Cottage Profile Airy four bedroom, open concept waterfront cottage located on Cameron Lake near the picturesque village of Tobermory in the heart of the Bruce Peninsula National Park. The cottage is situated on top of a small knoll which provides a panoramic view of Cameron Lake. The unique design of the cottage takes full advantage of its location. The majority of the living area of the cottage is located on the second floor. This area has an open concept design featuring a wall of glass from the floor to ceiling that provides an uninhibited view of the natural outdoors from wherever you are sitting. The living room contains a couch, two com...fortable chairs, wood stove, cathedral ceilings and stereo system. There is a sound system for CD and radio, with an iPod connection. Also in this area is a harvest table with seating for all six in your group. Next to the living room is the kitchen which comes equipped with a fridge, electric stove with oven, microwave and adequate counter and cupboard space. Sliding glass doors lead from the main living area to an exterior deck that extends the entire width of the cottage. This deck contains two sitting areas; one directly in front of the cottage complete with two Muskoka chairs, and a second, larger area containing more space for seating. For those who are looking for a place to get out of the sun, there is also a shade deck located on the ground level that has been enlarged (2011) that has a separate seating area with a clear view of the lake. There are four bedrooms at the cottage. The large master bedroom has a king size bed, sliding glass doors and a door to the four piece bathroom. The second bedroom on the upper floor has a double bed and a set of single bunk beds. There are two bedrooms on the ground floor which have had new flooring and windows installed and also have been insulated to help keep it cool and dry (2011). One room has a new queen size bed (2011), sink cabinet with hot and cold water and a separate enterance. The other room also has a new queen size bed (2011) and also retains a set of bunkbeds. The property steps down to the lake in a series of small plateaus by way of new wooden stairs and railings built in 2011. Steps lead down from the parking area to a small grassy area containing a picnic table. Another set of stairs lead from the front of the cottage down to a seperate flat area containing a fire pit. This is a great area to have an evening fire under the stars. The next set of stairs leads down to the water's edge where you will find a newly constructed dock. This dock is 25 feet long with an 8 by 16 ft sitting area at the end. At this sitting area you'll find a bench so you can sit and enjoy the view, as well as a canopy that provides shade so you can still enjoy a cool breeze off the water on a hot summer day. There is a ladder and swim raft as well, for jumping into the water. The shoreline at the cottage has a shallow entry, and provides access to good swimming. The best thing about swimming in the clear waters of Cameron Lake is that the water temperature is not influenced by the frigid undercurrents from the Great Lakes and Georgian Bay. From the shore or from the dock platform you can supervise the kids playing in the water or jumping off the swim raft, or you can take your morning coffee out to watch the beautiful sunrises over the lake. There is a hiking trail that leads you from the cottage to the Grotto on Georgian Bay in the National Park. It is a one hour hike in (please note this hike is not suitable for the young or the elderly). This way you don't have to worry about parking at the Park entrance. A canoe and three kayaks are also available to allow you to explore the serene lake area and there is a fishing boat with oars for bass and pickerel enthusiasts. You can paddle through to Cyprus Lake, part of the National Park (depending on water levels), or just stay on quiet Cameron Lake. The village of Tobermory offers plenty of shops and stores for those who like to wander. You can dine at any of the pubs and/or restaurants, or perhaps purchase some sweets from the famous Sweet Shop.

  This was our first stay at Cameron View cottage and we absolutely loved it. The setting is perfect and the cottage is set up with all that you will need for a relaxing getaway. We loved that there was no TV as it gave us all the chance to read and play games. All the beds were comfortable. There were lots of outdoor spots to settle in and relax, of course enjoying the view of Cameron Lake. The area has so much to offer that it is a tough choice of whether to stay at the cottage and relax or go off exploring. We did both.

  Beautiful lake but no relief from the heat

  We spent a week there. The cottage was lovely. However it definitely needs more efficient fans or a/C. The sun beats right into the cottage leaving no relief at all from the heat night or day. It needs some repair. There are a few wasps nests that need to be tended to. The add read high speed internet...not so..it was more like dial up. My daughter had an assignment due that she could not finish and had to use internet in town. We would not rent this cottage again unless these items were tended to. Ultimately it could used a screened in area to dine...there is a perfect spot under the deck..just needs screen and a door.

  This cottage was a beautiful fall retreat for our family.
  The sunrise was magnificent. The cottage was clean and very comfortable. We enjoyed many days of hiking the trails in the area followed by warming up by the wood stove!

  Good time at Cameron lake

  The cottage was not clean as we expected it to be. The furniture slip covers, mattress pads and chair pads were very dirty. The cottage smells very musty and cobwebs were numerous etc. We didn`t call to complain to the owners, figured it was too late once we were there. On the positve side... the location, lake, privacy and amenities were very good. Information on the site needs to be updated, they do have an oven! We enjoyed our stay after we spent some time cleaning! : (

  The cottage was amazing!! It was equipped with everything we needed. The views were stunning. Cameron Lake was clean and quiet.
  The only thing that was frustrating was there was construction going on next door and I wish we would have been informed of that. It would start early in the morning and wake us up. I would definitely return to this cottage. I would also use RentCottage.com again. Thanks!

  Cottage Rentals was prompt and helpful. The cottage we stayed at was well equiped with everything we needed and more! It was on a warm, quite lake which we really enjoyed. What we liked best was being right on the water....what we liked least, was having to leave!!

  Quaint cottage and terrific view on Cameron Lake. Great recreational toys -- canoe, kayaks etc.
  There is no stove;and the sad little barbecue we were given nearly exploded (gas manifold eroded an shot out flames)....after a few telephone calls the barbecue was replaced with a brand new, sad little barbecue. The cottage needs a stove or decent barbecue!
  Presently, price is too steep.

  The owner had the old BBQ replaced with a brand new one the next day.
  On the cottage profile for this cottage we do mention that the cottage does not come equipped with an oven, but there is a 4 burner stove top, a toaster oven, and a BBQ available for the renters to use.
