This fantastic 1920's Waterman's cottage has the charm and waterfront location that is hard to come by these days. Restored to give you some up to date comforts, such as new kitchen, added bedroom and renovated bath, this is a great spot to enjoy hours of baywatching, or slip over to Dogwood Harbor and observe one of the last skipjack fleets in the country. Pick up some fresh seafood and have savor a local meal at home with the best seat in the house! A great cottage for those who still appreciate the simple things.

My husband, our dog and I enjoyed a Thanksiving long weekend getaway at Simplicity Cottage. The property was an impeccable condition and looked exactly like the photos we had seen. The view of the bay was so relaxing, we loved watching the wildlife and even saw a bald eagle on one of the piers one day. A great property any time of the year.

HORRIBLE! We were invaded by mice. Everything had to be washed and wiped down each day. They were on counters and in cabinets. Mice feces everywhere in the house when we arrived and each day.

The windows were unlocked when we arrived.
There was blonde dog hair on the sofa pillows and sofa.
The outside landscaping around the house really needs to be trimmed. -

Very Nice location. If you like water sports it is an excellent place. I could recommend to bring a bug/fly spray, after a rain there was a lot of them.

My wife and I were looking for a small cottage for getting away and enjoying some down time. We found Simplicity and decided this looked like the right place. We were right. We enjoyed sunrise views over the water during breakfast and grilled dinners on the picnic table under the tree by the water. It's only 30 minutes from St. Michaels so we were able to make a quick trip for an afternoon excursion.

What made this stay so pleasant was the ambiance of the property and the peace and quiet we experienced. If this is what you are looking for, this is the place for you. St. Michaels and Easton are but a short drive away and very nice walking towns.
I highly recommend Simplicity Cottage as well as the professionalism of Eastern Shore Rentals. -

This cottage is perfect for a small family or group of friends. Just a note about the dogs- there are 3 dogs on the road that are off the leash dogs which is wonderful but just something to be mindful of if you have a dog that a. doesn't do well with other dogs or b. would run off with these dogs. the dogs and neighbors are both friendly and sweet but just something important to note!

This was our second stay at Simplicity. It is a wonderful peaceful and quiet. The cottage is the perfect size for our family of four and our small dog. The cottage is well equipped and comfortable.
I would just mention two small details...the upstairs bath towel bar kept coming off the wall. Also, the spring bar in the upstairs closet needs to be replaced.
These minor problems can easily be remedied.
We found exactly what we needed at Simplicity and would love to visit again!! -

Simplicity Cottage was a wonderful vacation rental in a perfect, private, waterfront spot on the Eastern Shore. The house had everything we needed to be comfortable, was recently remodeled with a stunning layout, and the kitchen was well supplied for cooking. Unfortunately, one of the pillow cases was dirty with a good amount of makeup on the made bed, but since there were laundry ammenities, it wasn't a big problem, just more of an annoyance.
While we loved the house, the property management company could have done a better job communicating with us prior to the rental period. We were due to arrive on a Saturday, and received a call late Friday afternoon that our keys would be left for us to pick up at a place where only part of the name was given, with no address or phone number to contact them. We were told if we had any questions, to call the property management company, but they were closing for the weekend shortly after leaving us the voicemail, leaving no time for questions to be answered prior to our visit. Considering they are used to weekend renters for whom they need to supply keys, a little advance notice by phone or email to convey instructions to three day guests would have been nice! We assumed we'd be picking up the keys from them and going over any questions in person on Saturday...
Overall, we loved the cottage and experience, and found it the perfect retreat to enjoy a few days of my husband's R&R; from Afghanistan together with our dog, and without any outside distractions. We look forward to returning together in the future. -

Our stay at Simplicity was the most relaxing vacation we ever had. The cottage was very cute and the view of the sun rise from inside was breathtaking. Sitting outside by the water was extremely quiet and relaxing. I recommend this cottage to anyone seeking peace and quiet.

The only drawback to the cottage was the long distance between Tilghman Island and the nearest town (St. Michaels). It was superb for its isolation and Dogwood Bay views. That's the 'river' side to the locals, but it was no different than any other bay to the rest of the world. Lots of excellent dining and sufficient groceries and tackle for most needs within 2 miles of the property. Excellent location for those desiring biking and boating including waterskiing. Might be OK for 2 couples but this is best for a single family of 2-4 people. Faces east so excellent sunrise views but sunset is over the trees. Sunset over the Chesapeake would be a short drive. Loved it, planning to return for our next eastern shore escape.

What a peaceful, relaxing, stress free getaway! Our second stay. Lovely view, accommadations. Only suggestion is screen doors for front and side door. Keep flies out & when nice weather can open windows for a lovely breeze. Staff at Eastern Vac Rentals are always helpful!!

On this, our first visit to the Eastern Shore I wanted a place which would make it possible to feel in touch with the original lifestyle of this region. This rental was perfect for this purpose-it is a well renovated,air conditioned, charming cottage- absolutely no sacrifice in terms of aesthetics or comfort -yet it avoids the more fancy and gentrified aspects of St. Michael's. The open space around the cottage is beautiful, one of the best restaurants in the region is up the road so there is very little to complain about- I would rearrange one or two kitchen cabinets and there were three excessive flies-that's it...

Simplicity at its finest. Enjoyed waking to the sunrise over the water and seeing the watermen crabbing. Then the moon over the water at night. Great biking, walking and running. Great food and fun at Tilghman Island Inn. The Bridge Restaurant was terrific -- great service excellent food - Smith Island cake out of this world. Good breakfast at Two If By Sea.

What a view--what a lovely renovation. We crabbed, kayacked, fished, went boating,grilled & napped in the hammock and sat out under the stars. The owner thought of EVERYTHING in the kitchen and was generous in allowing us to use all the amenities you always pay extra for. We couldn't have been more pleased. All we really desired was to see pics of the original cottage and know the history! We hope to return!

The owner may consider getting a phone where you can cut the ringer off. The phone rang all hours of the day and night; we eventually shoved them in the couch cushions. Its the smallest of things -- and did not dampen our stay. I look forward to returning.

We were told to bring dish detergent, toilet paper, garbage bags etc. Pleasantly surprised that most things that are a part of the daily needs of a kitchen and bathroom were provided. The renters need to be informed that they don't need to bring a lot of unnecessary "stuff". I wish "Simplicity" cottage was on the list of the 25 % discount list for the off season rentals ! ! : o (
