Description from the owner
On a landscaped knoll overlooking the charming village of Tronadora and Lake Arenal, our updated 3 bedroom, 1 bath Tico home offers a great way to sample both Costa Rican village life and the many attractions of the Guanacaste region. Tronadora offers a clean, safe, small town atmosphere with a well stocked market, bakery and dining spots. Numerous walks or drives along the shore or into the hills offer beautiful vistas of the lake, the volcanoes and the lush green landscape. Additional Location Information
The house is on a knoll at the edge of the charming village of Tronadora, with woods and farmland to the rear and in front, views of Lake Arenal and the northern volcanos. It's a 5-minute walk to the well-stocked village market and light dining and a 5-minute drive to the area's best restaurant and the scenic Lake Drive. Frequent bus service runs from Tronadora to Tilaran and from there, to all of Costa Rica. Our neighbors are a mix of Tico and ex-pat , along with some cows and of course, the birds.
Right in the neighborhood is La Reserva, a private preserve and wildlife corridor where Roberta gives a wonderfully informative tour. Rafting is close by at Corobici (near Canas) or in the La Fortuna area, both within an hour. Recommended day trips include the Arenal Park and Observatory, Rincon de la Vieja National Park, the Monteverde cloud forest area, Rio Celeste and Volcan Tenorio parks, and a wide variety of Pacific coast beaches. Hot springs in the La Fortuna area include the renowned Tabacon, Baldi, and a more economical favorite, Eco Termales. Or, kick up your feet, grab a beverage and enjoy the view from the veranda. And, though it may sound hard to believe, we've spent many a pleasant evening on the veranda in all seasons without any thought of bug repellant. Go figure...
