Saint Michel is in the Latin Quarter, an area in the 5th and parts of the 6th district of Paris, on the Left Bank of the Seine river, nearby the Sorbonne University.

Known for its lively atmosphere and bistros, the Latin Quarter is home to several higher education establishments besides the university itself, such as the Ecole Normale Superieure, the Ecole des Mines de Paris, the Schola Cantorum, and the Jussieu University Campus.

The area gets its name from the Latin language which, as the international language of learning in the Middle Ages, was once widely spoken in and around...Read more

Best Location and best view in Paris!

Left on 03/20/2013 for a stay in March 2013

What a phenomenal location in Paris with the subway and regional train station essentially directly under the flat. And the view of the city and the river and Notre Dame is not matched. The apartment manager met us upon our arrival and showed us everything we needed to know about the flat. It was extremely clean and well-appointed, with windows that opened wide, but that closed to virtual silence at night, despite the busy street below. The WiFi worked very well, which was important to us. There were even a couple English news channels so we could keep up on what was going on in the world after long days walking around Paris. We met Federico in person one day when he stopped by to check on some improvements that had been made to the flat, and he is a very friendly and helpful person. We would recommend this flat to anyone planning to spend some time in the heart of Paris.

Awsome location, comfortable studio unit with full functioning modern kitchen...right on the Seine and with a view of Notre Dame...in the hippist part of Paris. Not to mention that it's on the RER route at St. Michel one train directly from DeGaulle airport. We stayed there 6 days, and we wish it were longer.

Caution...Be prepared to carry your own luggage up about 60 stairs...no elevator

A spotless, well appointed apartment in a great location.

Left on 12/07/2012 for a stay in November 2012

The apartment has an advantage from the very beginning if you arrive by the Rer---an elevator takes you up to street level a few doors from the bldg., so the only stairs you climb are to the apt. Once there you will find an immaculate, large space with modern furnishings, a very comfortable bed, and a deep "hip bath" to relax in after a day on the town. The location is great.

Left on 11/09/2012 for a stay in September 2012

We love this place so much I think we'll try to get back here at least once a year... This being our third time it really felt like home.. Such a nice place, especially if you've had to stay a night or two in one of the local hotels where you will pay more for much less.. It's so nice to sit at the window with a bottle of chilled wine straight from the fridge and watch the world go by.. and to hit the open markets and be able to cook some of the great produce on offer.. Perfect location, perfect vibe 100% comfort and very affable owners!

      Memorable View and Central Location

Left on 10/13/2012 for a stay in September 2012

      Great apartment in Paris.

Federico made the process very easy. He patiently answered questions about the apartment and confirmed dates for us, organizing the paperwork and payments through PayPal. Check-in process, and and early checkout was no problem.

Spectacular view, of the Seine River and Notre-Dame out the apartment widows, walking passed such historic sites each day and night made the trip that much more memorable.

Latin Quarter is a very popular location and lively at times, it's part of the Paris charm so enjoy it. The apartment is within walking distance to many major sites, Notre-Dame and the Seine River of course, Concierge, Sainte Chapelle, Louvre Museum, The Centre Pompidou, Pantheon, Luxembourg Gardens, St-Germain area, Marais area, Île Saint-Louis, etc. The location is really beneficial if you want to visit the Notre-Dame towers right across the street, the earlier you can get there, the better your spot in line.

We stayed in September, the apartment is a third floor walkup through a charming entrance and staircase. There are many large windows, that you can open for ventilation, either in the front overlooking the great view, or at the back of the apartment if you prefer to close the front windows for more quite. Overall the apartment is very spacious for two people, has a bedroom area and equally large dining area, lots of space in to unpack your clothes. The kitchen is well equipped, and very functional. We were provided more than enough towels. The free telephone and Wi-Fi is great if you have your own laptop or smartphone to keep in touch or for research while you are there.

Tips: Purchase Paris Museum Pass when you arrive, and Eiffel Tower Tickets as soon as possible on-line before you go.

      Hard to beat!

Left on 09/27/2012 for a stay in August 2012

For value, location and the thrill, it is hard to beat. It is as the website shows - quality fittings and well designed. Yes the winding stairs could be a challenge for the less mobile but we loved being above the affray. The double glazing deals with the street noise most effectively. My biggest concern being tall and with a bad back was the sofa bed but it was fine. The space worked really well and the arrangements -pre and after - all went smoothly.

We really enjoyed our stay in the studio apartment along Quai St Michel. Although a few stairs to climb the view from the apartment along the Seine R. and Notre Dame was very nice and it was close to many sightseeing spots and restaurants. The apartment although not hugely spacious was well appointed with all the amenities and the complimentary bottle of red wine was very nice as well. Federico was a pleasure to deal with. The best part too was that it was close to the RER/Metro train stations which had direct links to Cdg2 airport - no train changes.

Excellent flat in an excellent location

Left on 08/03/2012 for a stay in July 2012

We spent eleven nights in this delightful flat and enjoyed every minute. It personifies the romance and excitement of Paris. Breathtaking views of the Seine in both directions, the jewel being the view of Notre Dame cathedral.

The flat is impeccably clean and well appointed, all of the necessities are are provided as are a number of amenities not usually provided in Paris rentals. The dishwasher especially made the stay more about vacation and less about housekeeping. The bed was very comfortable despite the fact that it's a fold-out. By far the most comfortable fold-out we've ever slept on.

Our only minor suggestion would be to provide a small step stool to get into the hip bath shower, my wife is not terribly tall and was concerned about slipping on the floor getting out.

Federico and Iwona were the soul of hospitality, making us feel right at home. Always available if help was needed or we had questions.

We can't recommend this flat enough!

We always looked forward to coming home and enjoying the wonderful view from our window. The apartment itself was very nice and clean with all one needed for a great holiday. We were very sorry to leave. The well equipped kitchen and the washing facilities were ideal. And don't be put off by the sofa bed - even my 5' tall wife could open and close it and my 6'4" was very comfortable in it. Plenty of food stores and reataurants nearby and the Metro round the corner. All in all, a great apartment from which to enjoy what Paris has to offer. But those views - fabulous!

      Wonderful flat in Paris!

Left on 03/19/2012 for a stay in March 2012

I just returned from a 7 day stay in this apartment, and it was the perfect place from which to explore Paris with my daughter. The apartment is centrally located in a very interesting neighborhood, and is ideal for walking to many major sights and great restaurants. If your destination is a little farther than you care to walk, the Metro stop is very close by. The location also felt very safe, and we had no concerns about coming and going at night. As the photos show, the flat itself is tastefully appointed and has everything you need for a comfortable stay, but is not cluttered with extras. We used the fully stocked kitchen to prepare fresh foods from nearby markets so we didn't have to eat every meal in restaurants. Finally, the owners were very helpful and responsive. I highly recommend this apartment!

Lovely studio in the heart of it all

Left on 01/13/2012 for a stay in January 2012

My older daughter and I passed five nights at this apartment. We were given a warm welcome by the owner who located and thoroughly explained all the amenities for us (in French, but English was offered as well).

The studio is precisely as it appears in the photographs, very efficiently laid out leaving plenty of elbow room, and was sparkling clean. It was very well equipped for two people, and we had no trouble preparing breakfast and dinner each day. The three large windows made it quite light, even during our rainy stay. The view is actually across to the police prefecture, but you can easily see both up and down the river if you lean out of the windows. Both the building and apartment were very secure as well as generally very quiet. For some reason the French allow their doors to slam, probably to be sure they are secure, but after 25 years it still startles me.

A few things to be aware: this is a third floor walk-up via circular staircases. The 3-4 lane Quais along the Seine are very busy night and day. We are city dwellers and the street noise and light did not bother us, but I wondered if I would mind the same during the warmer months when I would want to open the windows. The late-night noise from the bistro below was quite noticeable on the weekend, even through the heavy windows, but all quieted, of course, upon closing. And it's Paris -- we should have been out ourselves anyway! One glance at the map will tell you that you are in the heart of things. The elevator down to the RER is literally next door, tho the ticketing machines were not working the day we left, and we had to drag all our bags down six flights of stairs across the street after all. C'est la vie.

Federico was an excellent correspondent while we were making arrangements for our visit. Paperwork and payments were easily handled through e-mail and PayPal. I would recommend this comfortable apartment for either short or longer stays.

Really is the best view in Paris

Left on 08/13/2011 for a stay in August 2011

We stayed in this apartment recently whilst visiting Paris. The apartment is a very good size and has all the amenities you would need for a comfortable stay.

The apartment was very clean and included a very comfortable bed (first time in my month long trip I didn't get back pain), excellent facilities in the kitchen, internet, phone with free calls to australia which was very much needed as my mother passed away a couple of days earllier at home and I needed to be in touch with my family big time, and television.

I have to say that we loved Paris and I think this apartment had a lot to do with it. The view and position of the apartment is second to none, Notre Dame, the Seine, boats going up and down the river, the green box sellers across the road, the view down the river of the bridges and towards the Louvre, I can't rave enough about it. Around the back streets were windy french cobbled lanes with hundreds of restaurants and mostly touristy shops. We had no problem finding a little supermarket thanks for maps left for us and we were able to save a little money on making our own food, supplemented by cruising around the lanes at night to find excellent food and atmosphere.

I think the position of the apartment made the trip. I just loved at night opening the windows, pulling up a chair and playing on my laptop whilst keeping an eye on what was going on around outside, so much fun, I'll never forget it. The RER and Metro are just metres away to take you anywhere and it's a walk to the Louvre, Notre Dame, the Luxemborg Gardens and many other places. And of course as mentioned, the atmosphere here was amazing.

The owners were very helpful and couldn't do enough - all in all, I consider this apartment was an integral part of loving Paris as much as we did and hope to return and stay here in the future if we can.

      A Perfect Stay in Paris!

Left on 06/08/2011 for a stay in May 2011

My husband and I stayed in this flat during our visit to Paris from May 20-27, 2011, and it could not have been more perfect. The location is ideal--right in the heart of the city with an RER/Metro stop just a block away (so it's quite easy to get everywhere!), and the Latin Quarter/St. Germain neighborhoods are easily walkable. The flat itself is very well-designed and beautifully decorated, and the views from the window really are stunning. It was just the right size for two people, and it felt very elegant and modern. We loved coming home to it after a long day of exploring the city. As others have noted, the sofa bed is extremely comfortable (I, too, was skeptical!), and the kitchen is well-appointed with everything you could need. Federico was a pleasure to work with, and took great care to provide very thorough instructions before we left, so everything was very smooth with check-in and check-out.

We did find the noise from the street below to be a bit loud (especially on the weekend), so it's best to sleep with the windows closed (and very light sleepers might want to bring ear plugs). The only other minor issue we encountered was trying to only dry our clothes in the washer/dryer (without washing and then drying), which led to quite a perplexing evening as we kept inadvertently filling up the washer with water! Perhaps a translated instruction manual might be a good addition. It was wonderful to have the washer, though, which helped us to pack light on our trip.

In short, I cannot recommend this flat more highly. It was exactly the kind of Paris charm that we were seeking, and we would stay there again in a heartbeat. We hope to return to Paris soon and visit our new home away from home!

As close to perfect as one could reasonably expect

Left on 03/30/2011 for a stay in March 2011

This apartment is terrific and the owners are as well. The entire rental process was handled very well - the owners are professional, businesslike, and reliable, and there was not one glitch in the entire process. The apartment is in excellent condition and has new fancy appliances -- even a washer/dryer. The building is old and charming. I really appreciated that, unlike many other apartments I have rented, this one is fully stocked with basic supplies (like detergent, but also things like teabags, which I really appreciated.)

For guests who are noise-sensitive, I will mention that there is some road noise from the highway along the Seine, but the windows are fairly soundproof and I was not bothered by the noise level. The location, of course, is outstanding. Also be aware that this is a third floor walkup.

      Thank you Federico and Iwona!

I really enjoyed my visit to Paris over the Christmas holiday and the apartment just added to the experience. Although was not my first visit to Paris, it was my first time renting an apartment and it will not be my last.

The apartment is located on a busy street where a walkway takes you to a series of restaurants. I loved it.

Federico was wonderful, as the apartment has a telephone that offers free telephone service back to the States. I found this very convenient so I could stay in touch with my family.

I am looking forward to my next visit.

      Perfect!

Left on 02/06/2011 for a stay in September 2010

My husband and I spent a delightful week in Paris staying at Federico and Iwona's apartment on Quai St Michel. After travelling all day from Germany by car, train and metro we were so relieved to be met by Iwona at the apartment. Despite the lateness of the day, she was friendly and helpful in showing us around the apartment and telling us all we needed to know regarding the working of the appliances etc. She and Federico had even left us with 2 complimentary welcoming bottles of wine and some beer which was a lovely touch for us weary travellers!
The apartment is only a short walk from the metro and very convenient to a multitude of lovely restaurants. most of which we sampled during our stay. The view is magnificent! After a couple of days we actually started to take the sight of the Notre Dame and the Seine for granted! We did need to close the windows at night to keep out the noise of the street below.
The apartment was impeccably clean and very well appointed with everything supplied that we needed. Apart from a few problems with the working of the washing machine/dryer due to our insufficient knowledge of French, everything worked perfectly. (Perhaps an English translation of the instructions would be good, Federico.) After 6 weeks in Europe, Federico's sofa bed was the most comfortable bed we slept in! So easy to pull out and put away too!
A big bonus that we really appreciated was the free phone calls home and the tourist information available in the apartment.
My only negative comment would be the 58 steps up to the apartment, but if I was younger or fitter that would not have been a problem, and we were aware of that before we booked. The price one pays for a brilliant view!
Iwona was very helpful in assisting us to arrange our early morning transfer by taxi to the airport - this was really appreciated!
Thank you Federio and Iwona for making our week in Paris perfect!

Perfect for a Romantic Escape in Paris

Left on 10/13/2010 for a stay in October 2010

"My husband and I just returned from a 4 night stay in Paris and stayed at this apartment. It was in such a wonderful spot with a real 'Parisian' view of the Seine and Notre Dame Cathedral. It was centrally located to a lot of the sights of Paris. Walking distance to Notre Dame, Ile Saint Louis and Sainte Chapelle. It was also very easy to get to from the airport with the direct RER B line and only a few short steps from the station to the apartment.

Our two concerns before renting this flat was that it was on a busy street and there might be too much noise and the fact there was no bed but a pull out couch. Neither of these were an issue as the windows were excellent in keeping out the noise in the evenings and the pull out couch was extremely comfortable to sleep on. No issues at all!

The apartment was extremely clean, well laid out and very organized. It was actually bigger than we thought it would be (as sometimes photos can make places look bigger than they are). It is just perfect for 2 people.

The photos and descriptions were all accurate as were all the amenities. The washer and dryer were a godsend after 6 days traveling with a small wardrobe!

Federico and Iwona were extremely professional, helpful and organized before, during and after our stay. Iwona explained how to use all the appliances and amenities in the apartment before leaving us the keys.

I would highly recommend this property to a friend or relative if they are traveling to Paris and looking for a place to stay other than a hotel.

We were very happy with our selection of this property to use as a base from which to visit Paris. Although compact it contained all the facilities we needed to be comfortable and self-sufficient when desired. We found it to be well-priced (we had been to Paris twice before) with a great view over the Seine and a great location from which to walk to the city's attractions or to catch a train (metro and RER) or taxi from the very close station and rank. Being able to catch the train from the airport (CDG) directly to the property was a bonus. The owners (who thankfully speak English) were a great help when settling us in and on departure. The premises were very clean and secure, and thanks to double glazing street noise was not a problem despite the central location.

This was our first time to Europe, so we were a bit nervous about the trip not to mention our stay at an apartment we found through the internet. It was so nice discover that upon our arrival, not only is Paris a beautiful city, but this apartment was lovely and looked exactly as it was shown online. We loved it! It was the perfect size for two, so convenient to everything in Paris from transportation to just strolling around the city. We were greeted by Iwona who welcomed us and showed us around the flat and how to use the appliances. We had a detailed binder to help us further with any other questions concerning the flat, the area around us and a phone number to contact Federico should we need anything else. It made our stay of eleven days perfect (seriously, who wouldn't like waking up every morning and look out at the Seine?) and Federico and Iwona couldn't have been nicer. We look forward to returning someday and would highly recommend staying here.

Excellent location in the heart of Paris with a number of great restaurants within a few minutes walk..Very comfortable accomodation with a nice little kitchen to use when you take home those open market purchases..Enjoy your cheese and chilled wine as you look out over the Siene River at the lights of the passing boats...Good bed, CNN on the flat screen, free international calls to many countries and free Wifi are all a bonus.. Federicco and Iwona will check you into a spotless apartment and offer any assistance. A very memorable stay.. We will be back!
