      great cottage

Left on 07/24/2012 for a stay in September 2011

our stay at 229 last summer was ideal. the cottage is lovely, old, simple, but clean, neat, well-organized, with great swimming and everything you need for a peaceful getaway. The only reason we didn't rent it this year was that we have six people coming up, and the cottage can't accommodate that many adults. Please be assured that if we'd had more vacation time/money and fewer people, we'd be renting 229 again, and hope to do so next year, if it's available.
      Warm regards,
      Roz Bauer

      Beautiful, fun and relaxing

We had an amazing time at Loons' Calling. The cottage is small, but more than sufficient if you're going to be outside most of the time. The shoreline is rocky, but we had no trouble swimming with our daughters (4 and 2). The rocky shore also provided plenty to explore. The neighbours are extremely friendly and contributed to an amazing experience.

My oldest daughter has insisted we return next year. That's as good a testimonial as you can get.

This was a great place to unwind with the boys, playing cards and having some pints by the fire in the fall..

Cozy, comfortable cottage with peace and quiet

Left on 10/24/2010 for a stay in August 2010

Great cottage with amazing stargazing capabilities but the fog/weather issues we had made it hit or miss...not a factor anyone can control. The zero gravity chairs were stellar for that purpose alone. Cottage itself very clean, comfortable and had everything you could possibly need. Slightly further from town than expected but not so far you couldn't drive it a couple times a day. Waterfront weedy with slippery rocks; kids wouldn't go near it; water shoes a must unless you don't mind risking a nasty fall. Great fire pit.

      Great Summer Get Away

Left on 09/04/2009 for a stay in August 2009

We had a super time at the cottage...we enjoyed going to sleep with the sound of waves crashing in on the shore. Singing Sands is amazing!! Tobermory is our favourite vacation spot in Ontario!

My only negative comment would be that the washroom was very small...other than this, it was a super cottage, we enjoyed it very much and would definitely recommend it for a fun week away.

      Belated review!

Left on 01/24/2009 for a stay in July 2007

While the area and the view to the Lake was enjoyable and the situation was excellent the ambience of the area was ruined by the building of a 'monster home'adjacent to this property.
The water pump in the laundry area was extremely noisy and it was impossible to sleep because of it. The only solution was to shut it off overnight with the result that there was no water until the machine was restarted each morning.
Although the furnishings and appliances were good, during our stay we were subjected to a plague of flying ants inside the cottage and it was a major chore cleaning them up each day.
Having stayed at several cottages in this area over the years we do not expect lawns and shrubberies to be manicured (would be disappointed if they were), however, this cottage's surrounds were unkempt and bore very little resemblance to the pictures on the web site. Perhaps the owner was too busy with the monster home to pay too much attention to the cottage!

We are sorry that the cottage was not to your liking, we take all comments seriously.

We have relocated the pump to the exterior of the cottage so it will not disturb guests at night. The new cottage next door (1500 square feet) is now complete. The cottage is located on the Bruce Peninsula in a natural setting. We do maintain the grass around the cottage, beyond that the grounds are left in a natural state.
