MelbourneWarm, quiet and easy location
Left on 03/06/2013 for a stay in January 2013
The Lovely Paris apartment was a welcoming and easy start to our European winter trip. Our family of four were comfortable, and the location is perfect for fresh food shopping, close to an amazing market, wine shops, patisseries, chocolate shops and even an organic grocery shop. The metro is close, making getting anywhere in Paris a breeze.
Colette and Shalev made booking, arriving and departing very easy, and were available to answer any questions, such as a good local doctor, or a restaurant recommendation. There is also a lot of information on Paris sites and activities in the apartment. They put much care into ensuring visitors' experience of Paris is as wonderful as possible.
Thank you very much, the Robarts family. -

Virginia, USAThe most incredible, perfect vacation in a very lovely Paris apa
Left on 11/01/2012 for a stay in September 2012
From beginning to end, our stay in Paris was amazing! Colette, our hostess, kept in touch with us from the time we expressed an interest in the apartment until after we returned home! Never having traveled to Europe, we were wary of having a long-distance money deposit, but Colette called us after we e-mailed, and that conversation, the detailed & professional e-mails, and the contract put us at ease. The apartment was not available for our first night in Paris, so Colette arranged a Bed and Breakfast around the corner from the apartment for us for 1 night. Colette left the apartment key there for us. We arrived at the apartment to find a welcome note and bottle of wine for us on the table. So sweet! The apartment was neat and clean and had everything we needed and more. Colette has a guest book with information around town, pamphlets, contact information, how to call out of the country, etc. Everything was exactly as described to us, only better! Our time in Paris was unbelievably wonderful, and the bakery and cafe that Colette recommended were great! L'Ami Pierre (the cafe) was perfect-close by, friendly people, amazing food, excellent service, and an accordion player who stopped in the 2 times we were there put the experience over the top! Colette taped the week's weather report to the door for us on day 1. We got together later that day, and Colette answered our questions, told us about the area, drew us a neighborhood map with places to go, and we got to know each other. The apartment was nice-a comfortable bed, washer (a must!), even a blow dryer, which was great since our aC adaptor wasn't working well. We got together again before we left, and it was sad to say goodbye! Colette was so accommodating and helpful, made us feel right at home. She even brought over a scale so we could weigh our luggage, and mailed a heavy package for us after we left (too many souvenirs to pack!) We will definitely rent from Colette again on our return visit!

We stayed in the other apartment that Colette and Shalev have. Also excellent we where a family of four which was a bit of a tight squeeze but a Very comfortable sofa bed and Colette provided a small mattress as well. The apartment is very quite and well furnished. No grill or oven in the kitchen but an excellent hob & microwave, plus dishwasher & washing machine. The area is excellent easy walking to either bus or metro and lovely market less than 5 mins away. Plenty of other shops and cafes. Colette couldn't of been more helpful, excellent information before we arrived and than a very friendly welcome and advice when we arrived. Would definitely hope to stay there again. If arriving by Eurostar there is a very easy bus form the Gar de Nord to within 5 mins walk of the apartment.

BrisbaneGreat apartment in Paris near Bastille - 'Lovely Paris apartment
Left on 08/02/2012 for a stay in July 2012
We stayed in ‘Lovely Paris apartment’ in Bastille for seven nights mid July 2012. Great communication by Colette prior to arrival and instructions were accurate. We took a cab from CDG which cost just under the €55 she quoted it would cost. We would have normally caught the train or a shuttle however, a lot of luggage this trip – going to a wedding.
The apartment was great and at the rear of the building. All rooms are a good size. Apart from food, everything seemed to be supplied even band-aid strip in the kitchen! I think the only thing you need is soap and shampoo/conditioner and of course, your other personal items. Note with washing tablets (supplied) for the washing machine: you only need a half tablet per wash so slice them with a knife. I am used to using a front loader and if you use a whole tablet there are too many suds. The shower is typically small however, the water was hot and great pressure.
I researched heavily and chose this apartment for two things which were our ‘must haves’ – wifi and a washing machine. The bed is firm/hard so if that is a problem look elsewhere. There are three flights of stairs to contend with (no lift) but that is typical of Paris. I also considered previous reviews of this apartment which indicated it was a good option.
We walked nearly everywhere so didn’t find the location of the apartment a problem at all. It is about a 15 to 20 minute walk from Bastille. I think we only used the Metro on our last two days there and on our first day we walked for 12 hours! There are Metro stops close by and if shoe shopping is on the list there are plenty of shoe shops on the main road at the end of the street!
Colette was very helpful on arrival with information; she came into the apartment and spent about an hour with us chatting and supplying maps etc. She also came to help with our bags which was unexpected and a lovely gesture. I wouldn’t expect this to be usual but as we had so many bags… She was a great host and lives above the apartment which is a bonus. We passed her only once during our stay and when we left. The market is minutes away as well as an organic bakery, and a supermarket only just off the market area which sold some great pate. Apartment is opposite a small park. Overlooks tennis courts to the view of a typical Parisian building. Very quiet.
Colette kindly went to a lot of effort to order us a taxi when we left for Bordeaux by train. I would have hated to have tried to order the cab with my entry level French! Nothing was a problem. She was very kind.
We would definitely recommend this apartment and as above the only possible drawbacks would be the hard bed and three flights of stairs if they could be considered difficulties for you.
It was great value. Highly recommended!!
Thank you so very much Colette for a lovely stay in Paris. The postcards were appreciated and very nice! The wedding was just wonderful!Response from Colette and Shalev - 09/13/2012

For the Bed, I didn't know about it.
I must say, it's the first time someone speak about it.
I'm surprise.
I will change it for another one more soft.
Best regards

This apartment is excellent value, well located, and fantastic for a family. We spent 5 nights in Paris in april and the facilities at the apartment (kitchen / Laundry) made our life extremely easy, combined with access to the subway, restaurants, and major train stations, it was great. We didn't meet the owners as they were away at the time, but they left instructions for us and contacted me on the first night (from Rome) to check we were ok. Cannot recommend the apartment enough, was our best accommodation of our 5 week Europe trip.

Great apartment!!! Owners are very nice, extremely helpful, and speak very good English! Colette even had a bottle of wine and a homemade chocolate cake for me when I arrived, just came out of the oven! The apartment is located about 15 minutes from the Gare de Lyon station in Paris. The apartment is not located on any major streets so it is very quite during the day and night. There are a few club type places a few spots down, but they were only active on Friday night. You could hear some noise, but barely. I was still able to sleep just fine.
The neighborhood is very safe, as sometimes I would find myself having to walk to the Metro station at 5 am or walk back to the apartment at 12 am. I never once felt unsafe walking the streets. 2 different pin codes and a key is required; one pin for the outside door, one pin for the building, and then the key for your door. Once again, very safe! The apartment is fully stocked and equipped with everything you could possibly need (not including food). There is a Monoprix supermarket about 10 minutes (walk) from the apartment. If you shop here be sure to bring your own bags or they will charge you for bags. Once you get to the apartment the owner (Colette) will actually take a map and mark all of her favorite places to eat and a few more markets that you can get food from. She will also help if you need some directions or suggestions of places to go.
As far as the rooms:
Bathroom - good size, standing shower (no tub), one toilet, mirror, and washing machine.
Kitchen - good size, stove top, microwave, standard refrigerator, sink, dishwasher. Fully stocked with all the plates, cups, and other kitchen utensils you need.
Bedroom - Queen size bed, dresser, lamp. The bed takes up most of the room, but there is still plenty room to walk around.
Living Room - telephone (free us landline calling), TV, cable, books, dvds, couch, table, chairs, good size room.
Fore warning, the apartment is located on the third floor, but in Paris the ground floor is considered 0 versus the american 1, so you will actually walk up four floors of stairs. Apartment comes with wireless internet. I had no problems getting on it, worked perfectly! I really don't have any complaints, I stayed 7 days and 6 nights. It was perfect! I plan on staying here next time I am in Paris. Oh and in case you are wondering, a taxi cab from Charles de Gualle airport to Gare de Lyon station cost me 55 Euros. If I had the taxi take me straight to the apartment it would of been around 70 Euros. -

Comfortable and homely apartment, near to many shops and restaurants in a residential part of Paris, good communication links, but nice and quiet at night, the owner Colett, is a mine of information and is able to make recommendations within the area - my wife was even presented with a bottle of wine on her birthday

We stayed in January 2012 for 4 nights - Colette was fantastic - she recommended some lovely local restaurants which were one of the highlights of our stay. The apartment is in an excellent location and very easy to walk or metro to everywhere you need to go. The local market was just gorgeous and there were some really good shops very close by. Colette booked a taxi to the airport for us and was so helpful and a pleasure to deal with. I'd certainly use this apartment again if I stay in Paris.

This apartment is centrally and very conveniently located. It is only a few minutes to the metro station and the supermarket. The flat is very well equipped - everything you need to prepare a meal in the kitchen and the bed is very comfortable! There is more than enough space for three people and it's very quiet. The owner Colette is such a friendly and warm person and will give you advice to help you make the most out of your Paris stay. I highly recommend renting this apartment, I'm sure I'll be back.

Though not not the lap of luxury, this is a very nice place to stay in Paris at an excellent price. The owners live on the floor above and they speak excellent English. The metro station Ledru-Rollin is an easy 10 minute walk. From there you can get anywhere in the Paris area.

First of all...Colette and Shalev were great to work with! Thanks so much!
This was our first time in Paris. The area seemed slightly 'shady' at first, but it was the weekend and the businesses in the neighborhood were closed with the metal shades down. When Monday came, we were amazed at the difference when the shades were up and places were open. It was like a different place.
This may be too much information but you should know just the same... We weren't disappointed with the place except for the bedroom. We had a really hard time finding a place that was available for our dates so when Shalev replied that they had availability, we grabbed it! We knew it wasn't 'fancy' but we just wanted a place where we could have some quiet, intimate, quality time sans kids. Well, unfortunately, the bed needs to be fixed, replaced, or something. The bed frame makes so much noise you can't even get in the bed without making crazy loud noises. I woke up every time my husband moved during the night so I exhausted by the time we left. Needless to say, the intimate weekend we'd hoped for didn't happen. This is a fairly small building and we didn't feel the need to have everyone in it knowing what we were up to.
The rest of the place was fine. It was well stocked and pretty clean. The living room window looks straight across into other peoples windows, or down to a tennis court from a local gym. The bedroom window also looks into other peoples windows...but in Paris this is to be expected. We stayed nice and warm as the heaters all worked great. Getting in the front door was tricky as we'd never used that kind of key.
If you just want a place to rest your head or rest your feet, then it's fine. There are two Metro stations pretty close by...which was so simple to use. As with most French towns/cities, there are plenty of boulangeries and restaurants in the area as well.
We were not disappointed in anything but the bed. Like I said before, Colette and Shalev were great to work with...even allowing us to leave later than the usual check out time with no extra costs or problems.
I say I would recommend it to a friend...however if there had been a 'Maybe', I would have chosen that instead.Response from Colette and Shalev - 03/31/2012

Thanks for letting us know about the noisy bed issue.
We have fixed it some time ago and the guests that came afterwards have told us that it's perfectly ok now.
Thanks again, looking forward to welcoming you on your next visit to Paris.

Melbourne, AustraliaA great base in Paris
Left on 10/03/2011 for a stay in September 2011
We stayed in this apartment for 1 week in September 2011. Colette and Shalev were very prompt during my booking and even telephoned me speak directly. They also sent detailed maps and information regarding the apartment in a PDF prior to my arrival. Arriving at the apartment was as we expected in a quite street in Bastille, a park is opposite the apartment. A neighbourhood of young families. Very much a local experience, no tourists around, we could shop at local supermarket and eat at restaurants being only non-residents. This was enjoyable indeed. A metro station is a quick walk away as is many shops, restaurants and large supermarket. We could walk to many other places such as The Marais, The Seine and also to Gare de Lyon when we wanted a longer train (non metro). Wifi was good in the apartment and never a problem. The area was quiet at night and very safe. There was numerous Velib (rental bike) stations in neighbouring streets and we enjoyed renting bikes. A perfect stay, thank you Colette and Shavlev - I have fallen more in love with Paris!

Very impressed with this property. I will echo the views of the previous review. The owner (Collette) really make things as simple as possible for you, even before you arrive, and is only more than willing to assist you with anything you need. We arrived very late at night and small touches like leaving juice and milk in the fridge for us were very greatly appreciated. Location is brilliant - maximum 10 minutes to different metros so you can easily navigate around town. Lovely local atmosphere as the area is full of cafes and the a fresh food market - you really feel like you are living the Parisian lifestyle. Unit was fantastic - very clean and well equipped. One small word of caution - we had a large stroller which we found slightly difficult getting to the unit (across a small courtyard and up 3 flights of spiral staircase) - but I would hardly let this deter you. Thankyou Lovely Paris apartment for a wonderful stay!

Before arriving I could tell that this was going to be a great place - Very friendly when booking along with detailed instructions with directions, key pick up, etc. It did not disappoint. Apartment was very spacious for the two of us, very clean and well appointed with great finishing touches - You really can tell that this place is looked after well. The owner (Colette) was very welcoming, and friendly in letting us know of nearby places to stock up on groceries (there are two open-air markets nearby, both of which were excellent).
Location was also great with apartment only five minutes from Metro stop in the Bastille District, which in itself, is relatively central in terms of location - a lively, up and coming neighbourhood with plenty of nice places to eat, along with bars and cafes for drinks.
Anyone who wants a great based for visiting the (many) sites which Paris has to offer will not be disappointed here, and this is a perfect place to relax after a full day of exploring!
