Getting around

Its best to bring your own car or cycle as public transport is not ideal in our rural area. Nearest bus stops are approx 1.5 miles.

Interaction with guest

We used to welcome every arriving party personally to show you anything you needed to know and then left you to enjoy. However we have found that some people prefer to let themselves in so now its entirely up to you. We will gladly be there- or not. Just let us know your preference. We do come regularly to service the hot tub but we are discreet and you will probably not see us. If you need us we are available throughout your stay- just e mail. Every booking receives a very comprehensive digital guide book/app which is bursting with things to do and see!

Response from the owner How to answer this? This review was rather amazing to us as we met and chatted pleasantly to these guests while swopping linen for their second week and none of this was mentioned . The one genuine issue was the heating as a part failed in week two but they were provided with plug in heaters and free woodburner fuel till it was professionally fixed 2 days later. Nonsense about the thermostats as every radiator in every room has a thermostatic valve for guest use . The guests only saw the central control because of the professional fix and have misunderstood that it is set not to a max temp but to a MINIMUM temperature so everyone is always warm unless they use the valves to reduce the heat in a room. On arrival there had been an unusual request for special scales to weigh the dogs food. We provided these and new batteries for them within the hour and as the guests were then out placed them on the table just inside the kitchen door.We didn’t even need to step inside and it was the one and only time we entered the property. We thought this was helpful since they had requested the scales .There was no complaint ( or thanks) when we saw the guests while taking the linen, but after the stay vitriolic e mails stated we should have left them in the garden as somehow meeting the special request for dog food scales had invaded privacy. Certainly the hot tub would have to be checked daily if in use, this is a standard safety measure everywhere, however these guests had told us they would not require it so it was not in use and we were therefore not attending to it at all let alone as stated. The rest of this is also impossible to believe as surely if correct would have been raised when they arrived and asked for the scales rather than sending a torrent of new complaints and abusive messages weeks afterwards. We always want people to love their stay and come again but…..

Response from the owner We are really sorry and a little suprised to hear these things. We were aware thar the WiFi failed. We had to complain repeatedly to British Telecom and it took them over a week to fix the problem on their line. We did immediately refund the WiFi charge and apologise to the guests but despite daily chasing we could not get a faster repair. This was out of our control unfortunately. We have not had any issues before or since with the large new tumble drier and no difficulty was reported to us at the time. We do have a spare one had we heard about any problem. Happily, and as our guest says, the weather was good and we do have a rotary washing line plus an indoor drying rack with heating panel in our laundry room. These guests were with us in early June. At that time of the year our included central heating is set to come on if the temperature indoors falls below 20C from 6 30 am to 10 am, 19C all day and then 20 again from 5pm to 11pm. We have a woodburner for use by guests if this is not enough as everyones tastes in heat do vary so greatly. We are readily available to our guests as we see to the hot tub on a daily basis and in this case chatted with the guests on arrival and several times during their stay but sadly none of this apart from the WiFi matter and some minor damage by the guests was reported to us. We would have tried to help had we known.
