First time in Tobermory and at the cottage and we had a great time. Cottage was as described and in a wonderful location. Very close to town making going into town to shop or go on a tour easy. We made a number of meals at the cottage and did laundry one day and everything worked well. The cottage is very spacious, the view from the deck was just amazing. While there are other cottages nearby, the location is very peaceful and feels very private. The water was a little cold to swim but we made full use of the available kayaks, horseshoe pit and ping pong table during our stay and the water really is a clear as everyone says it is. Would highly recommend this cottage.
Great sunset views, easy kayak to Russell Island (feels like you're on your own private island), private and quiet, minutes drive to dunk's Bay Beach and convenience of Bay Street. Fabulous time!
Second Queen size bed not very comfortable so we opted for the one at the front of the house. No DVD player, only pantry item was salt and coffee filters, very little landscaping has been done on path to waterfront.
Nice place but expensive compared to nSalt Spring Island in Gulf

This cottage was clean and roomy.Appresiated the kayaks and lovely view of Georgian Bay. This was our first time here Scenically speaking was very nice.We are a family who like to cook and eat healthy so I foung thekitchen missing things like a blender, garlic press lemon squeezer ,the knives were terribly dull(good thing that I brought my own)having to bring sheets towels linens was a bit of a drag .I would recommend this place to a friend and would of course let them know the cost I would also explain the rocky beach on one side and sand on the other
Our first time at a cottage...It was a very pleasant experience at Dunromin. A quiet, spacious cottage overlooking lake Huron (waterfront property, but a 30 second walk to the water...past the deck and fire pit). Beautiful views...even from inside the cottage.
The weather wasn't great when we were there, and the cottage itself was a little dated, but that didn't stop us from enjoying the cottage. There were board/card games, plenty of dishes and cutlery, and a nice BBQ grill. Has a small tv with a VCR and a few older movies (enjoyed some 90s classics). Comfortably fit 6 people - 2 queen beds, 1 bunk bed for 2 people (a little wobbly & no windows in that room), and 2 bathrooms. The entire family enjoyed the stay.
A ~3 minute drive to town, and in a completely private neighborhood. Preferably get there when there is light. We weren't sure if we missed the driveway, but then we found it. And don't depend on your GPS, we lost signals near the entrance due to the tall trees.
There is also a table tennis table and other cool things available to use (kayaks, etc), but we didn't have enough time for it (and it was raining most of the time).

The booking service and theinstructions are strait forward. The customer service agent I spoke to was gentle and helpful.
The home is not luxury but it has every thing you need for a confortable stay. The washrooms were pretty clean and the whole hose has been well mainteined. Our only concern is about TV cable or dish (none) and it is sometimes important specially during the nights before you go to sleep, to have a game or any of your preferences to watch or for the kids to have some tv.
First time we rent a cottage . The experience is great, from the friendly representative who helped book the cottage to the beautiful sunset view at the cottage . Everything as described on website, we enjoyed the kayak in early June. Only thing I would add up is the third room is quite small and I would prefer a double size bed rather than a bunkbed
Fantastic view, fun time always on the deck and stunning sunset!

The cottage is very close the business area of Tobermory, which made everything easily accessible! Well maintenance of this clean comfortable cottage amazed us as soon as we drove in after a short distance of uneven path. The water access allowed us to kayak for fun to the devil's island across(there is also a ship wreck), which definitely was enjoyable for those who love the clear nice water. The sunset view is stunning! The cottage is very well equipped kitchen, and the BBQ stove is a joy! Laundry room has washer and dryer, so after dipped into the water, we will have clean dry clothes in just a few hour, good for those who didn't bring along tons of clothes. The home has also a table tennis table for leisure fun, which was awesome! The only thing we did experience that might make this stay a bit non perfect would be the leakage of one of the bathroom sink. I misread the check out time, so we kind of slept in quite late and we were able to see the lady who took care of the cottage, she was extremely nice and told us about how she took care of the cottage and keeping it clean for all the guests before checking in. We did have a fabulous time in the cottage!!!

We stayed for two weeks of kayaking, cycling, hiking, golfing and relaxation at the Dunromin cottage. The cottage surpasses the impression given by the photos! It is very private and the neighbours are friendly when you do eventually see them. The two single seat, open top kayaks are in good condition. The waves range from nil to three foot (depending on the wind). When the waves are strong head left from the cottage (against the waves) to ensure an easy paddle back. The row boat allowed us to play around with some fishing.
The sunsets are truly spectacular. They are best viewed from the water's edge, the right end of the deck and the window above the kitchen sink. The latter (almost) had us vying for who got to wash the dishes after dinner! There was never a prolonged cloudy period (micro climate).
The cottage is surrounded on three sides by a new professionally built deck. There are two table sets on the deck facing the water and another one at the front of the cottage under a shelter which also covers the barbecue. All of the exterior furniture is new.
There were no biting flies but plenty of non biting flies that appear at sunset and are attracted to the patio lights (so leave them off!).
Inside, the cottage is spacious and comfortable. The satellite television works well. There are no FM music channels (we brought our satellite radio along).
The village has a reasonable grocery store and you can also buy great fresh fish fillets across the main road from the harbour.
The local golf course has nine holes, is in good condition and has a decent driving range. All of the locals we met were friendly and easy going.
There are some nice areas to explore by bike. Its best to get close, by car, rather than cycling all the way from the cottage.
Hiking part of the Bruce trail is a must. Its an easy trail to hike.
We swam at the whispering sands beach. The water was cold and there was a fair wind (think PEI). Its great for kids, with a very gradual slope.

This is the perfect spot for a relaxing, quiet holiday. We love the
quaint, little village of Tobermory. The surrounding area is stunning,
we spent a lot of time hiking the Bruce Trail - which is just minutes
from the cottage.
The cottage itself is always very clean (this is our second vacation at
this particular cottage and we will definitely be back), very well
equipped and comfortable. Everything needed for a fabulous holiday is
The fact that the owners of the cottage accepts dogs is a huge
deciding factor for us - we always take our dog(s) with us on holidays
and we choose our destination with this in mind. We recently adopted
a second dog, so we're really hoping that the owners are as accepting
of two dogs as they have been of one! :)

Had a great holiday with the family at this cottage. Great location, rode our bikes into town or walked.
My son and I made great use of the kayaak's.
Had to do some tidying up, but think it was the first rental of the season. Otherwise a perfect holiday.
Would use this cottage again.

I enjoyed staying there but the neighbor was extremely rude and let his dog run loose on the propert. I also don't agree with the fact that I had to clean everything before I packed up and left - this was a vacation!!!! I won't be renting again if I have to vacuum, wash the floors, the windows and all the linen. I had to clean out the fireplace too.
For $1400.00 a week I'm sure you could pay someone to clean for 1/2 a day.

Dunromin is a cozy house with a superb
locationy. The house is nestled down a
forested gravel road and has its own rocky
shore right on Lake Huron. We almost never
stay in cabins, but due to the large group, it
was a good option this time.
6 of us stayed comfortably in the house, with
room for 2 more. The 2 bathrooms are clean and
spacious, and we cooked in the kitchen each
We tried to take advantage of everything that
was described in the website: we played some
exciting rounds of table tennis in the garage
and paddled the kayaks to the island across
the water. We could not locate the horse
shoes. The VHS library is quite good... we
watched a movie or two every evening.
We also rode our bikes the short distance
(about 10 minutes) into town each morning. The
ferry dock is quite convenient to the house as
well. We had some trouble initially finding
the house, as we arrived in pitch black night.
More thorough driving directions, starting
from the southern portion of the Bruce
Peninsula, would have been appreciated.
I made sure to find a cabin with western
exposure so we could watch the famous Lake
Huron sunsets. This cabin has front row seats!

This was our third property with Rentcottage.com and again, we were not disappointed. It was a very clean and spacious cottage in a very private location. We enjoyed the ping pong table in the evenings and the gazebo was a great spot to read. Thanks for opening your cottage up to us and allowing us to bring the whole family, including our Border Terrier.
