Saint Michel is in the Latin Quarter, an area in the 5th and parts of the 6th district of Paris, on the Left Bank of the Seine river, nearby the Sorbonne University.
Known for its lively atmosphere and bistros, the Latin Quarter is home to several higher education establishments besides the university itself, such as the Ecole Normale Superieure, the Ecole des Mines de Paris, the Schola Cantorum, and the Jussieu University Campus.
The area gets its name from the Latin language which, as the international language of learning in the Middle Ages, was once widely spoken in and around... the University.
Today the Left Bank is considered as the city's most romantic and fashionable district mixing day and night life.
If you take a stroll you can easily find tons of restaurants, bars, pubs, cinemas, music and festivities in the area directly behind the building. Or you can go shopping on the Boulevards Saint Michel & Saint Germain. Or simply visit the booksellers on the banks.
You are in very town center and all the famous spots are amazingly close : the Seine river, the Latin Quarter, Saint Germain des Pres, the Saint Louis island, the Marais, the Notre Dame Cathedral, the Sainte Chapelle, the Luxembourg gardens, the Jardin des Plantes, the Louvre Museum, the Orsay Museum, and so much more...
The flat is very easy to reach:
- By RER B if you arrive by airplane (Charles de Gaulle or Orly airports)
- By Metro Line 4 if you arrive by train (Gare du Nord or Gare de Lyon)
- A Taxi station is just in front of the building
The location of the flat is FANTASTIC, overlooking the Seine river and opposite to the Notre Dame Cathedral.
The flat benefits of a BREATHTAKING VIEW: open the three sets of windows (all DOUBLE GLAZED and high quality sound proofing, which will assure you an excellent night sleep) and just marvel at the views of the Seine going by, and the awesome views of the majestic Notre Dame Cathedral on the next corner. Seriously, this could be the best view in Paris and will continuously take your breath away, both day and night. No wonder why, since 1991, the banks of the Seine river belong to the UNESCO's list of World Heritage Sites.
This apartment definitely has the "Wow" factor, you will never forget your trip to Paris for this view alone. With a glass of wine and good company you won't need to be anywhere else to experience the most romantic and beautiful city in the world.
We put a lot of effort to offer an elegant decoration and a lot of storage space and we believe we succeeded in creating a fantastic love nest for honeymooners.
The flat is equipped with a high quality convertible sofa, providing an excellent sleep thanks to its 200x140x14cm anti allergic foam matress.
You'll also find a 46 inches ultra flat screen TV which will blow you away, offering a truly unique viewing experience as well as a multimedia access to your laptop.
Once the booking will be confirmed you'll receive a 40-page instruction booklet to let you familiarize with the apartment, its equipment and the neighborhood. At your arrival we will personally check you in and we'll spend about 20/30 minutes with you to explain how all the appliances operate and to answer to any questions you might have. We'll also be available during your stay, should you encounter any difficulties. A bottle of french wine will be offered too.
Henry Matisse (31/12/1869 - 03/11/1954) and Albert Marquet (27/03/1875 - 14/06/1947) two of the best known french artists of the 20th century and leading figures in modern art, both lived in the nearby building (19, Quai Saint Michel) and painted several views they could see from their studio window, the very same view you'll enjoy during your stay!

This apartment gave us a fantastic base for our 5 night stay in Paris. It is extremely well kept with great facilities for travelers. The sofa bed is very comfy, hot water is plentiful and the combined washer-dryer is very handy indeed.
The beautiful and well equipped kitchen was only used to open a few bottles of red wine as the apartment is in the midst of many excellent French restaurants. Le Petit Chatelet is very close and we particularly enjoyed their Creme Brulee but everything there was delicious.
The view from the apartment is lovely, especially at night. Though busy outside, once inside its very quiet due to the triple glazing.
Federico (owner) was great to deal with - very prompt and well organised. He supplies you with instructions for everything in the apartment and recommendations for the area.
The apartment (like most Parisian apartments) is very small. It has has a fair number of steps because it has a splendid view. The steps themselves are ancient and quite beautiful.
The metro is very, very handy and easy to use but the St Michel and Notre Dame areas are great to just wander about it.

This was a great alternative to the hustle and bustle of staying in one of the local hotels and was priced competitively. We stayed 4 days in this apartment that had mostly everything we needed. The location to all attractions is spot on and just behind it is a great selection of restaurants, shops and nightclubs. Access to the train system is literally just outside your door to the left and there is an elevator to the train just outside to the right when hauling luggage.
The bed was very comfortable but if you like a top sheet between you and the comforter bring one with you. They only provide a bottom fitted sheet. There were plenty of towels and the kitchen had most all amenities needed. The “sit bath” tub is not real user friendly and you must plug the drain when not in use or you will have to deal with the smell of the sewer wafting back up thru the pipes. The hot water heater is small so baths are short and there is no shower curtain, so I call this a short “sit shower” (hand held option). The toilet is quite noisy upon flushing (special grinding apparatus) so closing the door is necessary and even then not quiet for your partner sleeping just outside the door. The washer/dryer is 1 unit that does both and is not easy to figure out even with Elsie’s explanation of how it works. It was noisy, slow and left my whites greyish throughout the load.
There is no lift up to this 3rd floor apartment so travel light & be of good health.
The view is incredible. From the window Notre Dame is to the right and the Seine is directly across the street in front of you.
There is a bit more street noise than what other reviews led me to believe but not a deal stopper.
Federico was easy to work with and Elsie (the one who greeted us at the entrance and gave us the keys and some orientation) was a wealth of information. Elsie was there at the time promised and both were available by phone if needed.
Payment was simple, but you will be responsible for PayPal fees so figure them into your costs.
I own and run a Motel, Bed and Breakfast in Northern California so I know how important reviews are. I would and do recommend this apartment.

I am so late in this review as we went at the end of January. My partner and I stayed here for 10 days celebrating our 10 year anniversary. Every second was perfect. I am not sure where to start. The apartment is in the absolute perfect location. When you get off the train from CDG, you can seriously take an elevator to street level and basically be steps from the entrance to the building. A taxi stand is directly outside the front door of the building. So many cafe's, shops and markets just steps away. The first day we arrived we wanted to get familiar with the neighborhood, the Latin Quarter. Wow!!! Simply amazing. Every single type of food you can imagine is here. We went to the market and bought our staple, wine, cheese, milk, produce, etc. By the 2nd day, we truly felt so comfortable with our neighborhood, we felt like Parisians. We could walk along the Seine, or check out the Marais. The Louvre, Champs de Elysee, incredible shopping, and cafes were either within walking distance or a stop away on the Metro. Every morning we would walk half a block and have breakfast at Le Depart Saint-Michel Cafe, where everyone was so amazing. They helped us with our french and had "our" table at the window ready every morning with Mimosas waiting.
Now for the apartment itself...ahhh. We started missing it when we boarded the plane to go home. The blue door welcomed us each time we arrived "home." The building is situated discreetly between shops on a main street on the Seine. You do have to walk up several flights of stairs, but it is worth it.All modern amenities.Beautifully decorated.Modern.The bed is a sofa pull-out,but you would never know when sleeping.Open the 3 double door windows and the Seine and Notre Dame are right there.Breathtaking.not exaggerating,we felt like we were Parisians, this was our home.
Federico is so awesome to deal with from beginning to end.Seriously he is awesome! Will def stay here again and recommend to anyone!!!

I was warmly greeted at the apartment. I was very pleased with what I saw. The apartment is well maintained, very clean and impressed with the cooktop, refrigerator, utensils, etc. And how nice to have a washing machine. I knew at once that I had made the right choice.
The apartment is perfectly situation and one could walk to museums, places to see and oh, that view. Just imagine looking out the window and seeing Notre Dame, the Seine and, knowing that Matisse's studio was just a couple of doors from the apartment.
I was staying in the apartment alone and felt very safe. A friend was staying a 15 minute walk away from the apartment and there were many nights I walked home alone, at midnight and I was comfortable doing so.
For me, the apartment was perfect as I am sure it would be for anyone else lucky enough to rent it.

We stayed at Federico's apartment for 4 nights in October - it was perfect. The location was great (right in the latin quarter and steps from the metro) and the apartment was just as advertised (and the view was awesome). It was a wonderful place to call "home" and we will certainly be back. Like others, my hesitation was the pull out couch, however; the couch was extremely comfortable. We will absolutely return to this apartment next time we're in Paris.

My wife and I first stayed in this apartment in 2012. We had booked it sight unseen from australia. Just relied on the reviews. We were not disappointed. In fact we loved the apartment so much we had to return this year. When we walked through the door, we felt we had returned home. Highly recommended.

Took the RER B in from CDG and got off at the St. Michel Notre-Dame stop. Look for the Exit marked Rue Xavier Privas, it's an elevator exit that takes you and more importantly your luggage to street level and to one building next to the apartment. It was a beautiful vibrant Paris that greeted us. The studio apt is fully equipped, has oversized windows and has a local feel to it. The apt space was just right for our two week stay. The location is unbeatable as you can walk to the Louvre, Pantheon, Musee Cluny, Musee D'Orsay, Hotel De Ville, Notre-Dame, Blvd St Germain, Ile de la Cite, Ile St Louis, Luxembourg Gardens, etc. The list is endless. The metro, RER trains, Open top tour buses and the Seine River cruise boats are right outside your door. If you are looking for something other than a hotel room then this is it. It is very functional and located in the heart of everything. We will definitely be back.

Location in the Latin quarter was great. Wonderful, rare view...we were concerned about noise as it is on a busy street, but once you close the windows, noise was no longer an issue. Very well appointed flat with the benefit of a washer.. (Needed it...30 degrees +) We have never had a pull out bed that was this comfortable. The only drawback...50 steps up with no elevator. Only a problem on check in date and check out date with heavy luggage.
An absolute delight.

What a perfect choice. The location is fantastic, the Latin quarter is on your doorstep and is charming and lively. The view will take your breath away. The apartment is spotless, the bed is really comfortble, the apartment is bigger than the photos suggest, everything you need and more. Nice touches like a bottle of wine, hair dryer, laundry detergent. We chose our dates to fit with the apartments availability and were so glad we did. Within 5 minutes walk is the bakery, butcher, and street market. We bought fresh produce every day. We were so sad to leave. Stay here, you will not be disappointed. The view will stay with you forever.

The apartment has an advantage from the very beginning if you arrive by the Rer---an elevator takes you up to street level a few doors from the bldg., so the only stairs you climb are to the apt. Once there you will find an immaculate, large space with modern furnishings, a very comfortable bed, and a deep "hip bath" to relax in after a day on the town. The location is great.

We love this place so much I think we'll try to get back here at least once a year... This being our third time it really felt like home.. Such a nice place, especially if you've had to stay a night or two in one of the local hotels where you will pay more for much less.. It's so nice to sit at the window with a bottle of chilled wine straight from the fridge and watch the world go by.. and to hit the open markets and be able to cook some of the great produce on offer.. Perfect location, perfect vibe 100% comfort and very affable owners!

Great apartment in Paris.
Federico made the process very easy. He patiently answered questions about the apartment and confirmed dates for us, organizing the paperwork and payments through PayPal. Check-in process, and and early checkout was no problem.
Spectacular view, of the Seine River and Notre-Dame out the apartment widows, walking passed such historic sites each day and night made the trip that much more memorable.
Latin Quarter is a very popular location and lively at times, it's part of the Paris charm so enjoy it. The apartment is within walking distance to many major sites, Notre-Dame and the Seine River of course, Concierge, Sainte Chapelle, Louvre Museum, The Centre Pompidou, Pantheon, Luxembourg Gardens, St-Germain area, Marais area, Île Saint-Louis, etc. The location is really beneficial if you want to visit the Notre-Dame towers right across the street, the earlier you can get there, the better your spot in line.
We stayed in September, the apartment is a third floor walkup through a charming entrance and staircase. There are many large windows, that you can open for ventilation, either in the front overlooking the great view, or at the back of the apartment if you prefer to close the front windows for more quite. Overall the apartment is very spacious for two people, has a bedroom area and equally large dining area, lots of space in to unpack your clothes. The kitchen is well equipped, and very functional. We were provided more than enough towels. The free telephone and Wi-Fi is great if you have your own laptop or smartphone to keep in touch or for research while you are there.
Tips: Purchase Paris Museum Pass when you arrive, and Eiffel Tower Tickets as soon as possible on-line before you go.

For value, location and the thrill, it is hard to beat. It is as the website shows - quality fittings and well designed. Yes the winding stairs could be a challenge for the less mobile but we loved being above the affray. The double glazing deals with the street noise most effectively. My biggest concern being tall and with a bad back was the sofa bed but it was fine. The space worked really well and the arrangements -pre and after - all went smoothly.

We really enjoyed our stay in the studio apartment along Quai St Michel. Although a few stairs to climb the view from the apartment along the Seine R. and Notre Dame was very nice and it was close to many sightseeing spots and restaurants. The apartment although not hugely spacious was well appointed with all the amenities and the complimentary bottle of red wine was very nice as well. Federico was a pleasure to deal with. The best part too was that it was close to the RER/Metro train stations which had direct links to Cdg2 airport - no train changes.

We spent eleven nights in this delightful flat and enjoyed every minute. It personifies the romance and excitement of Paris. Breathtaking views of the Seine in both directions, the jewel being the view of Notre Dame cathedral.
The flat is impeccably clean and well appointed, all of the necessities are are provided as are a number of amenities not usually provided in Paris rentals. The dishwasher especially made the stay more about vacation and less about housekeeping. The bed was very comfortable despite the fact that it's a fold-out. By far the most comfortable fold-out we've ever slept on.
Our only minor suggestion would be to provide a small step stool to get into the hip bath shower, my wife is not terribly tall and was concerned about slipping on the floor getting out.
Federico and Iwona were the soul of hospitality, making us feel right at home. Always available if help was needed or we had questions.
We can't recommend this flat enough!

We always looked forward to coming home and enjoying the wonderful view from our window. The apartment itself was very nice and clean with all one needed for a great holiday. We were very sorry to leave. The well equipped kitchen and the washing facilities were ideal. And don't be put off by the sofa bed - even my 5' tall wife could open and close it and my 6'4" was very comfortable in it. Plenty of food stores and reataurants nearby and the Metro round the corner. All in all, a great apartment from which to enjoy what Paris has to offer. But those views - fabulous!

I just returned from a 7 day stay in this apartment, and it was the perfect place from which to explore Paris with my daughter. The apartment is centrally located in a very interesting neighborhood, and is ideal for walking to many major sights and great restaurants. If your destination is a little farther than you care to walk, the Metro stop is very close by. The location also felt very safe, and we had no concerns about coming and going at night. As the photos show, the flat itself is tastefully appointed and has everything you need for a comfortable stay, but is not cluttered with extras. We used the fully stocked kitchen to prepare fresh foods from nearby markets so we didn't have to eat every meal in restaurants. Finally, the owners were very helpful and responsive. I highly recommend this apartment!
Lovely studio in the heart of it all

My older daughter and I passed five nights at this apartment. We were given a warm welcome by the owner who located and thoroughly explained all the amenities for us (in French, but English was offered as well).
The studio is precisely as it appears in the photographs, very efficiently laid out leaving plenty of elbow room, and was sparkling clean. It was very well equipped for two people, and we had no trouble preparing breakfast and dinner each day. The three large windows made it quite light, even during our rainy stay. The view is actually across to the police prefecture, but you can easily see both up and down the river if you lean out of the windows. Both the building and apartment were very secure as well as generally very quiet. For some reason the French allow their doors to slam, probably to be sure they are secure, but after 25 years it still startles me.
A few things to be aware: this is a third floor walk-up via circular staircases. The 3-4 lane Quais along the Seine are very busy night and day. We are city dwellers and the street noise and light did not bother us, but I wondered if I would mind the same during the warmer months when I would want to open the windows. The late-night noise from the bistro below was quite noticeable on the weekend, even through the heavy windows, but all quieted, of course, upon closing. And it's Paris -- we should have been out ourselves anyway! One glance at the map will tell you that you are in the heart of things. The elevator down to the RER is literally next door, tho the ticketing machines were not working the day we left, and we had to drag all our bags down six flights of stairs across the street after all. C'est la vie.
Federico was an excellent correspondent while we were making arrangements for our visit. Paperwork and payments were easily handled through e-mail and PayPal. I would recommend this comfortable apartment for either short or longer stays.

My husband and I stayed in this flat during our visit to Paris from May 20-27, 2011, and it could not have been more perfect. The location is ideal--right in the heart of the city with an RER/Metro stop just a block away (so it's quite easy to get everywhere!), and the Latin Quarter/St. Germain neighborhoods are easily walkable. The flat itself is very well-designed and beautifully decorated, and the views from the window really are stunning. It was just the right size for two people, and it felt very elegant and modern. We loved coming home to it after a long day of exploring the city. As others have noted, the sofa bed is extremely comfortable (I, too, was skeptical!), and the kitchen is well-appointed with everything you could need. Federico was a pleasure to work with, and took great care to provide very thorough instructions before we left, so everything was very smooth with check-in and check-out.
We did find the noise from the street below to be a bit loud (especially on the weekend), so it's best to sleep with the windows closed (and very light sleepers might want to bring ear plugs). The only other minor issue we encountered was trying to only dry our clothes in the washer/dryer (without washing and then drying), which led to quite a perplexing evening as we kept inadvertently filling up the washer with water! Perhaps a translated instruction manual might be a good addition. It was wonderful to have the washer, though, which helped us to pack light on our trip.
In short, I cannot recommend this flat more highly. It was exactly the kind of Paris charm that we were seeking, and we would stay there again in a heartbeat. We hope to return to Paris soon and visit our new home away from home!

I really enjoyed my visit to Paris over the Christmas holiday and the apartment just added to the experience. Although was not my first visit to Paris, it was my first time renting an apartment and it will not be my last.
The apartment is located on a busy street where a walkway takes you to a series of restaurants. I loved it.
Federico was wonderful, as the apartment has a telephone that offers free telephone service back to the States. I found this very convenient so I could stay in touch with my family.
I am looking forward to my next visit.

My husband and I spent a delightful week in Paris staying at Federico and Iwona's apartment on Quai St Michel. After travelling all day from Germany by car, train and metro we were so relieved to be met by Iwona at the apartment. Despite the lateness of the day, she was friendly and helpful in showing us around the apartment and telling us all we needed to know regarding the working of the appliances etc. She and Federico had even left us with 2 complimentary welcoming bottles of wine and some beer which was a lovely touch for us weary travellers!
The apartment is only a short walk from the metro and very convenient to a multitude of lovely restaurants. most of which we sampled during our stay. The view is magnificent! After a couple of days we actually started to take the sight of the Notre Dame and the Seine for granted! We did need to close the windows at night to keep out the noise of the street below.
The apartment was impeccably clean and very well appointed with everything supplied that we needed. Apart from a few problems with the working of the washing machine/dryer due to our insufficient knowledge of French, everything worked perfectly. (Perhaps an English translation of the instructions would be good, Federico.) After 6 weeks in Europe, Federico's sofa bed was the most comfortable bed we slept in! So easy to pull out and put away too!
A big bonus that we really appreciated was the free phone calls home and the tourist information available in the apartment.
My only negative comment would be the 58 steps up to the apartment, but if I was younger or fitter that would not have been a problem, and we were aware of that before we booked. The price one pays for a brilliant view!
Iwona was very helpful in assisting us to arrange our early morning transfer by taxi to the airport - this was really appreciated!
Thank you Federio and Iwona for making our week in Paris perfect!

"My husband and I just returned from a 4 night stay in Paris and stayed at this apartment. It was in such a wonderful spot with a real 'Parisian' view of the Seine and Notre Dame Cathedral. It was centrally located to a lot of the sights of Paris. Walking distance to Notre Dame, Ile Saint Louis and Sainte Chapelle. It was also very easy to get to from the airport with the direct RER B line and only a few short steps from the station to the apartment.
Our two concerns before renting this flat was that it was on a busy street and there might be too much noise and the fact there was no bed but a pull out couch. Neither of these were an issue as the windows were excellent in keeping out the noise in the evenings and the pull out couch was extremely comfortable to sleep on. No issues at all!
The apartment was extremely clean, well laid out and very organized. It was actually bigger than we thought it would be (as sometimes photos can make places look bigger than they are). It is just perfect for 2 people.
The photos and descriptions were all accurate as were all the amenities. The washer and dryer were a godsend after 6 days traveling with a small wardrobe!
Federico and Iwona were extremely professional, helpful and organized before, during and after our stay. Iwona explained how to use all the appliances and amenities in the apartment before leaving us the keys.
I would highly recommend this property to a friend or relative if they are traveling to Paris and looking for a place to stay other than a hotel.

We were very happy with our selection of this property to use as a base from which to visit Paris. Although compact it contained all the facilities we needed to be comfortable and self-sufficient when desired. We found it to be well-priced (we had been to Paris twice before) with a great view over the Seine and a great location from which to walk to the city's attractions or to catch a train (metro and RER) or taxi from the very close station and rank. Being able to catch the train from the airport (CDG) directly to the property was a bonus. The owners (who thankfully speak English) were a great help when settling us in and on departure. The premises were very clean and secure, and thanks to double glazing street noise was not a problem despite the central location.

This was our first time to Europe, so we were a bit nervous about the trip not to mention our stay at an apartment we found through the internet. It was so nice discover that upon our arrival, not only is Paris a beautiful city, but this apartment was lovely and looked exactly as it was shown online. We loved it! It was the perfect size for two, so convenient to everything in Paris from transportation to just strolling around the city. We were greeted by Iwona who welcomed us and showed us around the flat and how to use the appliances. We had a detailed binder to help us further with any other questions concerning the flat, the area around us and a phone number to contact Federico should we need anything else. It made our stay of eleven days perfect (seriously, who wouldn't like waking up every morning and look out at the Seine?) and Federico and Iwona couldn't have been nicer. We look forward to returning someday and would highly recommend staying here.

Excellent location in the heart of Paris with a number of great restaurants within a few minutes walk..Very comfortable accomodation with a nice little kitchen to use when you take home those open market purchases..Enjoy your cheese and chilled wine as you look out over the Siene River at the lights of the passing boats...Good bed, CNN on the flat screen, free international calls to many countries and free Wifi are all a bonus.. Federicco and Iwona will check you into a spotless apartment and offer any assistance. A very memorable stay.. We will be back!
