Takoma Park, Maryland USAThe only place to stay in Paris!
Left on 02/05/2013 for a stay in September 2011
I have stayed here several times...& can't wait to be there again. Location can't be beat (makes getting the airFrance bus to Charles De Gaulle airport so easy); every amenity, every convenience are nearby; the courtyard, entrance, studios, 1-bedroom: all beautiful, super-clean, wonderfully furnished. My 'chez moi a Paris.' And most of all, Eanjo & Stef are kind, generous, efficient & taught me so much about using the bus system, finding local places to eat, relax, and shop, and just being at home. I've stayed in a couple of the studios and in the one-bedroom. All were quiet, lovely, full of light, with guidebooks furnished, and perfect kitchen utensils to make 'eating in' easy. I guess I could go on and on...and am so eager to return.

Our group of 6 changed reservations from a hotel to mop and can't be more pleased. The ambiance was perfect. Having a small kitchen with refrigerator was convient. Location close to metro was great. The proprietor was charming, helpful and available. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was american motel sized. We packed our own coffee so could brew, mop had instant, sugar & tea.
The rooms are on the third floor and no elevator. The stairway is generous but could be a mobility challenge. We will stay here again. -

My husband and I were very pleased with everything except the climb up 3 flights of a spiral staircase to the third floor with luggage, the fact that the side of the tub was quite high, and didn't have a grab bar; the tub could have also used a mat.
The owners are lovely, very helpful, and organized -

The flat was extremely clean and perfectly furnished, with an exquisite decoration and great attention to details; the location is absolutely peaceful and at the same time it is a very strategic position, as it is within walking distance from two underground stations, Bastille and Gare de Lyon, and the bus stop is just in front. There are lots of shops, boulangeries and restaurants, and a big Carrefour supermarket just next door. The person in charge of receiving us was extremely kind, helpful and welcoming, and it was a really nice feeling throughout our stay. Myopenparis will certainly be our reference in the future whenever we will go back to Paris, and of course we will recommend it strongly to our friends, in fact we already have! Thank you so much for everything!

Krefeld, DeutschlandEin StĂĽck Zuhause in Paris!
Left on 08/29/2012 for a stay in August 2012
Daumen hoch!!! -

We could not have asked for a better location and better landlords! We arrived from Gare Lyon and walked 5 mins. to the apartments. We were greeted by Eanjo who gave us all the information we could have wanted on where to go and what to do in the Bastille area. She was so organized with the information and it was very much appreciated. The apartment had all the amenities we could want. It was spotless and even had condiments that we did not have to buy for light cooking. The courtyard was quiet and welcoming, an oasis in the city. Thank you Eanjo and Stephan for the wonderful, warm treatment. We will be back.

Left on 04/19/2012 for a stay in March 2012
My wife and I spent the month of March 2012 at My Open Paris and had a fabulous time. We love to walk and found the location ideal for everywhere we wanted to go. Eanjo has a notebook in the apartment full of information regarding local places to shop and eat, which we made much use of. We also appreciated having the transit book she provided on the local bus and metro service; we had no problem getting anywhere. The kitchen was perfect for the preparation of light meals and with all of the fresh markets in the neighborhood we ate well. Our daughter and friend came and stayed for one week in another of the My Open Paris apartments, they loved it too. We highly recommend My Open Paris for anyone who loves to walk and wants to stay a little away from the tourist crowds, "Live like a Local". Thank you Eanjo and Steph. Can we also give you credit for the perfect weather Paris had while we were there? It was incredible!

The location was fantastic between the Gare de Lyon and the Bastille - availability to transportion was great and bistro's around were good. The information provided in the room by the manager was invaluable - places to eat, see, do laundry and the metro guide was definately needed during the day. Our room was comfortable for two and we even cooked at night with ease. There is a market open next door which made purchasing ingredients very easy.

Charlotte, NC, USAGreat Option at Bargain Price
Left on 02/21/2012 for a stay in February 2012
We were very pleased with our 4-night stay at My Open Paris. Studio “E” was small, but provided plenty of room for for a short stay (see photos).
Positives: The location is near the Place de la Bastille; so it is out of the central tourist areas, but provides easy access to the Metro (Bastille station) and the RER trains (Gare Lyon station). There is a large Carrefour supermarket just outside the main gate and a pharmacy just a block away. Speaking of the gate, I would definitely rate security as another positive. You had to unlock 2 gates and 3 doors to access your apartment. The apartment was spotlessly clean. Free wifi and calls are included. There is a refrigerator and cook stove with basic kitchen utensils and glassware. And all of this is provided at a bargain rate.
Things to know: (1) Shoes are not allowed in the apartments. You are provided a shelf in the entryway to store your shoes. (2) Although the apartment was stocked with most everything you would expect in a hotel stay; bath/shower soap was not provided. (3) The apartments are not serviced during the stay. You are expected to empty the trash and remove recyclables when needed. And we were not offered fresh towels during our stay.
Overall, a great option at a bargain price. -

Nice, FranceAlways Lovely
Left on 11/27/2011 for a stay in October 2011
To me, this is always the first place I think of when I plan to stay in Paris. It's clean, calm and convenient for traveling around Paris. The place and room are quiet and lovely decorated. It does not have the feeling of luxury hotel, but a nice and warm personal place. I love the small garden. It's great to have a quiet little place after lively touring around Paris for the whole day. The place is also close to Jardin de Plantes. It's a nice place for jogging during my stay.
Another important thing to me is its convenience for both traveling and staying. It's very close to Gare de Lyon and Bastille (within 10-minutes walk). So I do not worry about the safety and how to come back when I go outside very late. Another thing is the next-door supermarket. It is very easy and economical to stay for a week.
The owner's hospitality is heart-warming. She cares the details of the stay. I love that she cares to find a very good bus map and mark the bus numbers that go to tourist's places or to make a small comprehensive guide for good restaurant around the place.
I plan to visit Paris with my parents and this is the place I like them to stay. -

We stayed in a studio apartment in a charming old building within easy walking distance of a main railway station, Gare de Lyon and buses. The apartment is clean and compact and really only suited for one or two people. There is storage, a table for meals and the computer, plus free WiiFi. The bathroom is small but adequate. The kitchen has basic items which made self-catering possible. There is an excellent supermarket next door where you can pick up most things you need. Eanjo, the owner, is very friendly and helpful and gave us tips on local restaurants, transport, shopping, a hairdresser and allowed a late check-out on our final day. 8/10

Singapore, SingaporeMy little piece of home in Paris
Left on 11/11/2011 for a stay in November 2011
My wife and myself loath staying in hotels especially in Europe where things to eat are sooo expensive hence by staying in apartments we can cook daily and have nice meals outside on selected days.
we also like to stay near locals as we will be able to experience life as a local even for a short while.
lastly we like a short term "home" to stay in and not just a room.
Eanjo & Stef are very nice host and the apartment they offered gave us a sense on being at home.
No doubt that the place is small compare to where we are residing at the moment, but it is cosy, nice and brings joy to anyone chose to stay here.
The kitchenette is functional and easy to use, we mange to cook meals here for the days we stay in Paris.
The Bedroom thou small, is very cosy and on some lazy afternoon you are able to hear one of the neighbor practicing his jazz saxophone... which is a wonderful cliche!!! the pillow are fluffy (i believe it is feathered pillow) and the quilt is clean and warm.
The living room is nicely decorated with that good Parisian feel to it... you will be constantly reminded that you are in your home in Paris
The towels are fresh, the bathroom are complete even thou it is small,it have a nice tub in it.
When you first arrive Eanjo will give you a run thru of the apartment, and a brief of living and moving around in Paris. She is a very very nice person and both she and Stef will help you with almost anything if they can.
The location is , in my humble opinion, the best!! no jam .. accessible to the metro, train station, 15 min to Gare Du Nord (by cab- paid only 8euro) buses to all the best sights, great deli's and supermarket just below... what you need u have it there.
i already miss staying there and will definitely stay there again when i am back.
and thanks for the nice choc Eanjo and Stef - you guys are Da'best!!!
lot of love

I have been to Paris 7 or 8 times and stayed in hotels. But last year I found this place on tripadvisor. This year(just came back on October 28), my daughter and I stayed here. I always want to stay at clean, quiet and reasonable place. All the reviews are really true. One thing they have not mentioned is: no elevator-- We stayed on 3rd floor and the owner helps with luggages when I checked in so there is no problems. Also, this is not a hotel so you see only 35 on the building(looks like regular building but don't worry). The owner, Eanjo, will tell you how to get into court yard then to second court yard which is coi pond garden(not so big but beautiful). Some reviews mentioned the meditation room which brought me here last year. I love it!

There are so many positives about My Open Paris. The location is ideal for just about anywhere you want to go, and very near cafes, shops, and the metro. The interior of the hotel's entrance is so peaceful and calm, which is not what I expected since the hotel is on a busy street. Our rooms, numbers 5 and 6, were well-decorated, comfortable, quiet, and clean. There were several little extra touches (well-stocked bookshelf with recent Paris travel guides, coffee press, bus schedule, wifi and more) that made the room not only comfortable but very homey. Our host Eanjo was helpful and professional, from the initial enquiry about the hotel straight on through to our departure. We also truly enjoyed getting to attend a meditation session taking place in the hotel. It was my first time and I got lots of guidance and encouragement, again, thank you to Eanjo. We will visit again!

My Open Paris was formerly part of the Maison Zen but is now a separate business at the same location. Pauline Frommer calls this place a monastery, but don’t be deterred if Buddhism is not your thing. There is a beautiful Zen meditation room on the ground floor & a lovely meditation garden, but staying at My Open Paris is like having your own apartment in a very nice, small apartment building. The proprietors are very welcoming, informative, and accommodating.
I stayed in a studio that was very clean, quiet, comfortable, & tastefully furnished. It had a small kitchen (as apparently all the rooms do) with a microwave, 2-burner stove, sink, and refrigerator. Eating out in Paris can be very expensive & time-consuming, so I was very glad to be able to cook some meals in the apartment. Cable TV with French & English-speaking channels is provided, as well as a telephone with free phone calls to all landlines worldwide. The bookshelf in the room had various Paris guidebooks, reading books, & even a French-English dictionary.
My Open Paris is quite close to 2 major metro stations & many bus stops, so it is very accessible to all of Paris. The neighborhood offers a wide variety of cafes, restaurants, bakeries, open-air markets, and several good supermarkets.
Staying at My Open Paris added so much to the joy of my stay in Paris. I highly recommend the experience! -

I stayed here with my extended family for a week - we rented 3 rooms - and everyone loved it. The rooms were very clean, modern and comfortable, and the bathrooms were spotless. The little kitchen in each room was great for quick meals or making coffee. And the location is perfect - an easy walk to many areas including the fun Bastille neighborhood, plus very convenient to several metro and bus lines. We all agreed that we'd stay here again without question!

It is with great pleasure that I spent a week in May in the house open my Paris.
Very well located between Bastille and Gare de Lyon, the house offers easy access to many transportation.
As soon as we entered the garden with a Zen atmosphere, we felt immediately at home.
Our apartment was located on the 2nd floor in a charming building of the early 19th.
Overlooking the garden, the studio is equipped with two six beds, a fully equipped kitchenette, air conditioning and a bathroom.
Cleanliness was impeccable!
In addition, the decor is sleek and warm at the same time.
We've been shopping in a market open to enjoy vegetables and fruits.
On the way back, we ordered in a small pizzeria with excellent value for money.
We were able to stroll the promenade planted almost in front, perched on brick arches.
And also thanks to all this valuable advice for my own open Paris, Eanjo and Stef, very friendly to boot. They gave us very useful information on the markets, shops, bus to take and some good restaurants in the area. They even made a brief guide to the area, available in the studio!
After a busy day of our visit in Paris just as beautiful, we have resources in our little haven.
Left with a lot of good memories, we can not wait to return!

Koloa, Hawai'i, USAWonderful place - our 2nd time there!
Left on 10/07/2011 for a stay in September 2011
We recently stayed in Flat #4 at this wonderful location. We first stayed there last year for 2 weeks on our first visit to Paris and enjoyed it so much that we came back this year for another 2 weeks.
The location is fantastic, you are just off the busy rue de Lyon, but miles away in terms of quiet and calm. You have only a very short walk to the Metro or train and the area is wonderful as well - a large Carrefour supermarket right next door to grab supplies before you go "home" for the day - and closeby many outdoor markets, cinemas, and the beautiful Promenade Plantee.
Once you step thru the green courtyard doors you are immediately in a lovely Zen garden of calm. The entranceway has little cubbyholes for you to put your shoes and the beautiful curving staircase leads you upwards to your flat. I loved to think of all the people over so many years climbing those historic stairs.
Mme. Eanjou and her husband are wonderful hosts. They make sure you have everything you need without being intrusive and after 2 visits with them, we consider them "friends" as well. Wifi, TV, wonderfully comfortable beds, a kitchenette, a sitting area, lovely big windows that look out to the peaceful courtyard - and a big bathroom with a lovely soaking tub that I always enjoy after a long day of walking the streets of Paris.
I felt immediately "at home" here and never thought twice about where I would stay on our 2nd visit to Paris - it was obvious!
We are looking forward to another trip next year and I know we will be coming "home" to this wonderful spot - it just is perfect in all ways!
If you enjoy "living like a local" in a lovely, historic building in a great area of Paris - but with such a quiet atmosphere - you will love this place - I just can't say enough good things about it!

Charlton AdamAn oasis of calm in the bustle of Paris
Left on 09/21/2011 for a stay in August 2011
If you want to have a home from home, and your own space, then this is the place for you. It's not a hotel, so eating out or self-catering is the thing to do.
Because it's a Buddhist meditation centre, the whole place exudes calm and tranquillity. The only rule you have to observe is that of taking your shoes off in the house. Your feet can breathe! Though the house is non-smoking, you can smoke in the garden.
Amenities
I stayed in Madame Eanjo's room 3. It has a sitting room, with kitchenette, bathroom/toilet, and bedroom.
In the room you will find a comprehensive guide for your stay, including loads of restaurants. I was shown round by Madame Eanjo's husband, who explained the pros and cons of each restaurant, and was very welcoming and nice.
Room 3 is converted out of the one room, but it's cosy, comfortable, clean and light. There are two big windows in the sitting room, overlooking a typical Parisian courtyard.
From them you can look down on the lush Zen garden in the courtyard.
It's got everything you need if you want to cook at home, and the bed is very comfortable. I slept like a log.
Calls to the UK and France from the landlines are free, which is a big plus.
There are more TV channels than you can shake a stick at.
Location
Off main street Rue de Lyone, which leads to the Gare de l'Est.
Once inside, you hear no traffic noise, which is another plus.
And you're near many major bus routes, and the Metro.
Buses are nicer for getting around than the metro: you see so much more. You can borrow a bus timetable from the room (but remember to return it!)
Notre Dame etc is within walking distance -20-30 mins.
There's a supermarket right next door, with a great selection of everything.
The thing I liked best was the quiet, and stepping off a busy street into another world. I meditated a few times in the garden, which was a very serene experience. There isn't a single thing I didn't like.
Try it out.
