JacksonvilleThis apartment enhances my Paris experience
Left on 05/02/2013 for a stay in April 2013
I have vacationed in Paris for over 15 years and stay in this apartment when it is available. The few times I have stayed elsewhere they have not lived up to the level of Virginia's apartment. She gives personalized service and makes you feel at home and able to appreciate living like a Parisien. Coming back to the apartment after a day of exploring Paris and sitting at the table and eating my meal while looking across the rooftops at the Eiffel Tower just completes the day. The sunsets are amazing. I enjoy the neighborhood and all that it offers. Wine shops, patisseries, shopping, grocery stores and metro steps away make this such a convenient location. Virginia also gives wonderful walking tours and shows you out of the way treasures of Paris. This apartment is clean and cozy and you feel right at home which makes the departure that much harder. I'm always looking forward to the next stay in this wonderful city and delightful apartment.

I lost trace of the number of times you've stayed with us during all these years. If you let a review each time you stayed with us, we would beat all the records. Seeing your smily face when you get here is part of the reward one receives when doing what I do. Having had the opportunity to compare, you are also for us an indication that we are doing a good job.
Thank you for everything. Looking forward for the next .....s.....Virignia -

Cleveland, OHA Magical and Magnificent Stay
Left on 04/30/2013 for a stay in March 2013
It is hard to beginning describing such a wonderful stay so I will sum up as best with this: we would not hesitate to stay here again in the least. The apartment is wonderful, the location is wonderful, the atmosphere is wonderful and Virginia is wonderful. We felt at home the moment we entered the building and were extremely saddened when it was time to leave.
For the apartment, it is wonderfully cozy. Small enough not to feel overwhelmed but big enough to feel like you have enough space. We spent many a night having dinner at our "home", enjoying the Eiffel Tower.
For the location, if you truly want to know what it feels like to actually live in Paris (not just visit, but live), this is it. A truly remarkable neighborhood fairly devoid of tourists. However, you are a short walk, bus, metro away from the tourist attractions. Truly the best of both worlds.
For Virginia, she truly made us feel welcome and helped us acclimate to the area. She showed us many hidden gems (shopping, markets, bistros) we would have easily overlooked if not for her guidance. She would check on us to see how we were and give us more hints and tips. She was a gem to us!
Again, I cannot overstate the great time we had here. We look forward to returning to our home in the future.Response from Virginia Dae - 05/02/2013

Thank you for this warm hearted review and for the one which you left in our personal "Visitors' Book" which I shall read again and again when
I'll be too old and tired to continue to be a "mama bear" for our customers.
Thank you for having been such wonderful, independent guests, receiving with gratitude what my time and energy allowed me to offer.
I am looking forward to welcoming you again and see what a wonderful

Denton, Texas. U.S.A.A Magical apartment in the Perfect Location.
Left on 03/20/2013 for a stay in March 2013
My husband & I have just returned from our magical anniversary trip to Paris. The apartment was the perfect retreat after a long day of hiking through the fascinating streets of the city. The location is full of cafés & specialty shops. We enjoyed shopping at a gourmet frozen food market called "Picard" and then stopping to buy a bottle of wine, a block of cheese, a baquette, & some fruit.Every shop was close to the apartment & provided us with inexpensive, quick-to-prepare meals. It was especially fun to market side-by-side with the Parisians who live in the area.
The apartment is well-equipped & extremely comfortable. It has an amazing amount of room.I am an early riser,so it was wonderful to sit in the lovely living room, sipping on my morning cup of coffee while gazing out the window as "our" neighborhood slowly roused from sleep. Having the extra room allowed my husband to stay sleeping in the bedroom down the hall without being disturbed.
The extra-special secret to the success of the apartment is Virginia Dae.She greets you at the door & welcomes you with her effervescent personality, all packed into a petite, oh-so-Parisian frame. We appreciated all of the comforts of home that she included in the apartment. Her tour of the neighborhood was priceless. One thing that we did not have a chance to take advantage of was her local walking tours. When we return, we definitely plan to absorb her extensive knowledge of the city via one of her tours.
One bit of advice:If it is your first visit to the apartment, take a taxi from the airport.Have the address & Virginia's # written down or stored in your phone. We are very comfortable with mass transit, but we still had a difficult time finding the apartment on our own.Fortunately,we only had backpacks with us.I can't imagine what it would be like to drag a rolling suitcase through the RER,Metro,or on & off the Roissy bus.Just take a taxi so that you can be there as quickly as possible to enjoy every minute in the city!

Better later than never...I answer your wonderful review.
Thank you for having already chosen our apart last year (when you couldn't come) for having kept it in your mind all this time, thank you for having made yourselves present with flowers one day before your arrival and after. The rose plant which filled the "empty space" behind you is
keeping me company and stay beautiful and fresh....unusual for fragile roses. They must have taken some of your vitality and generosity.
Paris, the Eiffel tower, the neighbourhood and Virginia look forward to

Ann Arbor, MichiganAnother wonderful visit to my neighborhood in Paris
Left on 03/08/2013 for a stay in February 2013
First, I must admit to a certain bias in this review of the Insight Paris apartment. I have visited three times and have come to know Virginia, who manages the apartment, and to know Virginia is to love her. The apartment has its charms too. Just cross the street to the Place Leon Blum and catch my favorite bus (#69) and ride it to, or through the Louvre and on to the Champ de Mars. Or, with even fewer steps, go around the corner and take the Metro #9 to the Trocadero, when you pop up out of the ground and walk around
to the plaza, a sweeping view of the Eiffel Tower suddenly appears. The best boulangerie in the neighborhood is also just across the street, and fresh fruit, cheese and wine are all right there. The apartment is charming with its view of the Eiffel Tower, wonderfully
cosy, and so conveniently located. Best of all, Virginia is there for help, suggestions, and her insights on Paris.Response from Virginia Dae - 03/11/2013

It has been such a pleasure to receive you and Kay for the third time.
Meeting you downstairs when you arrived, seeing your smiling faces, crossing each others' path in and out the bulding, sharing "stories"of
our respective lives since we've last met are the life rewards for my managing this apart. Looking forward to receiving you again and again when time is right. Virginia -

SydneyVery comfortable and central
Left on 02/19/2013 for a stay in December 2012
This is a great place to stay. It's like a home away from home and is very "French"! Nice and central to the metro and easy access to shops, Atms, etc.
Virginia, who looks after the apartment, is warm and friendly and more than helpful with local places, translating and assisting in any way possible. She will take you on a tour when you get there and show you the best way around. The service from her is great and a major reason to stay at the apartment.
It's roomy, comfortable and has everything, except a washing machine (laundromat very close by)
Best thing was being able to have a "home base" and lives like the locals. You may even get a visit from Figaro, the resident cat!
Don't forget to let Virginia know if there is anything you need when staying there. She is more than happy to oblige.Response from Virginia Dae - 02/20/2013

Thank you Trish for this clear review and for having mentioned that it is preferable to mention ones' needs and suggestions while here rather then.....when gone. Paris and myself ....appreciate.

Bendigo VictoriaA most relaxing stay in an excellent location
Left on 01/30/2013 for a stay in December 2012
Very highly recommended for anyone who wants to avoid an expensive and boring hotel room in Paris
First up, have to say that what makes this such a relaxing place to stay is the care and attention that Virginia gave to us, especially our 15 year old daughter. Her walking tour seems expensive at 150 euro/person until you have done it with her and realise that you have visited parts of Paris that most tourists will never see.
The apartment as others have noted is more like staying in a friend's place. It is comfortably furnished, the kitchen is fine for basic needs and of course offers the view of the Eiffel tower as you are sitting at the table. Hard to beat really. Plenty of the useful things like towels etc and Virginia is always there if you need anything else. The lift is cosy though, but the stairs are good exercise.
The location was also very enjoyable. The little patisserie next to the entrance for the apartments offers a great range of croissants and other delectables that our daughter enjoyed for breakfast. The bakery over the road has a great range of breads but not much English :) The metro is around the corner and the bus is less than 100m away.
Walk around the area, enjoy the local restaurants and go the market at the Bastille. Soak up the atmosphere rather than racing around every museum and tourist site but don't miss the opportunity to walk through the Pere-Lachaise cemetery which is just up the roadResponse from Virginia Dae - 02/05/2013

Bonjour J.T and thank you for this review. Thank you also for mentioning
my walking tours which show Paris so differently, more the way a knowledgeable, true passionate lover ...would..... The first customers who are "charmed" vy these tour are ....the Parisians.
As I am very careful with details allow me to clarify that the 150 euros was the rate for the 3 people in your party ( staying in the apart) and
not the rate per person. They vary according to the number of participants
and the length of the tour. Wishing you many other happy trips around our
little but dense Europe. virginia -

Hong KongA feel for life in Paris
Left on 12/18/2012 for a stay in November 2012
Visited Paris for work and took my wife, son and mother for a follow on holiday, elected to stay in an apartment to have a little more freedom with arrangements. Decided on this apartment after positive reviews on Tripadvisor, whilst it was a little tight for 4 we weren't disappointed with the apartment, the location or the assistance and welcome of Virginia.
Paris is pretty convenient anyway in terms of metro access, the apartment is nearby Voltaire metro so this was handy, as were the local shops and eateries.
Very handy to have a full working kitchen and all required facilities. Master bedroom is large by local standards and quite spacious, only criticism is that the bed is probably in need of an update.
The apartment is not all mod cons like many serviced apartments, it is more like staying in a friends place, so if you want big screen tv and cable channels then not for you, but what is provided is perfectly fine for those preferring to experience a little bit of life in Paris.
Virginia makes a great effort to ensure you are comfortable and settled in, she was a pleasure to deal with. I wouldn't hesitate to stay again.Response from Virginia Dae - 02/05/2013

Thank you for this review and for having mentioned also "the less".
As you might remember I always ask our customers what was less...
and what is to be improved. The TV set was changed and following your
"advice" so might be the bed. Curiously, nobody menitioned it before...
So, I advice you readers to help owners with "real, true, comments"
thank you. Virginia -

Toronto, ONAn apartment that really lets you *live* in Paris
Left on 09/10/2012 for a stay in August 2012
I have stayed in this apartment twice now, and will return again.
It's located within walking distance of the Bastille, the Père Lachaise, the Marais, the Seine, and even Notre Dame and the Centre Georges Pompidou, but it is far enough away from the tourist track to let you experience what a real Parisian neighbourhood is like. There are many markets, butchers, and bakers nearby, in addition to the dozens of restaurants.
It is steps from the 9 Métro line and the 69 bus, and between the two, all of Paris is within reach.
The host is responsive, responsible, and accommodating. The apartment itself is large and airy, with fantastic views.Response from Virginia Dae - 09/11/2012

Lovely stay in an untouristy part of the city
Left on 08/20/2012 for a stay in July 2012
This flat is wonderfully situated just north of the Bastille, close to bustling, energetic restaurants and bars, and with easy access to buses and metro. Even though you're well away from the most well-traveled spots, everything you need is to hand (shops, banks, etc.) The flat is compact but owing to its imaginative layout, does not feel cramped, and certainly the grand view adds to its spacious feel. The diligence, friendliness, and efficiency of Virginia is a definite plus. She gave us two excellent recommendations for nearby restaurants, as well as all kinds of insights into the best local shops and amenities (e.g. steering us toward a fantastic farmer's market a few blocks away). She really cares about the flat, and wants guests to have a positive experience. I recommend this rental highly.

Cary, NCExcellent place for a family to stay in Paris
Left on 08/02/2012 for a stay in July 2012
My husband, daughter (10) and mother-in-law stayed here in July 2012. It was much more spacious than a hotel room (or even 2 rooms). The location is convenient (very close to the Voltaire metro stop and on the 69 bus route). There are nearby shops and restaurants. But it is out of the hectic tourist areas. Both the Bastille (with many restaurants and bars) and the world-famous Pere-Lachaise cemetery (a must-see) are an easy walk. For american families traveling with young children, there is a McDonald's on the next corner (if you must). The apartment building itself is very secure and the neighborhood seems quite safe. The apartment is comfortable, and easily sleeps 4. It has an amazing view of the Eiffel Tower from the living room and kitchen windows. There is no air conditioning, but we were there during a very warm period in July and it was no problem. The windows open wide to allow fresh breezes, and there are fans. The kitchen is fully equipped, with a full size refrigerator. We ate our meals out, but the kitchen would allow you to shop in nearby markets and cook your own meals. The unit is on the 7th floor, and there are 2 well functioning lifts. The unit has a landline phone with answering machine, and the all-important wifi. The only shortcoming of the apartment is: a small shower with fluctuating water temperature and non-luxurious towels. There is only a small tv, with antenna. But even avid tv watchers like ourselves had no need for a tv in Paris!
Virginia is a very lovely, knowledgeable and helpful "landlord". She lives in the building, and gave us a very informative tour of the immediate neighborhood upon our arrival. She was available for any questions or concerns we had.
If you are looking for a place to stay right in Paris and need something more than a cramped, impersonal hotel room, and want to experience Paris like a Parisian, this is an excellent choice.
Please note: the current map location shown on Tripadvisor is incorrect. The apartment is actually located near the Voltaire Metro station.Response from Virginia Dae - 08/19/2012

Thank you for this detailed, minutious review you share with me and readers who look for their place in Paris. I appreciate every word you wrote. I wish you and your family a succesful end of the year and many

Melbourne, AustraliaA home away from home
Left on 07/16/2012 for a stay in June 2012
The apartment was immaculate, fully equiped, had an unforgettable view of the Eiffel tower, and was in an excellent area of Paris. This is definitely the place to stay if you want to feel like a local, away from the other thousands of tourists, yet very close to excellent bus and metro services. The owner Virginia was a delightful host. The apartment is in a very quiet residential building so be mindful and respectful of this if travelling with young/noisy children. We travelled with our 5yo and 7yo and had an awesome time. We hope to return again soon. Jeff & Jo from Melbourne, Australia.

Home Sweet Home in Paris
Left on 07/10/2012 for a stay in June 2012
I stayed at the Eiffel Tower view apartment with my husband and daughter for 8 days in the month of June and we had a great time. The apartment was extremelly clean, very practical, wonderful location, great view of the Eiffel Tower and most of all Virginia's expertise on everything about Paris. Upon arrival she gave us a quick tour of the neighboorhood and told us some useful information about how to use the bus and metro system. She showed us the best bakeries, deli and food markets, all within steps from the apartment. Simply Market supermarket had very fresh produce and groceries and Virginia gave us a keychain card to use while we shopped. After we reach a certain amount of points Simply Market sends out a coupon which Virginia gives to the homeless people to get a meal. I think its a great way to help out and be a good citizen even while on vacation. The bus line 69 stops right by the apartment and it has stops at many major sights in Paris (Bastille, Birague where Place des Vosges is located, Louvre, Museum D'Orsay, Invalides, Eiffel Tower to name a few). And the Voltaire subway stop is also a few steps from the apartment. There are so many great things to be listed about the apartment that my review could keep going on and on, so I'll will point one more reason why I rated the Eiffel Tower View apartment 5 stars. The lovely manager Virginia and her hospitality. She is a private tour guide and knows everything about Paris. I can only imagine how wonderful must be a walking tour with her. I regret not going on one of them, specially in the Montmartre area. I was really looking forward to place du Tertre, wandering around and seeing the area where many artists used to live and the few windmills still left in Paris. I hope I can return to Paris in a near future, to stay in the same apartment and book one of her tours. Now I can understand why Virginia has so many returning customers, I'll probably be one of them.

SydneyThe best of everything!
Left on 06/04/2012 for a stay in May 2012
I am in complete agreement with the sentiments expressed in all 51 five star reviews. It is a lovely apartment in a great location, with views over the rooftops of Paris, and then, when the sun goes down, Le Tour Eiffel slowly illuminates and shimmers...a magical scene through the open lounge room window!
And then there is the wonderful Virginia, who takes this apartment to another level, what a treasure!
On my first night, familiarising me with the best boulangerie, charcuterie, fromagerie, the buses, she even introduced me at the information counter in the Metro,in case I might need help during my stay.
I really had no plan of attack for my week in Paris, so Virginia planned most of my days, what to see and the best way to get there, and as a result, I visited memorable places, I would otherwise not have seen...L'Orangerie,Sainte Chapelle and Musee de Cluny, just to name a few.
I also took her "Hemingway" walk and it was great. For more than three hours she brought the period and the characters to life with her stories, I felt as though I was there too.
Then there were the times when we just had a chat..Virginia's delightful story of her Tomy, how could I forget that!
Thank you, Virginia, for your friendship, and thank you for making my return visit to Paris, after 47 years, so rewarding.

We have stayed at the apartment for many times over the last 5 years - it has everything you require (we are a family of four) - with a sensational view of the Eiffel Tower - really makes you know you are in Paris. The apartment is in the Bastille area and there are 2 metro's within easy walking distance, coffee shops and bakeries just around the corner. You can open the window and smell the crusty bread baking each morning! The apartment is managed by the most wonderful person - Virginia - she is the reason we return for "our little bit of Paris". Virginia makes your stay effortless ensuring the apartment is perfect - complete with fresh flowers! Virginia is also available for walking tours which I highly recommend - This apartment is amazing!

You can find everything you need in the neighbourhood, and it's very easy to get to the major sights of Paris on the bus or metro.
The location shown on the map is a little misleading, however. While the apartment is only a few minutes on foot from the Bastille, it's further north than the shaded circle.

We loved our time at the apartment in Paris. We spent a great christmas and new years in the city. The view from the room is great, the loungeroom converts very easily into a second bedroom that can be closed off. It was great to be able to cook our own breakfasts and some meals when we didn't want to eat out. So close to the metro and getting around Paris. Virginia is a very warm and friendly host who loves a chat and to check that you're ok. So helpful and kind. She walked us around the neighbourhood to make sure we knew where everything was, from the cheese to the chicken shop. I would highly recommend this place.

A charming, authentic Paris apartment. Great location - not a tourist trap - close to shops and the Metro. The manager Virgina is just lovely. We stayed here with our two adult children so the living room (sofa bed and futon) became their bedroom at night which worked well. The kitchen is small and basic but we had no difficulty with that - just keep meals simple and take advantage of the fabulous foods so close to hand. Some traffic noise but not a real issue.

Virginia acclimated us to the area and was full of very helpful tips. The apartment location is central and easy walking distance to Bastille, Nation, Marais. The neighborhood is filled with top rated Boulangeries - Coffee shops and restaurants. In no time, we were flying all around Paris using the Metro.
The apt views are truly fantastic. A complete picture of Parisian life complete with the Eiffel Tower. Beautiful people bustling about - buying bread - shopping for groceries - walking dogs and pushing their adorable french babies about. At night, we had our windows open. The sky was vast and mesmerizing - really magical.
The decor is charming and cozy containing all the modern conveniences sprinkled with eclectic antiques and paintings.
I must mention the bed. We found it to be very comfortable and warm with nice pillows and lots of blankets. It was a blessing as a comfortable nights sleep is worth a million dollars.
We adored the apartment as well as Virginia and will try to return as often as possible. We're happy to have Virginia in our life now (what have we done without you all these years) and now we will always have Paris!

My Husband and I decided on a vacation rental for our second trip to Paris, France rather than staying at a hotel and we are so happy we did.
Virginia is a lovely hostess and made us feel really welcomed. The apartment is so quaint, clean and the view of the Eiffel Tower...Wow! Opening the window and watching the Eiffel tower sparkle every evening and waking up to the view was such a lovely treat. Even for a few days it was wonderful to feel how it is to really "live" in Paris, with local markets, bakeries, restaurants and of course the people. Thank you Virginia for your recommendations on Historic Paris. It was wonderful learning more about how beautiful Paris is. Thank you for the great conversations as well.
For anyone wanting to really experience Paris, try renting this cozy apartment, you will truly enjoy your stay. The only downfall was that we had to leave.
Viriginia, it isn't good-bye. It is see you again soon! Thank you!

USAA Most Memorable Celebration
Left on 11/30/2011 for a stay in October 2011
We visited Paris in October to celebrate a special birthday and also our 41st wedding anniversary. We stayed at the very lovely apartment for eight nights and had a marvelous time. This was our first time to rent an apartment during a holiday and it truly made us feel more like a real part of the city---even if only temporarily. It was great fun to shop at the nearby stores in the neighborhood which provided everything we needed during our stay and also delightful to visit the corner patisserie each morning to select our pastries and bread for the day.
Virgina was indeed helpful in planning our visit via e-mails and phone calls as she patiently answered the questions we had prior to booking. We felt as if we had made a new friend before we ever arrived in Paris. She met us as soon as we reached the lobby and thoroughly familiarized us with the apartment and the neighborhood. She guided us in purchasing our transportation pass so that we could begin exploring Paris immediately. Virginia was also glad to give advice on restaurants in the 11th arrondissement that were easily walkable and also volunteered most useful advice on all other parts of the city.
We will always treasure celebrating two very special occasions in Paris and our peaceful and relaxing time in the very charming apartment. Virginia, it was such a pleasure getting to know you and we wish you an abundance of blessings---now and always. Thank you for sharing your vast knowledge of Paris and her history with us. We hope that it will not take us eighteen years to return to this beautiful city. We are grateful for everything you did to make our stay such a memorable one. Our little Sofi sends you a warm bonjour. A la prochain...
Merci beaucoup,
W & C

292006Living like a Parisian
Left on 11/20/2011 for a stay in October 2011
We are a family of four: my husband (42), our children (8 and 9 years) and myself (44), and we stayed at this wonderful apartment from Oct. 19 to 31st, 2011.
We felt at home, even though the children needed 2-3 days to adjust to France timeline.
When we arrived to the apartment, Virginia was waiting for us; she gladly gave me a tour around the neighborhood, showing the best places to buy gourmet food, excellent wine and cheese, groceries (I suggest buying the croissants at the supermarket, as they are delicious and at half price) and of course, the wonderful "boulangeries" where you can buy baguettes, breads and pastry. Also, she adviced us about the transportation system (metro and buses) and the less expensive way to get to know Paris (18 Euros per week if you stay in Paris, and 30 Euros per week if you are going to EuroDisney).
Virginia also recommended the visit to EuroDisney and Versailles, and told us to go on our own. The children enjoyed very much EuroDisney (even though, they have been to Disney World in Orlando, Fla.); but they loved Versailles, the autoGuide and the gardens.
We went to Louvre for 2 hours and visited only the Egyptian aisle, which was recommended by the childrens´ teachers.
Personally, I enjoyed Sacre Coeur and the artists street. I recommend a visit to Notre Dame.
The Parisians have a wonderful city!! One of my issues was the safety of the neighborhood... all I can say is: Wow!! Our children went alone to buy some groceries, we walked from the apt to the Taxi station (about 40 meters from the apt) and took the Taxi from the apt to the airport at 5 a.m. (40 Euros), and everything was Ok.
We had a wonderful stay at Virginia´s apt!! All I can say is: what you see is what you get and what you read on all the reviews is true!! I will remember Virginia as a dear friend in Paris!!Response from Virginia Dae - 11/23/2011

Dear A, I am impressed with this review and I thank you from the bottom of my heart in the name of myself, past cutomers and future customer who I hope will be as content as you and your family.
I admitt that I was also a bit concern about "the safty issue" you had before coming and I am so relieved that it was dissipated by the reality. I hope the children will remember that there are still places in the world where they can go and buy their little "candies" alone, almost like adults.
I wish you all well being, life and protectio. (I was impressed with the love you have for your family) -virginia -

Greensboro, NCWonerful affordable Paris apartment with million dollar view
Left on 10/08/2011 for a stay in September 2011
My husband and I stayed in the Eiffel Tower view apartment, for a week in early September. It was everything the reviews promised, and more. The apartment is clean, well kept, comfortable, homey, and filled with plants. It has a feeling of spaciousness, and there is plenty of room for luggage, in the large bedroom closet. The views are indeed lovely, and we were looking more at sky than city, which was most welcome. The weather was warm, and we had lovely breezes through the apartment, if we wanted them. There are two exposures, roughly northern and western, and we had great cross breezes on warm days. And then the windows sealed well, when we needed to block out the wind and the noise. We slept very well and the fan helped cover the noises of the city.
Virginia is a most excellent host. She was diligent and responsive with emails, as I was booking the apartment. The financial transaction was seamless. And she was ready and waiting when we arrived, and available to answer questions when needed. The 11th arrondissement is an interesting area, described in the guidebooks as "bohemian.†As an american, I would call it working class. We did not hear any English spoken, but the shopkeepers and restaurateurs were very accommodating with my halting French. We had a most memorable meal at the nearby Le Bistrot du Painteur, a tian of zucchini and scallops, which was both interesting and reasonably priced. I would highly recommend the Eiffel Tower apartment and we would definitely return.

Thank you so much for this detailed, true review. Reading it I could feel the breeze on warm days in the apartment, see the sun rising and seting upon the Eiffel Tower, see the "bohemian/working class" neighbourhood through your eyes. YES, "Le Bistro du Peintre" miam, miam. Their stake is also the best I've had during the last 5 years.... in Paris. Looking forward to greeting you again when the time is right.

Left on 09/15/2011 for a stay in August 2011
My husband and I stayed here with our young children, ages 4 and 2, and had a brilliant time. The apartment was perfect in so many ways:
- Spacious and well decorated, all the comforts of home!
- Amazing views of the Eiffel Tower
- Very useful neighborhood
- Very well connected to transport (metro and busses)
- Elevator/lift to 7th floor for all our bags!
But probably one of the best parts was Virginia the owner, who was very caring, responsive and gracious. She met us on arrival, helped get us settled and told us about the neighborhood and transport options. She has really thought of everything to make your stay enjoyable: she even has guidebooks and electricity adapters in the flat in case you need them.
My one bit of advice is that if you are staying here, please do remember it is someone's apartment and not a hotel. Be courteous and treat it as you would treat your own space.
We had a wonderful stay and absolutely hope to return again one day soon! Merci beaucoup Virginia!! -

The view from the apartment is fantastic. We wanted an Eiffel Tower view, and you get that, but much more. The Voltaire square and surrounding streets are the heartbeat of Paris and are a beautiful sight to behold each morning as the shops open and the people begin their day. We travelled with our 7yr-old and always felt safe around the apartment, even walking later in the evening to surrounding restaurants. The apartment itself is white glove clean and spacious. Access to the metro is steps from the apartment door and easy to navigate. You can get anywhere in Paris in under 30min by metro. Of course, Virginia's welcome was the bow on top that made us feel confident in our choice. We can't wait to come back and experience more of this incredible city.

This is a wonderful, cozy & comfortable 2 room apartment rental in the Bastille area of Paris. 1 minute walk to the Metro, and to a bus stop (the 69 bus will take you to the Louvre and then to the Eiffel Tower), to supermarkets, street markets, cafes & restaurants. Very "un touristy", you will be in the middle of an authentic neighborhood, but still close to all the tourist spots. Notre Dame, the Seine, Pont Nuef are all within walking distance.
Our hostess, Viriginia, was absolutely lovely. We ended up arriving to Paris hours early (due to airline issues), and even though the previous guests had not yet checked out, she took our luggage & gave us a great plan for a walking tour of the neighborhood, and the weekly "flea market", to kill a couple hours. Virginia was there every time we had a question or concern, she's a fountain of knowledge & wisdom, and clearly loves Paris. Perfect Engish too!
The apartment has a spectacular view over the rooftops of Paris, and right to the Eiffel Tower. We would watch the tower light up on the hour each evening, while sipping wine in our Paris apartment, life was good! The apartment is on the 7th floor, there are two working elevators, and there is a secure, locked entrance. You'll have one bedroom that overlooks cafes & the busy street below, a 2nd room that could either be a living room or a 2nd bedroom (fold out bed), a small but totally functional kitchen, a modern bathroom and a small entranceway/hallway.
Highly recommended, we will definately be returning.

Left on 08/12/2011 for a stay in May 2011
We stayed at the Branly apartment on Rue de l'Universite the last three nights of our honeymoon this past May. It was an incredible experience. We used the taxi service recommended by the rental management company parisaddress.com, and we were glad we did. It's worth the extra money for ease and convenience, plus the taxi driver we had was a superb tour guide and very funny. The apartment is adorable and has any amenity you need - glasses, plates, flatware, etc. It's very clean and modern, just like the pictures show. The terrace view will take your breath away again again. The up-close view of the Eiffel Tower makes this property worth every penny. The only negative about the apartment itself is that there is a funky smell coming from the drain pipes in the bathroom, so make sure you keep the bathroom door shut at all times! It seemed to be worse at different times of the day, but I'm not sure why. It's not unbearable though, although I reduced the comfort star rating by one because of it. The service and ease of booking the apartment was great, but the reason why I reduced it by a star rating is because by accident I left 4 jackets hanging in the only wardrobe/closet provided in the flat, which is through a door panel opening in the wall by the bed that looks just like the wall itself when it's closed. It wasn't until we got home to the states that I realized I had left them behind. I contacted the management service immediately by email, and they got back to me right away and told me they would check with the cleaning service about the items, which they did. Three of the four jackets were "found" by the cleaning service. The fourth jacket was an adorable little trench I had bought just before our trip. It was so adorable in fact, that the cleaning service decided to steal it for themselves. It was not an expensive item whatsoever, $30 USD @ Tjmaxx in fact, but it's the principle of the matter. So fair warning if you use the wardrobe/closet: check it before you leave to make sure you didn't leave anything behind!!! The management service returned the other three, but I'm still disappointed about the stolen jacket. It's irreplaceable, and believe me I've looked online everywhere to replace it! Maybe the thief will post it on ebay someday and I'll have a chance to buy my jacket back! But truly, even with the stolen jacket I wouldn't hesitate for a second to recommend this place to anyone looking for an authentic, romantic stay in a coveted arrondissement in Paris. These are memories to last a lifetime.

Paris is accessible in every way from this ideal location and setting. My husband and I enjoyed two weeks in this spacious (especially for Paris), airy, and light filled flat. We found the accommodations and location comfortable and charming.
The many views from the many windows are spectacular. Not only could we enjoy rooftops, and the Eiffel Tower, but also the city streets below. The “69†bus is practically at the door as is the Metro station. A boulangerie, a typical Paris Café, a chocolate shop, and a Monoprix are within steps of the apartment. The Bastille is walkable as is Le Marais and beyond. What fun!
Virginia Dae is the most helpful and professional host. She made the entire process seamless, and pleasant. There were no disappointments at all. We were delighted with Virginia’s knowledge, warmth, and her sincere enjoyment of our process of discovering Paris.
The walking tours with Virginia are outstanding. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the history of Paris Tour. We were joined by our children and their friends (all in their 20s) for the walking tour of Montmartre. We all loved it!!
We are so fortunate to now have a dear and trusted friend in Paris. Thank you Virginia. We will be back.Response from Virginia Dae - 06/12/2011

There is so much to say but I must begin by first thanking Virginia, without her guidance, we would not have been able to absorb the enchantment of the surrounding neighborhood. My family and I took the Eurostar from London to Paris and the taxi was able to easily find the apartment building which is next to Jeff deBruges chocolate shop. Virginia escorted us to the apartment upon arrival. The apartment was perfect for the four of us. The two kids slept in the fold out couch and my wife and I slept in the spacious bedroom. The first thing i noticed was the Eiffel Tower glistening on the hour at 7:00PM that view was breath taking in itself. The wireless worked great everywhere in the apartment and my daughter was able to Skype her friends back home and show them the Eiffel Tower when it glistened. There were so many shops such as bakeries, butchers, fish markets and a Monoprix just to the right of the apartment entrance. The entrance to the Voltaire metro stop was just outside the McDonalds about 30 yards away. I brought a 220/110 stepdown converter and this worked great in the bedroom to charge batteries and ipods. I did try once out by the television and I had to reset the fusebox, too many connections. Probably the only thing wrong about the entire trip was that we did not stay longer, we will stay for a week next time. I will never forget our goodbye to you from the bus :) we made it to Gard du Nord perfectly. My kids will never forget your place Virginia and my wife still would like to practice Yoga with you the next time we are there, and we will be back. A tout a l'heure.

The apartment is clean, spacious, well-furnished, very comfortable, and superbly managed by Virginia Dae (and it has a wonderful view of the Eiffel Tower, too). It's located in a colorful, lively part of city. Access to both metro and bus lines is literally just out the door; and there are plenty of excellent food shops and restaurants nearby, as well as a high-quality grocery store. In fact, both Père Lachaise cemetery and the Place de la Bastille are easily walkable. When my family and I arrived to the apartment, we were greeted by Ms. Virginia. She was very warm and kind from the moment we met her. She kindly helped us with our luggage and we proceeded to the 7th floor apartment. As soon as we walked in the door, it felt like we were staying at someone's house. The decor was very homey, and I immediately saw the Eiffel Tower from the window, just like the picture from Flipkey had shown. What a view! We ate our breakfast overlooking the Eiffel Tower every day. The apartment had everything we needed, from the towels, to the linens, to the plates, silverware and glasses. It was home away from home. Ms. Virginia was kind enough to show us around the neighborhood upon our arrival, such as restuarants, grocery stores and bakeries. The apartment accomodated our family of four perfectly. The apartment is very clean and would definitely stay here again in the future. The apartment is in a great location, and is close to the Metro. I am guilty, as I'm sure many travellers are, of always looking for the closest city center location to stay. I am so happy I ventured beyond on this occasion. The apartment is extremely well located and only a two minute walk from the metro which Virginia explains so well that even a monkey could manage it. The district is knee deep in restaurants, bakeries and fresh food stores. I'd have stayed for the food alone. About a block from the apartment on the way to the metro is a store that sells cooked chickens and baby potatoes cooked in their skins. Ideal for a quick lunch at home. The restaurant one block away is open 24 hrs, as far as I know and serves good food at a reasonable price. It is a very safe area and everytime we returned from our adventures, it felt like we were coming home. Sitting viewing the Eiffel Tower whilst drinking champagne was a lovely treat and not to be missed. I'm attaching a photo though it doesn't really do the view justice as it seems much closer when you're looking at it. Virginia is a mind of information. Write down what she says! We didn't and had endless discussions about who heard what. I, of course was right!! Best idea is to get a tour from Virginia. I'm sorry we didn't. She is truly a font of information and a joy to listen to. Her energy and lightness is infectious and makes Paris all the more enjoyable.

We stayed at this apartment in January with my boyfriend, and all I can say is it was the best choice we could have made. From the moment we stepped in, we really felt at home: the apartment is spacey, cozy, clean, and the beautiful decoration makes it feel parisian. The view of the Eiffel Tower and Sacre Coeur were, of course, a particular highlight. I loved the fact that the kitchen is fully equipped, which can both save you money and provide wonderful opportunity for romantic dinners with a spectacular view. The location as well is great, really close to a metro station and within walking distance of many interesting sights. The overall experience therefore was much superior to staying in a hotel, the quality/price ratio also being a factor.
But for me, the most important aspect of my Paris experience was the correlation between this wonderful apartment and the walking tours with Virginia, our host. I've travelled all across Europe but Paris is definitely the only city I've been to, where I actually felt like I needed a guide to really enjoy it to the fullest. The sheer size, the number of sights, the rich history and countless secrets this city has, made these tours a real joy. Our guide and hostess was fantastic company and really helped us see Paris beyond the clichés. Between our stay at this authentic parisian apartment, and our walking tours and interesting conversations with Virginia, we never felt like tourists during our stay; we felt like travellers.

Thank you for this "warm hearted" review which "breathes" love for Paris and well being with the days we spent together. You were lovely
guests and companions during the walking tours. I am also grateful for the way you received what I had to give and share. Thank you for having been so curious, for the questions you asked and for showing your happyness. Like a good "chef/cook" I am doing my best to prepare good "dishes" with the ingredients Paris offer and it is only when you see a smiiling, happy face that you know you did a good job. virginia -

Great location with a beautiful view of the Eiffel Tower and other buildings. Everything was within walking distance for our immediate needs. The bus and subways that take you to all the tourist areas were right down the street and easily accessible.
The apartment was great for a family of four with all the conveniences needed for the week we stayed. We cooked a few times and enjoyed nice quality family time as stared out into the city of Paris.Response from Virginia Dae - 01/17/2011

C'est très simple. It is so simple to say: when I stay in the apartment I am chez moi. At my own, well known and well loved apartment. I will not come to Paris if I cannot stay here. The apartment is large and comfortable, has magnificent views from the salon and kitchen over rooftops to the Tour Eiffel and, out of the bedroom window, over the plaza of the mairie of the 11th arrondisement. It is a Parisien quartier, a deux pas of the Opéra de Bastille, convenient to the métro (and walkable, if you like to walk, to the Louvre and beyond). Virginia is wonderful and as much help as you want her to be. I have stayed in the apartment since, about, 2004. And, as I said, I wouldn't stay anywhere else.

Dear Beth, thank you for this reviw. It seems to me that we've known each other for ever, not only since 2004. Is this feeling due to our common love for cats, arts, beautiful things we shared in a previous life. ? I am honored, proud and happy that the artist you are and who had the opportunity to share the home of one of our former presidents, is so attached to our modest little spot in Paris. It is always a joy to receive you and great luck to have met you. Thank you for everything and give a little caress to Cally from Virginia.

A great value!
The apartment is romantic, quaint and very comfortable with a distant view of the Eiffel Tower in a very livable neighborhood. It is convenient to the metro (at the end of the block) as well as pastry, fruit, fish, cheese, wine and butcher shops within a block as well as a full service supermarket and pharmacy.
It is managed by Virginia Dae who lives in the building. Virginia makes all the difference, especially if this is your first visit to Paris. From the moment we arrived, it felt like a little angel was sent to watch over us to make sure our stay was the very best it could be. Not only did Virginia look after us and see to our comfort, but her knowledge and passion for Paris is unparalleled and she made herself available to help us make the most of our time.
For the week we spent there we truly felt like Parisians living in a hip neighborhood and not tourists. We look forward to returning and a more long term rental arrangement as soon as our schedules permit.Response from Virginia Dae - 01/23/2011

We spent a week in this adorable apartment and it was terrific! The lift was very helpful and the Wifi worked perfectly. The apartment is spacious and immaculate and we enjoyed "cooking in" several nights. The village atmosphere all around made us feel like Parisians if only for a week.
From the living room window, we could see the Eiffel Tower in the distance. Not much better than a view of the Eiffel Tower - especially over the holidays when it twinkles at night on the hour! It snowed several days and we felt snug and warm in our apartment.
Virginia is a wealth of information and a gracious hostess. We definitely would stay here again and will recommend it to our friends. Paris is always a treat.Response from Virginia Dae - 12/29/2010

If you're looking for an apartment with a great view, wonderful location and helpful service, this is the one for you.
Located within a minute's walk to the Metro, as well as fine shops for everything you might need during your stay, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this apartment. Our 6th trip to Paris only left us wanting more.
Warm service with a smile from Virginia, as well as a clean, well-appointed apartment. And the neighborhood is a hot spot for new restaurants as well. You won't go wrong staying in the Eiffel View apartment.
On our next trip to Paris, we will be looking forward to staying here once again.Response from Virginia Dae - 12/14/2010

Thank you Mitch. I appreciate your straight, concise, review about our apartment, especially knowing how well you know this city, how impartial but also critical you may be when something is not what is expected (ex the review you left on your gastronomical blog on a famous restaurant around here).
I am honored to have had such a knowledgeable guest about Paris and the best gastronomical places around this "miam, miam" city. Will you allow me to give to future customers the address of your blog ? Looking forward to welcoming you again, Virginia -

Left on 12/12/2010 for a stay in August 2010
We have been living in Singapore for a couple of years and Virginia's flat is just the best option when we want to stay 1 or 2 weeks in Paris. With my wife, we already know Paris very well and this is a perfect location, the bus 69 or the metro gets us to the major touristic places quickly (Louvre, Orsay, Notre Dame, Saint Germain, Tour Eiffel, Champs-Elysees) and at the same time, we love the lively atmosphere of the Bastille district.
The view over the whole city and especially the sunset are breathtaking.
The flat is really stylish and neat, we particularly like the cosy chic bedroom and the art pieces give it a slightly vintage appeal.
Virginia's apartment is our Parisian home and we hope we can come again every year while we live abroad.

Dear Pierre & Andrea, I am very touched by your message especially knowing how well you know Paris and the big choice you have for places to stay when you come here. The bus 69 (which I call the magic bus), the roof tops, the view on the Eiffel Tower, keep us almost "addicted" to this spot, don't they ? Looking forward to seeing you again and again and wishing you beauty, peace and well being

My first trip to Paris. Greeted at the apartment by our charming Parisian host. She proceeded to walk us about the neighborhood pointing out all the amenities. Only one of our adventures with Virginia...lunch, the marketplace and champagne made wonderful memories as well. The 100+ year old lift was quite exciting and cozy. The apartment is modest by "large" American standards but quite comfortable. All plugs were fitted with adaptors. Hair dryer, iron and the large closet made unpacking easy. My favorite meal in Paris was at the tiny kitchen table sharing Bordeaux from the local wine shop, fresh cheese bought directly from the farms at market, and a roasted chicken from across the rue'.Oh, and fresh bread from the bakery below. As we toasted our experience, the brilliant light show from the Eiffel Tower entertained the rest of our senses. I adored the street sounds below. We had easy access to the subway and bus system. Always the charm of Paris, coupled with our true vision of her people will evoke memories of our Eiffel Tower apartment and the vivacious Virginia. Merci !

We had an absolutely magical time in Paris - and much of our enjoyment was due the fantastic apartment.
This was my 6th trip to Paris and I will definitely stay here again! The location is perfect, the view is worth a million bucks, and it's so close to metro and the "magical" Bus 69. There are boulangeries, fromageries etc all at the door - simply unbeatable.
We loved our tour with Virginia - her knowledge and enthusiasm are incredible and she spoke with such passion and attention, which is so much better than the average tour guide spiell. We also followed through with many of her fantastic suggestions : the musée Carnavalet, the hidden courtyards, the boat tour and Chez Janou for our best meal of the trip (the chocolate mousse was positively sinful ).
Thank you Virginia for your kindness and thoughtfulness, for making all our interactions friendly and easy and for making this apartment available to people like us. We will be back and we will be recommending you to friends.

This beautiful little apartment is the perfect place to stay and feel like you are really living in Paris and not just passing through. My stay in 2007, was my third stay, the others were in 2001, with my sister and 2004, with an old French friend. The view of the glittering Eiffel tower is exquisite and nearly as exciting as seeing the tower up close. I loved the smell of fresh baked croissants wafting through the kitchen window each morning from the boulangerie below. It was possible to fix inexpensive meals or fancy ones in the small, but efficient kitchen. The rooms are spacious and well furnished and there's always hot water in the shower. Virginia Dae is so friendly and ready to help with any questions about the City of Light, or even lead a tour. A grocery store, pharmacy, individual shops and many restaurants are closeby. The Metro is close too, but a walk through the quaint streets to Ile de la Cite should not be missed. Returning to the apartment in the evening is so comfortable and so much more inviting than any hotel room. There are even numerous CD selections from which to choose to soothe one to sleep. I will always check with Virginia to she if the little apartment is available when I plan a trip to Paris.

When my family and I first arrived at this charming
address, I was overwhelmed by Virginia’s welcoming
introduction to the apartment as well as to the
area and Paris in general. Virginia took the time
to let us know how everything worked, gave us
stories from the apartment, let us know how the
metro system works and the standard of bakeries and
restaurants in the area; where to go for good
quality.
We felt at home at once!
The apartment has a very homey feel to it, it’s
charmingly decorated which gives it soul and like
it has a story to tell itself. It’s clean and the
sanitary areas are in good condition, which for my
part is essential. There is a great view from the
apartment. It’s really nice to wake up to the sight
of the Eiffel Tour.
The apartment is located in a very non-touristic
area, which I really like as it gives a more
genuine experience of Paris. It is easy to find and
reach the apartment by public transport from the
airport Orly. Place de la Bastille is close by and
easy to find on the map; if you can find that you
can find your way home… The area seems safe and
the surrounding streets are exactly my idea of
Paris, narrow with beautiful architecture, cute
little squares and lot’s of cafés.
We had Virginia for tea on our last day in Paris,
and she is a big part of the experience of staying
in this apartment. She is very open minded towards
other cultures and nationalities and seems to learn
from her guests to make future customers feel even
more welcome. It’s a great effort from her part and
I really appreciate that. I also like the fact that
if you leave something behind in the refrigerator
that is fresh and in good condition she makes sure
to pass it on to people in need.
I will definitely come back to this place for all
the above reasons. I will bring my husband next

Dear Maja, first of all please receive my humble thank you for your visit and for this review which visibly comes from your heart. Thank you for your guidance and advice for restaurants, boulangeries, patisseries, etc. All your recommendations were great. The apartment is perfect!! It was so nice after a long day of sightseeing to come "home" and relax, enjoy a nice meal together, and watch the beautiful sparkling Eiffel Tower. The weather was superb! We could not have wished for better. The volcano eruption in Iceland extended our stay in Paris by 5 days. We liked to call them "bonus" days. Being able to stay in the apartment for the extra days was a blessing. This has been a fabulous vacation for us all. Thank you for your hospitality and cozy apartment. By the way the CD player which was on "strike" when you came has been replaced by one on which you can also plug your IPod/MP3. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay in this lovely apartment. It is conveniently located right near a metro stop and close to everything you may need. Patissiers, boulangeries, boucheries, grocery stores, cafes, everything!!
Virginia was there to meet me when I arrived and gave me a great overview of the neighborhood and the apartment. She told me where I could find everything I needed and made sure I knew and understood everything about the apartment.
The apartment itself is very clean, comfortable and welcoming. And, the view of the Eiffel Tower can't be beat. I spent several nights of my stay coming home after dinner, enjoying a glass of wine and the lovely view. The experience was made even more pleasant by the available CD's and mini-stereo system in the apartment.
I found the furnishings and bedding to be very comfortable. The walk in closet was a great touch. A fully equipped kitchen allowed me to have breakfast in the apartment before I began my day of exploring Paris.
If you are a couple or small family, you should certainly consider this apartment. I have stayed in many apartments throughout Europe and while they have all been nice, I have never forgotten my stay here. The view, the comfort and the personal service made for a wonderful stay.

I have vacationed in Paris twice and both times I stayed here in this great apartment with my sister and one of those visits my niece joined us. What wonderful times we had enjoying the sights and the city. One of my favorite things to do is wander through the outdoor market with its bustling activity as the merchants sell their food and goods.
After a long day out it was good to return, sit back, relax and enjoy the sparkling lights of the Eiffel Tower while sipping our wine. I have to say AAHHH!!-not just for the wine but also how comfortable we felt in the apartment and the area, Virginia's personal attention and for the good memories. Left on 03/07/2010 for a stay in September 2003
I have had the pleasure of staying at the Paris Insight apartment
building on numerous occasions over the past dozen years or so. The
facility is wonderfully Parisian, comfortable, and absolutely the best
valued accommodations I have experienced in the Paris metropolitan area.
The view of the Eiffel Tower across the intervening buildings tops is
absolutely stunning. The location of the apartment, literally within a
couple hundred steps of the Voltaire Metro Station, makes all parts of
the City readily accessible.. And if you are into walking, Notre Dame is
a nice brisk evening exercise away.
But perhaps the most unique and
valued feature of the Paris Insight apartment experience is the readily
accessible onsite manager and the attention she pays to enhancing your
stay. Should you desire any information whatsoever about Paris,, dinner
reservations, recommendations, and even topic-specific guided tours, the
exceptionally charming and knowledgeable manager Paris Insight will most
pleasantly accommodate your every need. For a very modest additional
fee, a guided walking tour is sure to be the highlight of your visit to
Paris.
I have recommended Paris Insight to friends and colleagues over
the years and all have returned to say that their expectations were
exceeded.

I’ll always feel that way about Paris. Today is a quiet Sunday and I’m taking some extra time
to enjoy the salon, my coffee and mostly the view of Paris. No matter how many times I visit Paris, it always feels like the first. Here, I experience the excitement and anticipation that a child might feel at Christmas time. This visit to Paris , however had me feel like a Parisian and not like a tourist. Was it just luck that I came to Virginia’s flat and not a hotel ? I’m not sure, but having spent time in this flat and speaking with Virginia, I’m grateful to whatever brought me here. The first thing you notice when you arrive is that the manager is delightful and makes you feel right at home. She acquaints you with the area and how to get around. I even took one of her walking tours which are quite unique. The apartment is charming and comfortable and on a cold day it is nice to cozy up with a book and enjoy the view of Paris. The neighborhood is friendly and convenient. There are patisseries, grocers, wine shops and restaurants nearby at reasonable prices. There is a famous outdoor market at the Bastille which is a short walk away. You can grab a taxi, catch the local bus or metro to the attractions or do as I did and walk to the Louvre and another day to Notre Dame. I will stay here again and highly recommend it, especially to newcomers who are looking for personal attention.
