Our first cottage experience will be tough to beat

Left on 09/21/2012 for a stay in August 2012

We'd never rented a cottage before, and we found Pete's Cove to be comfortable and clean, with enough kitchen supplies to handle all our cooking needs. The views are amazing, and the platform overlooking the water is perfect. Very close to the Bruce Trail and provincial park.

I found my happy place in Pete's Cove!

Left on 09/20/2012 for a stay in July 2012

We spent a week at Pete's Cove with our two young girls and our dog. Everyone loved the gorgeous location, the interesting geography and for me - the mom - the most beautiful sunsets! Each night I would get a glass of wine, head to the water and enjoy my new happy place.

The shoreline is rocky but makes for a great adventure. We saw fish, frogs and snakes - which was a great thrill for the girls and the dog!

The cottage was well equipped and the owners called the first day to make sure we were OK.

The town is close, but not too close, and the attractions near Tobermory make it worth the drive from east of Toronto. The scenery is simply beautiful. We can't wait to go back!

Enjoying the sunset at Pete's Cove

      relaxing family getaway

This cottage was perfect for our needs. Great location and lots of lovely touches made it feel like a home from home. The shoreline was amazingly private - great for chilling or messing around in the water. We were there during an extreme heat week, so the cottage got a little too warm inside for comfort at night, especially upstairs, but that's cottage life I suppose! Would definitely recommend though - perfect for a family break.

      invigorating

A scenic view of Lake Huron, and a welcoming network of roads and trails to Georgian Bay and Tobermory make Pete's Cove a warm and dynamic retreat. An elevated boardwalk, strategic positioning of muskoka chairs and appropriately placed fire pit capture the most of the moments away from home. While your neighbours are closer than they feel, the site makes one feel that Lake Huron is yours for the enjoying alone.

      Escape for a Dream

Left on 12/19/2010 for a stay in November 2010

Everything you want in a cottage, you got it at Pete's Cove: Fantastic views, breathtaking nature, and last but not least a luxurious cottage! Our expectations were exceeded by far. Not only the woodstove, which made the cottage even cosier, but also the firepit is there and we had s'mores at the end of November. All of us had an incredible experience with both, the cottage, which is extremely well equipped, and Tobermory/Bruce Peninsula. If you love nature, you'll love it and we cannot imagine a better place to stay than at Pete's Cove. We'll be back for sure!

Great stay but a bad finish.

Left on 08/03/2010 for a stay in July 2010

Comfortable and well maintained cottage. Vistas on property were gorgeous. Amount of privacy and peace and quiet were fantastic. Close to all the wonderful Tobermory activities. We had a wonderful 2 week stay and then it all changed. We received an email on the Sunday of our return chastising us that although we paid the $100.00 cleaning fee the owner was angry with the amount of dog hair left behind. We were told that we "did not make any attempt to keep the hair under control". Not true, we vacuumed twice however the vacuum was in very poor condition and had no attachments. I was not pleased either. We are exceptionally clean people - other than the dog hair, the cottage did not require $100.00 cleaning. I cleaned the bathroom throughout our stay, everything was exceedingly tidy. Receiving this email was very upsetting - as you can likely deduce, I have not recovered yet. I have rented a cottage for 2 weeks every summer for the past 8 years and plan to do so next year also. I will not rent with rentcottage.com again - before you send accusatory messages, you should get the full story. The owner should also ensure that he provides functional cleaning equipment.

      wanna be there still

Left on 10/29/2009 for a stay in August 2009

My family of four stayed at Pete's cove for a week at the end of August and absolutely loved it!
We had spectacular sunsets every night, went kayaking, enjoyed campfires and the view of lake Huron. The cottage is really well equipped and clean and comfortable.
The Tobermory harbour which is only a ten minutes drive is very quaint and pretty. We caught the ferry to the flower pot island one day and also went to the Manitoulin Island as well.
The only inconvenience we experienced was a lack of washer and dryer but is a small price...

      The Bruce 'rocks'!

Left on 09/01/2009 for a stay in July 2009

This is a wonderful small cottage in a beautiful setting. Although there are neighbours it is a very private setting, with a fantastic view of the lake which we enjoyed at all times. Our hosts were very thoughtful and we felt more like guests than strangers. The rental process was straightforward and all the communications were clear. The boardwalk to the water's edge was most appreciated by my mother, a senior citizen. I enjoyed my daily walks, bird watching and just unwinding in those 'Tobermory' chairs by the lake!Thank you to everyone who helped make this holiday so stress-free.

Best cottage for relaxing that you could imagine

Left on 01/30/2009 for a stay in July 2008

My family and I stayed at this wonderful place for one week in July 2008. It was an unforgettable stay and the most relaxing vacations I've ever had. The cottage is spaceous and very well maintained and has everything you need. Whether on the "sunset point", the balcony or the cosy "barbecue place" on a sunny day you can always find a sunny spot. Also you're always surrounded by beautiful birds, cute little chipmunks and squirrels. I highly recommend renting this cottage to you!!

This is a charming place - clean, quiet, well equipped and with incredible views. We wouldn't hesitate to rent it again. Tobermory is a lovely town and there are numerous places to visit and enjoy in the vicinity. We didn't have time to see them all last year but are hoping to pay a return visit soon.
