had another lovely stay here.
The studio was lovely, warm and spotlessly clean, nice atmosphere and ideal for myself and my son who is 3 due to the small kitchen and bath. great that a supermarket is now next door and handy for both the bastille and gare de lyon metro stations.
look forward to staying here again the next time I am in paris. -

I am a female who travels alone almost exclusively. I love staying at Maison Zen whenever I visit Paris. It is clean, comfortable, quiet, and safe. Grazyna is a lovely hostess and has appointed the studios beautifully. Instead of staying in an impersonal hotel, I can live as a Parisienne when I visit, living in a neighborhood while I am there. It is a short walk away from two major Metro hubs (Bastille & Gare de Lyon) and other smaller Metro stops. Grazyna has made improvements over the years that have enhanced my stay, most recently wireless internet with a very strong signal. I highly recommend Maison Zen for your next Paris trip.

Left on 08/11/2012 for a stay in July 2012
Stayed for three days in July in Studio 3, on first floor. It is not big, but fine for short time, esp in view of the location and the value. Overlooks courtyard, plenty of fresh air, could not hear any road noise. Within metres are good value restaurants, a mini-mart, a laundrette, plus choice of two stations. Mme Perl is excellent. Security includes a combination to get off the street, and then three more keys to get to your room.

This is a great spot for those who would like to see Paris, but without the mania of the city. It's a quiet location, in a neighbourhood that is close to everything Paris has to offer, but without the tourist crowds. Grazyna Perl is an excellent host and provides clean and honest accommodations. Theres is even some beautiful artwork in the rooms. I highly recommend Maisonzen.

Ann Arbor, MIOne week in Paris, almost Parisian.
Left on 08/09/2012 for a stay in July 2012
We stayed for 8 days during a very hot July and the accomodations suited us perfectly. It was wonderful to come off the street into the courtyard like a local, then further through the green gate into the garden with koi pond, up the stairs and into the little studio. We had a chance to stay in 2 different studios, one a bit smaller than the other but both decorated with care and flare using original art. The location is very conveinent to all transportation and is within walking distance to many shops and restaurants. If we were tired and hadn't eaten or did not feel like going out again, the grocery is just next door. I also liked that we were able to walk from a major train station to Maisonzen without having to arrange further transportation upon arrival in Paris. Our hosts were most pleasant and available if needed but otherwise we really saw them very little. The only complaint was with some american guests who shouted to each other from their apartment to the courtyard early in the mornings without regard for those in the resident/guest apartments, most with open windows opening onto the courtyard. This is a lovely place to stay if you are looking for peace and quiet in the midst of Paris. It has a calm and soothing aura that envelops you and urges the same.

Toronto, ON7 days in Paris - Heaven
Left on 07/05/2012 for a stay in June 2012
This was our second stay in one of the Maison Zen apartments. The first time we were only in Paris for 3 days and didn't spend much time in the apartment, but it was the perfect little place for our stay. The 2nd time we were around for 7 days and it was absolutely wonderful. Clean, convenient, close to all amenities and close to the tourist areas and well as the latin quarters (which I highly recommend for dining). Ms Perl was extremely friendly and helpful. I think we can officially say this will be our home away from home when traveling to Paris.
Thank you for a wonderful vacation Ms. Perl!Response from Grazyna Perl - 07/06/2012

MelbourneA Paris Gem
Left on 06/26/2012 for a stay in June 2012
Maison Zen is a little gem in Paris. It is a quiet and peaceful oasis situated in an ideal location on the Rue de Lyon only a few minutes walk from the Gare de Lyon and the trendy Marais district with its' many fine restaurants. Our room was adequate with a comfortable bed, en suite bathroom and basic cooking facilities, and our windows opened onto a beautiful Japanese style garden. We only had two minor complaints: there was no decent reading light and the shower was of the hand-held variety over the bath. The water, however, was piping hot and the accommodation was spotlessly clean. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend Maison Zen as the place to stay in Paris.

Great location, right between Gare de Lyon and the Bastille. On a major street but entered through a lovely private courtyard so the street noise doesn't reach you. Small but adequate kitchen so you can eat in if you want and right next door to the Carrefour! How convenient is that?

Florianópolis - BrazilMy house at Paris (or so I dream)
Left on 03/19/2012 for a stay in January 2012
This is the place to stay in Paris! Specially if you've already been there and stayed at a hotel/hostel and want some romantic time.
My wife and I have spent 5 days in the apartment #2 in January. The room is clean, comfortable and cosy, kitchen is well equipped. Plus: 50" LCD TV and satellite, laundry machine, free Wifi, and several books, including city guides. You'll never find all these in a hotel. But there is no room service, breakfast not included, no elevator and no parking lot.
Location is very good, bus stop in front may take you to Lion or austerliz train stations, a metro line also passes nearby. About 20 minutes easy walk to Notre Dame Cathedral and The Louvre museum. There is a Carefour mini market, a pharmacy, some wine stores, bakeries and some restaurants really close, just don't expect great service at the latter.
The place is quiet, peaceful and respectful. There was an "improvement" at the garden going on during my stay which caused some noise at day time. It was not that bad because we were out at working hours anyway.
Madame Perl is very kind but not your maid and she may not be there all day long. Let her know when you'll arrive and if you need anything in advance. She speaks English, but as a general rule don't expect that from other people in France, learning some French will definitely improve your experience. Mme Perl has two beautiful husky dogs which are very calm, quiet and obedient.
It's a Zen place, so you're asked to follow some very simple rules when you check-in, basically: leave your "street" shoes in a closed cabinet downstairs and don't make too much noise.
Not recommended for: people with disabilities, if you really hate dogs or if you're a teenager/20s looking for some 'crazy' party time.Response from Grazyna Perl - 03/20/2012

Maison Zen provided excellent accommodation for my partner and I when we travelled to Paris for 10 days. We booked a studio room and found it very comfortable and tidy. Having a kitchenette was excellent and very cost effective for us (especially with the Carrefour supermarket right next door!), and a bath at the end of a long day on our feet was always welcome! Facilities and furnishings are all modern and easy to use and the rooms are bright and fresh. Due to the accommodation's location, a good night's sleep was easy to get as well, as no street noise can be heard.
Madame Perl is friendly and accommodating of any needs you have, as are the other people who live and work there.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Maison Zen and would not think twice about booking again the next time we are in Paris!Response from Grazyna Perl - 02/26/2012

From the moment we opened the gate to Maisonzen we felt the peace of the courtyard and welcome. Check-in was a breeze. Our room was well equipped, immaculate, convenient to trains, metro, dining, shopping, and comfortable. The Zen garden is lovely and we enjoyed time there each evening of our stay.

USAPeaceful apartment, so much better than a hotel
Left on 08/25/2011 for a stay in August 2011
It's always fun to stay in an apartment when traveling, both to save on food costs and to feel a bit more like a local, if even for a few days. The little apartment I rented was spotless, very comfortable, well managed, sunny and bright. I was very comfortable staying there. Madame Perl is very nice, organized, and respectful of her guests' privacy. It's on a busy street, which I felt safe walking on by myself after midnight (while keeping my eyes open, of course), near transportation links, and about a 15 minute walk from either the heart of the Marais or Notre Dame. It's not in the heart of the tourist area, which I liked, though there are lots of hotels in the neighborhood. There's a Carrefour market right next door (closed on Sundays, like lots of french markets) that is very clean and well stocked, which has a decent wine selection in addition to usual groceries. There's also a friendly little Internet cafe a couple of blocks south on Rue de Lyon if you travel without a computer. I could hear footsteps quite loudly in the apartment above me, which was the only noise of note. There was a freestanding a/C unit which I did not need, and a nice big fan. There are two very charming and quiet dogs on the property, too. Studio #1 is small, great for one person or for two people who like to be close, and has big windows out onto the very sweet interior courtyard. I'll stay there again when I visit Paris for sure.
