Description from the owner
Black Walnut Point Inn – A Secret Place of Peace.
Just 20 minutes past St. Michaels on 58-acres of bird sanctuary, Black Walnut Point offers peace and quiet with unobstructed water views in every direction. The private estate was once sealed off by Russian spies, hosted the CIA, and the First Gulf War was planned in the sunroom. Built in 1845, the charm of hand-hewn black walnut beams, broad hardwood floors, and welcoming crystal pineapple chandelier are hallmarks. Three luxury cabins line the east bulkhead 20 feet from the broad mouth of the Choptank River, and the pool and great lawn feature some of the most spectacular views found...Read more

Lawton, miAnniversary Trip
Left on 08/26/2012 for a stay in July 2012
After a very rocky and delayed start to our anniversary trip we arrived at 5am to Black Walnut Point Inn. I stayed awake to watch the sunrise and it was worth it. So peaceful and relaxing on the dock. We got checked in at breakfast and everyone was so amazing! Staff and guests. We enjoyed walking around the grounds and sitting on the dock watching the crab and sting rays...not to mention the sea nettles. I splurged on a cabin and am so glad I did. It was worth every penny! I hope to visit again for more than just a weekend! Bob, Tracy and staff are friendly, funny and wonderful!

My now husband and I first visited the Inn last summer when he proposed to me. We lounged by the pool that day he asked that we have an outdoor wedding and promptly feel asleep in the sun. Well, there's the cross, the Bay - what a backdrop. We had the most beautiful wedding ever this year. Bob & Tracy were awesome. Peggy and Virginia as well. I wouldn't do anything different. We are looking forward to celebrating many anniversaries at the Inn. We just don't know which room or cabin to chose from. Every cabin and room has breathtaking views. Peggy's breakfasts are delicious as well as charmed with Peggy's hospitality. The island has several restaurants to chose from just a few miles down the road. We rode our bikes to dinner that first weekend. If you want a relaxing time away from the congestion and madness of the world this should be on your bucket list!

Toms River, NJ25 Wedding anniversary
Left on 08/08/2011 for a stay in June 2011
We went to the Black Walnut for our 25 wedding anniversary. We stayed in the attic room. The attice room was perfect for us it was very quaint.
At first I was unsure how much we would enjoy ourselves as it is far from town and I thought we could walk there for dinners. Well it turned out being so far was the best part of being there, it was sooo beautiful and peaceful. We would go into town and not be able to wait to go back to the Inn. You did not hear anything, you forgot everything, your mind is truly relaxed. Bob and Tracy are the greatest hosts. Miss Peggy made awesome breakfast. I did see the inside of the cabins and they were really nice as well. We will be back. -

If you are looking for great beauty, peace, and a friendly welcome, this is your place. Surrounded on three sides by water, the Black Walnut Point Inn is a perfect place to re-charge, to bike, to feel like you are "away from it all" while connecting with what really matters, your own center. Bob and Tracy are the perfect charming and helpful hosts. Go.

I found this amazing location by chance on Google Maps. After reviewing the website, one single thing caught my attention. More than the beauty of the photos, more than the reasonable pricing, it was the simple paragraph on the website regarding the feeling that Bob and Tracy have regarding the peaceful sanctuary of the Inn and the accomodations they will make for someone who's truthfully in need. These are the type of people that I definately want to be associated with and give my business.
Upon arrival, we met Bob in the office. What a character! He has a flair for his job, and was very informative. It was as if we'd known him for years. I will say this, Bob, if you're reading this, you are a great cook, but... I think Ms. Peggy might be just a bit better.
Speaking of breakfast, don't miss out on Ms. Peggy's pecan filled pancakes. Bob has french toast down to a science, so either will do just fine.
We stayed in the Pine tree cabin, closest to the water. The sound of the waves on the rocks will bring you the best night's sleep you've ever had. The cabins are very private, and comfortable. If price is a problem, stay in the main house. It's gorgeous inside, and offers very reasonable rates.
Once there, if the weather is nice, go outside and walk the property. Slip into one of the hammocks that are strategically placed for maximum relaxation. I recommend an afternoon nap in the one on the Chesapeake side, closest to the point.
Bob and Tracy compliment each other very well, and are perfectly suited for this place. That list of places you must experience before you die? Make sure you add this to the top of your list. You won't regret it!!
