Description from the owner

Montmartre Romantic Studio-Loft

This 55-square-meter apartment has been revamped in May 2006 with the help of our good friend - Parisian artist, Bruno Pascal. The apartment sleeps 5 people. It can be rented together with the Luxury unit and the Feng-Shui unit in the same building at special combo-rates.

The eye-catcher is an original work of art called "Laudanum" by Lisa Holden in the Pre-Raphaelite style. The term itself originated in relation to the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, an influential group of mid 19th-century avante garde painters associated with Ruskin who had great effect upon British, American, and European art.

Left on 11/27/2012 for a stay in November 2012

We stayed in 3 of the 4 apartments owned by Peter, all of which were amazingly architected and designed, in fact a few of them are listed in architectural publications. Each apartment was unique catering to specific use cases; romantic getaway for 2, comfortable vacation for a small family, etc. Our experience in all 3 was fantastic as we had grandma in one apartment and the family in another (we transfered grandma from one to another after 2 days so she could be next door to us).

Peter and his wife were fantastic hosts/renters. The communication was seamless via email and phone (we are in us); answering all of our questions and going well beyond the renter responsibilities by offering detailed descriptions of the neighborhood - where to eat, what to see, etc. as well as personally delivering a bottle of very nice champagne. They are wonderful people and were a pleasure to deal with on all levels ranging from payment, deposit return (very speedy, within a couple days) to accommodating our switching of rooms.

We look forward to our next stay at these apartments and highly recommend them to anyone staying in Paris as they are centrally located in a nice part of town surrounded by schools, restaurants and transportation (1.5 blocks to Metro) and 3 to Gare Du Nord.

      Excellent experience!

Peaceful getaway in the middle of Paris

Left on 09/19/2012 for a stay in September 2012

My 72 year old mother and I were going to stay here for 3 nights. My husband ended up joining us. For two people the apartment would be absolutely perfect. For three people, lets just say you better be very comfortable with each other because it is a one room apt--but we knew that. There were restaurants, shops and a laundromat close by. There are 2 metro stops very close by. The kitchen is adequate for anything we wanted to do. It was nice that there were food items to get you started. Our favorite time was sitting in the bar stools by the windows facing into the quiet courtyard to rev back up before heading out for dinner. The shower is great. The CD music collection was very enjoyable too.

Would highly recommend for a family of 4.

Left on 08/29/2012 for a stay in August 2012

We stayed in the Romantic Loft apartment for 5 nights. It was perfect for our family of 4 (kids ages 10 and 13). It was so much more affordable than staying in a hotel since we would have needed to have two hotel rooms. Very few hotels have the ability to sleep more than two people in a room, and hotel rooms in Paris are traditionally tiny. The apartment was spatious, well-furnished, extremely clean, and the beds were very comfortable. There was no street noise as the windows open onto a nice courtyard. The neighborhood felt very safe, and there were plenty of restaurants, bakeries, groceries stores, and a nice laundromat within one or two blocks. The apartment was close to Sacre Coeur and within a very short walk from a few metro stations and Garre Du Nord. We walked from Garre Du Nord at 10:00 at night with our huge rolling suitcases and felt very safe in this relatively quiet, non-touristy, residential neighborhood. The owner was extremely helpful via email before the trip and provided us with many suggestions for things our kids might enjoy. The website also had several suggestions for restaurants, activities, etc. I would definitely recommend this apartment to our friends and look forward to staying here on our next trip to Paris.

Here is an apartment located close to the Sacre Coeur! Very quiet and bright apartment with large volumes. Thank you to Peter for all the advice and Ms. Esteves for his availability. Right in the Montmartre area it is also easy to stroll and discover the Heart of Paris away from the tourist bustle. A charming place that I recommend!

A great find in Montmartre, Paris

Left on 05/29/2012 for a stay in May 2012

This lovely apartment was just as advertised and provided a wonderful spot to sight see from. The beds were extremely comfortable and the shower was lovely and both Peter and his on site person (Mme Esteves) were most pleasant to deal with. If you like to travel without feeling like you are in a sterile hotel, then this is the spot for you! My sister and her husband joined me for the first week of my 2 week stay and there was plenty of room for us all. We could get around from this locale without difficulty - especially once we figured out the very convenient Metro system! Buy a packet of 10 ("carnay") and use them to get to all the things outside of Montmarte that you want to see. I would also highly recommend the night bike tour with Fat Tire Bike Tours! A totally fun evening packed with great information and seeing The City of Light at night from the Seine??? Magical! J'adore Paris!!

This apartment is in a great location for a number of reasons. The first consideration is for the ease of making your way from and to various points of arrival and departure. It is conveniently located very close to Gare du Nord and it is only doors away from an excellent airport shuttle service. Of course Montmartre district is a must-see area of Paris and it's main attractions within walking distance.
The apartment is decorated tastefully and no expense spared with the entertainment system. It is very clean, spacious and comfortable.
A great library of Dvd's, Cd's and books all add to those little extras that come with this apartment. We have stayed in this apartment twice now and will always consider a return when looking for accommodation in Paris.

Excellent location and very quiet apartment!

Left on 10/25/2011 for a stay in August 2011

Peter was very helpful providing all the necessary and important information prior to our arrival. He also called after our arrival to make sure that we were OK and he requested and welcomed feedback.

The apartment is extremely quiet as it is behind a courtyard and away from the main entrance and the street. We slept very well and noise was never an issue. We appreciated the Bang and Olufsen entertainment system and Peter's excellent music collection. Equally good is the collection of guide books of Paris including restaurants. You don't need any guides of Paris as you will everything here!

A definite highlight of the apartment is its location. I was attending a medical congress at the Parc des Expositions (Paris Nord-Villepinte) and needed to take the RER B train daily to get there. The Gare du Nord is a short walk (or just one subway stop) away so my commute was a lot shorter than most of my colleagues. If you are attending a congress there this is an ideal location.

As well, when you are ready to visit the city you have two subway stations a very short walk away (Anvers and Barbes-Rochechouart) with access to two very convenient subway lines, one which goes north to south and the other roughly west to east. Getting anywhere in the city was a breeze.

We were also very pleased with the shops in the neighbourhood where we found everything that we needed. There is a big grocery store (Carrefour) just down the street but also several excellent bakeries, wine stores, cheese stores, etc. Just a couple of blocks away you can get to the rue des Martyrs where you can find great little shops and restaurants. I definitely recommend the bakeries and pastry shops there!

We have stayed here several times over the years.

Situated perfectly for enjoying Paris without being in the middle of a tourist area. Apartment is luxury all the way from multi-positioned bed to well designed bathroom and kitchen. Lots of light, away from any noisy streets, and very secure. Landlord is always helpful.

Bus and Metro stops close by as is a large supermarket.

Montmartre area with the 2010 and 2011 best baguette winners on rue des abbesses area is a pleasant 10 minute walk. So too is the very trendy rue des Martyrs area with all its boutiques and restaurants.

If you want a worry free rental that is exactly (or better) than advertised, this is the place to stay.

We walked here from train station and met the cleaning lady there- had a funny trilingual experience with her! The location was great for accessing everything we did in Paris. Neighbourhood was safe (we came in late many times)and lots going on at night. We loved the tub! We really enjoyed it and would stay here again. We had no issues at all with deposit , payment or refund and found the owners to be very good to deal with.

      Adventurous stay in Paris

Left on 08/15/2011 for a stay in August 2011

Although it was a little bit crowed with 2 adults and 3 kids, we had a good time at the apartment. Also plenty of room for girly things because we had a separate bathroom and toilet. Our stay was adventurous, because the weather was against us. So our first walk at Montmartre ended in stormy weather and wet suits. Our visit to the Park de Vilette was a disappointment - closed on Monday. The Promenade des Plantes was nice, although the younger kids got tired when we went it all the way. Also shopping in old galleries and eating at French terraces was fun. The best moment for the kids was the climbing of the Eiffel tower all the way to the top at sunset - night, although we had not planned doing this because of the large queuing crowds. But kids can be convincing and it was their top experience.

My husband, niece and I stayed in the Romantic Loft apartment for five nights. It was wonderful. We couldn't believe how close it was to everything - supermarkets, the metro, Montemarte, Sacre Couer and a host of great little cafes, delis and restaurants. The owners are incredibly friendly and we were met by the wonderful housekeeper late at night, because we got a late flight. The apartment was central to everything, the shower amazing and it was a perfect place for the three of us to stay. We loved the selection of Dvd's and books, the available food and beverage items in the fridge and the light and quietness of the apartment. It was like a little sanctuary in the heart of the city! I stayed with my aunt and uncle in this apartment, it was in a great location, with a short walk to the metro and about 1 km from Gare de Nord- a large train station. We arrived late at night and the stocked fridge was much appreciated- a cup of tea and the option of a small snack was very handy. Tastefully furnished and ideal for 2-4 people, with a Queen-sized bed and a comfy sofa bed. I must point out that the shower head is amazing, and again the bathroom is stocked with some basic toiletries which are very handy when you haven't had time to shop yet. There's a supermarket a short walk down the road, as well as a number of grocers and patisseries, so very convenient.

Overall we had a great stay, really appreciated being able to cook our own food and be self-sufficient, unlike at a hotel. Would definitely go back!

      The perfect birthday present.

Left on 03/04/2011 for a stay in February 2011

We wanted somewhere special to celebrate Jodie's birthday and our first trip to Paris together. When we found the Montmartre Romantic Studio Loft online it looked and sounded like the perfect location to spend five days together exploring the galleries and side streets of a city so full of history and art. And it was perfect.

From our late arrival on the Friday night, when the owners arranged for someone to be waiting to let us in to show us around the apartment through to our last morning, bathing in sunlight as it streamed in through the courtyard windows, we had an amazing, fun filled, adventure holiday.

The funky, modern studio loft caters for everything a couple or small family group would need. A galley style kitchen with replaceable goodies in the fridge and on the shelves makes eating in a breeze. Add to this the comfortable beds, an excellent sound and visual entertainment system with dvds, cds and books to meet every taste. And did I mention the massage shower in the bathroom?

Located on Rue de Rochechouart, where you will find supermarkets, cafes, restaurants and retail stores within short walking distances, the Metro and bus services to the city are within five minutes walk also. Overlooking the Rue de Rochechouart is the cathedral Sacre Coeur and the world famous Montmartre district (including Amelie's cafe). From the apartment we were able to enjoy interesting walks to the Louvre and Champs Elysees or catch a bus to the Eiffel Tower and other galleries.

Thank you Paris and Romantic Studio Loft for memories we will always cherish. Come summer we'll be back.

Chose this place based on tripadvisor reviews and was glad I did. Somehow managed to convey to Mme Estevez (who does not speak English - but I was forewarned on tripadvisor) that we would reach the apartment at 8:00am and she was waiting to let us into an apartment to store our luggage. She came back again at noon to check us in to our apartment. Thank you Mme Estevez :) Taxi fare was 40euros from CDG.

The apartment is very close to Sacre Couer and there are patisseries/groceries next door. The train station is very close as well (about 100 yards).

The apartment was very convenient for us, we had our dinner mostly in the apartment as it was fully stocked with utensils, microwave, and included a dishwasher. We did not use most of the stuff (milk, juice, shampoo, etc.) so we were not charged for it. Note that you have to pay an additional 50 euro for cleaning (which we were informed prior to booking).

Would very likely stay here next time!

The moment we entered the room, we knew that this weekend in Paris would be perfect! We immediately felt the cozy atmosphere in the 'Romantic Studio-Loft'. The design of the furniture is modern and the wooden construction of the bed and kitchen table gave us a holiday feeling. The spotlights, hifi-system and DVD player create a nice atmosphere in the loft which makes you to feel like home after a long day of sightseeing.

A Very 'Romantic' Weekend in Paris

Left on 08/10/2010 for a stay in July 2010

During a stay of three days in the cozy 'Romantic Studio', we were surprised by the serenity we experienced in a metropolis like Paris. The location of the Studio is ideal to visit the beautiful and exciting city without being exhausted after a long day. The underground station is nearby the Studio, but we made use of the 'Velib' system provided by the city: Vélos en libre-service à Paris'. It's amazing how easy you can cycle through Paris, and visit a lot within a short period of time.
Back in the studio, we enjoyed watching a movie on the B&O; television. The large option of Dvd's, Cd's and information books brought us in a world of the real 'Parisien'. The kitchen is ideal to prepare a tasty meal or a simple 'baguette au fromage avec un verre de vin rouge'.
      Highly recommended!

      Fresh and light!

Left on 08/09/2010 for a stay in July 2010

It was a humid mid 30C week. Loft perfect - large windows over a courtyard, floorboards & open plan. There's a portable air-con unit but tube often nearly fell out the window! Perfect location - 15min walk from Gare Du Nord, under Sacre Coeur, Montmartre. On the corner's a patisserie,a laundrette, the metro and a mini-mart - loft is well laid out and equipped for cooking/eating. Great bathroom. Comfortable king size bed, single bed a metre from the foot of the king and a double sofa bed all in the one room - so no privacy. They say it's suitable for 5 but I think 3 people (if all above 8yo) .For 'time out' there's a terrific B&O; with great selection of CDs, lovely books & games, DVD with a great selection of Dvds. However the TV was not working our whole stay (which was annoying because the World Cup was on but Ilse was terrific in reimbursing us for the inconvenience). Checking in would have been more difficult if I hadn't spoken French - on-site contact person only speaks French. 2 major suggestions :(a) ensuring the on-site contact person takes the time to show all the amenities (we had to ask because she would have been in & out but only what we could think of on teh spot - other things worked out on own) and (b) a 'welcome to the romantic loft' booklet that lists the features, tells you the basic steps in how to work everything, reproduces the info that is on the internet (I happened to download before leaving - lucky cause none of that info was actually there on site, eg WiFi connection), what to do in an emergency, where & what to do with rubbish/ recycling, what is to be replaced, left etc.).This would mean less reliance on check-in person .Re making the reservation, dealing with issues, responding to any queries/ requests , payment, reimbursement of deposit and communication - Ilse was fantastic.

An excellent choice for a quiet, romantic week in Montmartre are

Left on 05/05/2010 for a stay in April 2010

The housekeeper was waiting for our call when we arrived at Charles de Gaulle and when we arrived at her place, she took us to the apartment, just a few doors away. She helped us take our luggage up to our apartment and showed us everything it had to offer, then told us we could call her anytime for more information.

The apartment is very appropriately named. It is an old world, loft style studio with high ceilings and a nineteenth century charm, complemented by a state of the art Bang & Olufson flatscreen television and sound system, very up to date bathroom and kitchenette with good quality small appliances.

In the immediate neighbourhood there are some high-end food shops where we could pick up quiches, salads, prepared meals etc to eat in our apartment when we wanted an alternative from the restaurants. Many quality bakeries etc just a two- or three-minute walk away.

Now for the little problems, which don't amount to much: the toaster doesn't work properly, you have to hold the knob down to keep it going. There aren't enough pillows on the bed for two people to be comfy, so we found a latch in the bed platform that we opened to have access to more pillows and bedding. Also, some small food items such as coffee, a bottle of sparkling wine, water, were subject to a deduction to our security deposit if they were not replaced. These should be part of the rental cost. Otherwise, this is an excellent choice, and we are no strangers to VRBO, having used their services for many destinations over the past ten years.

I enjoyed my stay very much in the Romantic apartment and would reccomend to my closest friends and family!

The Romantic apartment is wonderful - great
location, great size, and very comfortable!

Location - I loved the location in the Montmartre. Great area to walk around and explore. If you enjoy walking - it is also not too far from the main attractions in Paris. The metro stop is just around the corner also.

Apartment - The Apartment is very nicely decorated, comfortable, and spacious! If you are staying for a while and want to get out of the hustle and bustle, they also have plenty of books and dvds to enjoy. All of the appliances and utencils needed are available for your use. Not to mention that the refrigerator is stocked with items you may need when you arrive so that you do not have to stob by the market right away.

Rental Process - Mme Esteves, the cleaning lady, was very friendly and helpful. (Helpful hint here - be prepared if your French is rusty... prepare your questions beforehand by writing them down!) The rental process was also very simple and Ilse was very helpful.

I loved renting the apartment and will definitely stay here again when in Paris.

      De-stressing in Paris

Left on 11/23/2009 for a stay in November 2009

We had a marvelous weekend in Paris, staying in this superb loft.
When you enter the loft and close the door, all movement comes to a rest. Having nobody to chase you, complete relaxation. Glass of Champaign, late brunch, nice bed.
When you open the door and leave the loft, you are within the center of a metropolis. The contrast couldn’t be greater. Five minutes form Montmartre, ten minutes from Galleries Lafayette with Christmas lights.
And then back in the loft. Great. Feels like being a star in a movie.

      Lovely apartment, well located

Left on 10/20/2009 for a stay in September 2009

My wife and I had the pleasure of staying in this lovely apartment just a few
minutes' walk from Anvers metro. It's close to supermarkets and far too many
patisseries, and is only 40 minutes on foot from the Louvre.

The apartment itself is spacious and surprisingly light (it faces into a
courtyard), and with all the facilities that you would expect, including a DVD
library. We were met by Mme Esteves (who doesn't speak English, but
fortunately my schoolboy French saw us through) who showed us everything
      we needed to know.

Recommended. The only thing preventing a 5-star review was that one of the
security shutters wasn't working, and couldn't be opened; I have no doubt that
this will be quickly fixed, though.

Amazing loft at a great location in Paris!

Left on 06/20/2009 for a stay in June 2009

We had a nice stay in the romantic loft. I especially liked the design. All aspects are well thought out and everything was very clean. It's nearly impossible to forget things, because of the simple fact that everything is provided eg. towels, books, dvd's, shower gel, even multiple cellphone adaptors, ...

The location is pretty decent. It's not far (as in a couple of 100 meters) from the subway. And since all the sights of Paris are easily accessible by metro, this was perfect!

If we're going to come back to Paris in the future, this is the loft we'll stay at. I'm recommending it to all my friends that want to have a romantic week(end) in Paris.

My three teenage sons, my husband and I rented this lovely apartment for nine
nights this past April. It was in an excellent area of Paris. There were several
Metro stations within walking distance, and a major train terminal also within
walking distance. It was the first vacation in which there was no need for a
taxi. The apartment had everything we needed and gave us much more room
to spread out than a hotel room would have afforded us. We would definitely
      stay here again.

      Great experience

Left on 06/10/2009 for a stay in June 2009

The moment we entered I knew this was going to be a great weekend. The shelves in the entrance room are filled with dvd's and books, mostly about Paris ofcourse.

At your left is the toilet and bathroom. The toilet is pretty small, but clean and comfortable. The bathroom is nice. The small tiles on the floor and the great shower helped me to wake up in the morning :)

The kitchen, located in the living room, was equiped with all the things you could ever need, and I do mean everything. From towels, microwaveoven to design bottle openers.

The couch/tv setup was really cool. The tv has this built in rotating system so you can watch and rotate the tv from your bed. The bed really suits the 'romantic' label for this apartment. It's a true piece of craftmanship, good pillows and all the space you'd need ;)

We thought at first that there would be a lot of noise at night, but we heard nothing at all. There's also a metro station only 2 streets away, so transportation throughout Paris went pretty smoothly.

Only 3 days in Paris was not enough, so me and my girlfriend decided to come back next year and this apartment is #1 on our list.

      Memorable Montmartre

Left on 06/04/2009 for a stay in May 2009

My wife and I have been visiting Paris in the spring for many years. At first we stayed in hotels, but found the rooms small and far to expensive. The, one year we found the Romantic Studio Loft in Montmartre. We have been using the flat for over five years now and still love the experience. We have just come back from eight glorious days in Paris staying in the flat in Montmartre.

Situated between Pigalle and Montmartre, the appartment is perfect for a stress free Parisian non-tourist holiday. Here you are instantly one of the locals. The metro takes you anywhere you wish to go. The flat is large and airy. It is well equiped, clean and well maintained. We have always felt safe in the loft and in this part of Paris.

The owner of the flat is extremely friendly and helpful and provides a wonderful service. The cleaner M Esteves, keeps the flat in a pristine condition and always leaves lovely flowers in the flat to welcome us on our arrival.

Overall this is a holiday to be savoured. Maggie and I cannot recommend it too highly.
