Absolutely an amazing cottage- very peaceful and quiet.

Left on 09/20/2012 for a stay in July 2012

We had a terrific week at this great cottage. It has every amenity that you could need. Very clean and organized on a quiet part of Lake Huron. Rocky beach, so swim shoes or sandals are a must. Bright and airy with loads of games and books if you can tear yourself away from the water. Loved reading in the hammock. We will come again!

      Peaceful

Left on 06/28/2012 for a stay in May 2012

The service was great. The home was very nice, very clean, cozy and comfortable. Everything we needed was available including a washer and dryer. Beautiful location and the view of the water was amazing. Great for walks and watching the wildlife - rabbits, red squirrels, chipmunks, loons and yes a black bear (what an amazing creature). The home was close to Tobermory and hiking trails and the Visitor's Centre. We had a wonderful time and would definitely rent the home again but we completely fell in love with the Bruce Peninsula when we visited in 2011 and are planning to move up there in the fall of 2012.

Cottage was exactly as depicted on the website and very clean (no surprises). Everything worked fine inside and property was well kept and clean.
Nice deck overlooking the water, lovely breeze every day and beautiful sunsets every night.
Would definitely stay here again and would recommend cottage to family and friends.

Beautiful cottage in a breathtaking location

Left on 08/17/2010 for a stay in June 2010

The cottage was beyond our expectations. We were thrilled with the breathtaking view of the lake and the great location. The cottage itself is beautifully decorated and very well maintained. It is obvious that the owners take great pride in their cottage. We are looking forward to building more great memories at avalon on the Bruce.

      Serenity on the lake

Left on 08/12/2010 for a stay in May 2010

This was our first cottage stay in Canada, and our first time on the Bruce. In an extensive search we picked Avalon as the best looking place - modern and smart, clean and bright, yet full of charm rather than sterile and soulless - and we booked it for a long weekend. We were not let down - it was even better than it looked on the web, and perfect for our needs. Easily big enough for four adults, without getting in each others' way, cared for and well fitted out - as though you are in your own comfortable home, or that of friends who like their weekend escape to feel as comfortable as their city house, which is certainly how we felt - and very clean. And the location! A fabulous view to the lake, with sunrise every day through the bedroom's french doors, and a large, secluded deck and semi-private shoreline that makes it feel like the neighbours (who are nearby but were very quiet) are miles away.

We loved Avalon and will be going back again soon. We think it's just not worth trying anything else to see if we can find something better.

      A little disappointing

Left on 08/04/2010 for a stay in June 2010

Having rented this cottage in the past we were surprised to find the mattress in the master bedroom so hard and uncomfortable. We had to eventually sleep in another room as we had so much back pain we could not sleep. We would definitly rent this cottage again if the mattress were changed to a more inviting one.

      Perfectly Comfortable!

Left on 08/03/2010 for a stay in July 2010

This cottage was exactly what we needed! Everything you could think of or needed was provided. It was clean, attractive and the open concept with the view of the lake was perfect. Our elderly mother was delighted with how easy it was to move through out the cottage with her walker. A great family cottage. We will definitely return.

      Great honeymoon

Left on 11/05/2009 for a stay in September 2009

The home was beautiful with a gorgeous view of the lake and amenities were great, the location was wonderfully private for most of our stay. The owner was nice enough to call and check in on us on day two of our stay and ensure that everything was working okay for us - very sweet.

The 10am checkout time is the real killer. It means you either have to clean the place on the Friday night (not our first choice) or get up killer early on the morning of your checkout (in our case, the last day of our honeymoon) in order to clean the entire home. A later check out time would mean less stress for everyone.

      Great week!

Left on 07/28/2009 for a stay in July 2009

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cottage. The Cottage was nice and clean when we arrived, we were able to unpack and relax right away. The cottage itself is beautiful. It has a great open concept and a nice deck looking out over Lake Huron. The only downfall to the cottage is that the waterfront is very rocky and it would be very difficult to swim. That being said there is a great beach very near by and there is so much to do in the area we were out most days any way. We plan to book the cottage again next summer.

      Beautiful cottage

Left on 07/23/2009 for a stay in June 2009

We have stayed at several cottages in the area over a number of years but we have never found one as nice as Avalon on the Bruce. A beautiful location, and a gorgeous cottage with outstanding amenities. The owners must be very proud to own a cottage such as this, it would make a delightful permament home.
      We will stay there again.
The only problem was a red squirrel who kept trying to get into the outside dryer vent, a cute little varmint !!

      Fabulous place!

Left on 02/05/2009 for a stay in June 2008

This is a fantastic place to stay. We went just before the height of the season and it was so serene and calming. The floors are heated, there's windows everywhere to greenery and water. Everything you could possibly need is there including laundry (a must for us with kids!) and it's very warm and inviting. I would recommend this cottage to anyone and everyone.

We really enjoyed our stay at Avalon on the Bruce. The cottage was perfect. The kids shared the twin bedroom, which was quite spacious. Having two three piece bathrooms was a great bonus, also having laundry
room facilities. The cottage was easy to keep clean (good choice of flooring) and we
loved being able to bring our 4year old Lab
with us.The area was very private except for one instance where the neighbouring renters kids were throwing rocks at some ducks which had landed and I had to step in and yell at them as Mother was not to be seen.We will definitely rent this property again some time.
My family gave it great reviews.

      Gorgeous home

Left on 01/23/2009 for a stay in July 2007

In July 2007 we stayed in Avalon on the beach for a week. My sister and her son from Holland were in Canada for a vacation and we all had a wonderful time. The cottage is spacious and very well equipped. The setting is gorgeous. Our dog had the time of his life running in and out of the water. We especially enjoyed the beautiful sunsets at the beach and our campfires! Even though the beach is rocky, our daughters loved swimming in the lake.

We had a lovely 1 week stay in the middle of the Canadian winter. Daily snowshoeing trips nearby with lots of animal sightings - the highlight was spotting a grey wolf from the living room! Great star gazing and abundant peace and serenity.
