Loved our stay at the "Day away Cottage"!

Left on 05/16/2013 for a stay in March 2013

For spring break, my two boys and I stayed at the Day away Cottage. My kids attended the Kennedy Space Center Camp and I had a delightful time working, reading, watching movies and just enjoying some time to myself! The cottage is perfect. The kitchen is well equipped - we cooked every meal as one of my sons has severe food allergies. The kids had a great time playing with Bentley, the adorable terrier that"owns" the property. The owners are wonderful and went out of their way to make our stay easy. It is located in a very quiet neighborhood. Several grocery stores are within a short drive. The washer and dryer were used every day. My kids already want to go back next year. Can't recommend this place highly enough!!

      An isolated piece of heaven...

Left on 04/17/2013 for a stay in April 2013

Ahhh! is probably the best single word to discribe my stay in Florida. This lovely little home accompanied by the outstanding warmth and engaging conversation of Elizabeth and Michael (owners), Catherine (world's most adorable mother-in-law), Bentley (cutest dog on the East coast besides mine) and Maggie (the friendly fuzzy cat) was exactly what was needed for one of the most enjoyable vacations I have experienced in my adult life. Approx. 7miles (11km) from Chez Elizabeth is Playalinda Beach in the Canaveral National Seashore. It is without a doubt one of the most pristine, isolated pieces of heaven I have ever come across. Beach 1-12 are for all, however, be forewarned Beach 13 is clothing optional, which pretty much means everyone (the 7 people I encountered) are nude. A great experience if you can muster the courage. ...wear sunscreen. Ouch!

Titusville is on the "Space Coast", if you will and suffered financially (and emotionally) with the breakdown of that said program. It is not a "night life" town in any way what-so-ever and is a town from the "south" if that is understood correctly. However, everyone was exceptioinally friendly and accommodating. Two noteables: Quillen's Taco Shack on Garden St. and Sunrise Bread Company (for their outstanding espresso) must be visited.

Approx. 35mins up the coast is St. Augustine; one of the oldest cities in North american (circa 1513) and has been restored to its meticulous originality. Expect to see lots of tourists, however, well worth the drive.

Orlando (52min) has Disney, of course, but also Winter Park! Yumm...the Beverly Hills of Florida, if you will. A multitude of shops, restos and wonderfully attractive homes/people to capture your attention. Another must stop.

The last piece of advice I would give is spend the extra cash and (if you are renting a vehicle) get a convertable! I rented a Jeep and could not have imagined driving in the sunshine with a closed roof.

Book, go and fall in love.

Just can't be beat! As mentioned not tooooo many people! ...lol

A cozy and welcoming home away from home.

Left on 03/20/2013 for a stay in March 2013

We stayed here the first and second week of March. The cottage was absolutely charming. Set on a beautiful piece of property adjacent to an early 1920's plantation home. The owners, Elizabeth and Mike, were very pleasant and accommodating, as was the entire Day away staff. We appreciate everything Daisy did to make our stay comfortable too.
We appreciate them allowing us to park our motorcycle on the property and were invited to enjoy the yard, fire pit and porches as much as we liked.
The cottage itself was well stocked and comfortable. It was a plus having a laundry room on site.

The area was great for sightseeing and the kayak trip we took was great.
We enjoyed walking at the Chain of Lakes park just a couple of minutes from the cottage.
Orlando, Cocoa Beach, and Daytona are all just a short drive away so there is plenty to see and do in the area.
The only thing missing was a hot tub to soak our weary bones after riding all day.
We would definitely recommend this cottage as a great getaway.

A cozy home away from home!

Left on 03/04/2013 for a stay in February 2013

Our family just returned from a week's stay at this adorable cottage. I was surprised to find that the cottage was even more spacious than it looked in the photos. We found it clean, cozy, and very comfortable for the 4 of us. Our two teenage daughters shared the loft and my husband and I opened up the futon each evening. There was plenty of space for us all. The kitchen provided everything we needed to have in-house breakfasts, lunches, and dinners. Mike and Elisabeth and their whole family and crew were very friendly, helpful, and accommodating. They even opened up their yard to us to relax as we chose.
We were located very close to Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge (only about 10 minutes away), Playalinda Beach (only about 20 minutes away), and about an hour's drive to the attractions in Orlando and surrounding area.
You won't be disappointed in a decision to stay here!

      Perfect Getaway!

Left on 11/01/2012 for a stay in October 2012

My husband & I headed out to Titusville after a week-long seminar in Orlando, hoping for some much-needed R&R.; Hurricane Sandy came at the start of our stay, but went away just in time to let us enjoy the area, the property, and of course, some kayaking.

The cottage is fully-stocked - don't let the term "cottage" fool you. Full kitchen (stove, microwave, oven, coffee pot & fridge). Washer & Dryer with extra blankets for when you get cold. Loft bedroom has plenty of outlets for you to charge your phones bedside. Futon-couch also folds down if you have a little one/two coming with you. Roku system was perfect for our viewing needs (we didn't finish the movie we watched on the plane coming in so we were able to pick back up where we left off). Full bathroom with towels provided. Outdoor shower (amazing!) for when you come back from the beach or need to rinse anything off.

The property is beyond gorgeous. The japanese word, "komorebi," (sunlight filtering through trees) best describes the serenity of the property. Lush greens & vegetation take you away to somewhere you can relax, and just breath in all the joyous wonders around you.

The owners & ADa staff are fabulous - helpful, accommodating and so friendly. They were definitely a big player in our stay, making sure we were comfortable & taken-cared of from beginning to end. Oh, and Bentley (cute little lap dog) sure made us miss our guys back home, so we were happy that he was such a friendly neighbor to have as well!
