet and kitchen. It has a well appointed kitchen, enough plates and utensils to have a dinner party (sorry, only three dining chairs), washing machine and dryer, TV (try watching a 15 inch laptop from 3 metres), stereo and free cable internet (very fast but not not wireless). It is very central, close to metro, shops and all the sights and attractions. Unfortunately, it is also next to a court yard that houses several theatrical studios, a small theatre and a restaurant. If you like sopranos for breakfast, Spanish dancers for lunch, African drums for dinner, a restaurant that does not close until 2am, an upstairs neighbour that thinks their apartment is a bowling alley and workmen that start using electric drills on the outside walls at 7am, this apartment is for you. The second floor location (a climb of 51 steps) is not recommended for unfit asthmatics. Only one set of towels and bed linen is supplied. A request for extra linen was happily met by the agent. If you like being where the action is and don't mind the noise, activity and lifestyle of the Marais, this place is for you. If you seek peace and quiet, a slower pace and relaxed atmosphere, you may want to go elsewhere.

      Location Location!

Left on 11/10/2010 for a stay in October 2010

We stayed in this wonderful apartment for 2 weeks and loved it.
Raffaella was extremely efficient to deal with on email when booking and there were no problems there, Marco who met us upon arrival was great, he spent alot of time answering all our questions and giving us tips on the best local places to visit.
The apartment is in a great part of Le Marais walkable to fantastic bistro's, bakerys, vintage stores, museums and Metro stations...really the best area to be in with everything you could need.
The apartment is warm and comfortable with huge windows to let in light from the internal courtyard of the block, so would be perfect for summer or winter stays.
Well equipped Kitchen and separate from the lounge area which is nice, also an extra bathroom at the entrance.
Comfortable bed and en-suite bathroom is great with a window that opens onto the courtyard of the dance studio next door, so nice to hear the ballet music or tango whilst having a bath!
My only gripe would be to recommend that an extra set of sheets and pillow cases be provided so that guests don't have to wash and dry the only set when staying for longer than a few days.
Also wireless connection was not easy to set up at all, I resorted to using a cable which limited me to the dining table only, although fast connection.
Look forward to staying here again and will recommend Halldis to any friends visiting Paris!
      Thank you Raffaella & Marco!
