Description from the owner
'One High Street' is a charming, cosy, two bedroomed cottage conveniently situated in the heart of the Peak District in beautiful village of Tideswell. It’s a handy and compact hideaway with walks, rides, shops, pubs, and eateries on the doorstep. Tideswell is a great base from which to explore the beautiful Peak District National Park, with the Monsal Trail, Buxton, Bakewell, and Chatsworth all within easy reach.
The cottage dates from the 18th century but is tastefully modernised retaining its period character with a contemporary and unfussy feel.

Additional Location Information
Tideswell is a large, pretty village in the heart of the Derbyshire Peak District. The surrounding countryside is spectacular and is a delight for walkers, cyclists, and outdoor activities generally. There are many historic destinations to visit and tourist attractions that cater for active and more relaxing pursuits. The village itself is home to the Tideswell School of Food, which runs great cookery and brewing courses, and the famous "Cathederal of the Peak".
'One High Street' is, as its name implies, in the heart of the village but the main shopping Street is just around the corner, with an artisan Baker, Butcher, Greengrocer as well as a convenience store open until 10pm, pharmacy, dairy shop and even an ATM. There are two Fish and Chip shops close by and 3 pubs within easy walking distance with 3 others within a couple of miles. The cottage is, like many older properties in Tideswell, a terraced house that fronts directly onto the pavement and doesn't have private parking, but you can park outside to load and unload, and free on-street parking is just 20 meters away. Tideswell is very well served with public transport, with buses to Buxton, Chesterfield, and Sheffield.

We have just returned from a relaxing break in Tideswell. Stayed No 1 High Street, a lovely cottage conveniently close to the centre of Tideswell. Chose this one as it is off the main road and quiet. Local shops including traditional bakers within a couple of minutes of the front door. Good pubs and café in the village. The cottage is just as described with everything you could want, clean and very well equipped. Great to have wi-fi. Loads to do locally, spent the weekend walking and biking. Will be back soon to try out the Tideswell Cookery School… think it was on telly ..would be a good weekend treat. Have a look at www.tastetideswell.co.uk Overall a great place to stay, peaceful and easy to get to with everything you need for a holiday.

2nd time at this cottage, and again we found it very clean, warm and comfy (bed very good). booked it very last minute with Tim.
Arrived Xmas eve and had a great 3 night stay. Brought our turkey and all the trimmings with us and enjoyed it.
Walked to our favourate pub (Red Lion Litton) on xmas day lunchtime, really friendly new owners.
The cottage has all you will need, warm enough even in the coldest weather.
We will no doubt return soon.
Parking is a bit hit and miss as to how close you can park to the cottage, but it is not a problem, You can unload outside the cottage.
There are great walks, and scenery on the door step.
Garden to the rear is up some quite steep steps but has views over the roof tops. -

We have stayed at this cottage twice now and cannot praise it enough. We booked through the owners own website. Its perfect for a couple or for three people to stay quite comfortably. Immaculate throughout with quality furnshings. Lots of thought has gone into to providing the little things often forgotten. Tideswell itself is beautiful with everything on hand you need, lots of lovely shops providing local produce, youre spoilt for choice. A beautiful area to explore. We could not finish this review without mentioning the houskeeper Teresa who is a lovely lady and gave us a lovely warm welciome and all the info we needed for our stay. We will definitley book again later in the year.
