We offer total privacy in a tranquil setting on a warm south facing property, just one minute walk to the beach.

My wife and I stayed here for three fantastic days and we loved every minute of it. We had never been to Tofino before (but had heard a lot about it!) and decided on the Ship Wreck; we were not disappointed. Sulo and his lovely dog Monty were incredibly friendly and great hosts. The property was private, quiet, extremely clean and very relaxing. Outdoor bathtub was a hit with my wife and the picnic table and balcony were great to sit outside to eat, read and drink. The location is close to the Pacific Rim National Park and Tofino and we found it to be a great location to all of the activities that we wanted to do (e.g. hiking, whale watching, dining). Chesterman Beach is a stones throw away and is a lot less crowded than Long Beach in case you are interested in surfing. The sauna (gratis for one session) was tremendous. This was by far the highlight of our trip to BC and alberta and we often talk about how much we enjoyed our time at Gold Coast

We have stayed in both the Haidaway and La Hacienda, as a couple and with friends and our experience has always been outstanding. The cabins themselves are equipped with every possible amenity imaginable and are very comfortable and clean. The sauna and giant bathtub (in the Haidaway) are more than just novelties and really round out the whole "tofino experience". The location is perfect if you are a surfer (like us) or just there for the scenery (us too). It is close enough to the beach to walk carrying a giant beginner surfboard, even if you are a wimp like me. Sulo and Louise, the owners, are very friendly and accommodating. We have stayed in other places in Tofino but none since discovering this place. We wholeheartedly recommend Gold Coast Retreat and are looking forward to returning soon!

When we first arrived at the Gold Coast retreat I was afraid - I thought I had died and gone to my personal heaven. The shipwreck cottage was magical and private. The kitchen was open and had great utensils and appliances - the stove is especially cool! Great Bathroom and comfy bed. I slept great.
It's a quick easy walk to Chesterman's Beach. The Finnish Sauna is amazing! I wish I could have enjoyed it more. -

As repeat visitors to Gold Coast, it is our favourite, and we have stayed at the best over the 30 years, but this one keeps bringing us back. The hospitality of Sulo and Louise is awesome and their accomodations are not only unique, private, super clean, and very close to the beach - which we love! Add in the outdoor clawfoot tub and Finish Sauna and who could ask for anything more. We really appreciate all the little extras and that they have kept their retreat in style with the local area. Thanks so much!

We felt as though we had our very own cottage by the beach. It was private, comfortable, clean, quiet and wonderfully decorated. Sulo and Louise were good to us - they made us and our little dog feel very welcome. The outdoor shower was a real treat and we used it every day. Having such easy access to the beach was perfect. We will certainly return to stay again.

If you are looking for a quaint , very quiet and private little gem this is it!!! Sulo is a great guy rescued us with some dill for our fresh salmon we were cooking on the grill out on the nice patio. Bed was super comfortable ... and I have to brag about the outdoor tub it is spectacular!!! and it can fit 2 !!! very clean and steps away from the majestic beach . Has all you need no bling but feels like home .. is a cabin :)

We have stayed in the shipwreck cabin at the Gold Coast Retreat twice and thoroughly enjoyed it both times. Great amenities,spotlessly clean,quiet, and private. We really felt as though it was "our" place. The location is wonderful, a very short 30 second walk to Chesterman Beach and an easy drive into Tofino. Louise and Sulo run a great establishment. We didn't want for anything and we look forward to staying here again.

We were there for 8 days in June 2010 and we wished we could have stayed forever!
The service was wonderful and the cabin was clean and well taken care of. The location is heavenly, just across the street from the beach. I recommend it to everyone who wants a relaxing beautiful stay in paradise :)

Amazing cottage with beautiful, woodwork, landscaping and nice touches such as fresh cut flowers and a lovely fireplace, make you feel like you've come home the second you walk in.
Louise and Sulo are two of the nicest people you would ever want to meet and the most gracious of hosts.
The amenities are above and beyond for a 'cabin'. Claw foot soaker tub under a solarium, outdoor shower for rinsing off after a day playing on the beach and a wood-fired Sauna can't be beat.
The spectacular beach is right across the street -- you can fall asleep to the soothing sounds of the surf or go for a peaceful morning run in the sand and watch the seabirds of wildlife wake with the sun. If you are a surfer, you'll be in paradise! If you don't surf, this just might make you want to learn!
The Shipwreck cabin is a place you will want to stay forever. -

A wonderful place to spend a few days in search of good waves and relaxing times.
Steps to South Chesterman Beach, an easy carry for any surfboard. Secluded, out-of-sight setting made me very comfortable leaving my gear unattended outdoors overnight.
Hard to beat the location - private, quiet, and only steps to the beach, but also only a few moments from town. Perfect.
Outdoor hot shower made cold wetsuit mornings easy.
Pet friendly, mellow and easily approachable owners, generously stocked kitchen and ample space for myself and 2 friends. Wonderfully clean, easy and relaxed check-in. Great BBQ, stove and fridge.
Didn't have time to try the sauna, but will definitely hit it up next time. Looks and sounds amazing.
I only wish I could've stayed a few more days. Will definitely return. -

Since 1995 we have stayed almost annually at Gold Coast Retreat. Right from our very first stay we have been warmly welcomed here and cannot imagine staying anywhere else. We have come to regard Gold Coast's unique handcrafted character cottage as our home away from home. We also greatly appreciate its setting in its own private garden. One can barbeque or bathe on its wraparound veranda, enjoying the birdlife that frequents the yard and the muffled sound of breaking surf on nearby Chesterman Beach. An added bonus is the availability of the adjacent cedarwood sauna, which offers the perfect end to a day of wind, sand, and surf. Gold Coast Retreat has been and remains our first choice for birding, beachwalking, surfing, and exploring--or just plain relaxing!

What an incredible experience! To be minutes away from such a georgeous beach and to go for unlimited walks with our dogs was in itself enough, however, it doesn't stop there. The little cabin is so charming and nothing was forgotten. Fully stocked and with such care! Everything from coffee beans to spices to amazing bubble bath. Speaking of bubble bath, once experiencing that amazing tub, one should never want to bathe inside again. Of course for those who don't like to soak, there is a lovely private outdoor shower right around the corner which is equally as lovely! The option to have laundry facilities is superb as it didn't occur to us that once returning from the beach, there would be very little dry clothing left!.. The sauna is addictive and relaxing and done properly!! Yet, another outdoor showerright by the sauna to continually hop in and out of just to go back into the amazing steam. The entire package is sweet! The cabin is cozy and roomy and it is just as easy to spend time in there as it is to walk the beach! We loved every moment and to say we will return is an understatment. Louise and Sulo are amazing! They offer privacy, but should you need them, there they are! If you live in any type of city...call right now and go as you can't beet this...three days is ideal, a month would be encouraged!

We have returned back to the Gold Coast Retreat year after year staying at the different cottages Sulo and Louise offer, and each time we leave we are planning our next visit. This time we stayed in the Hacienda, a spacious a-frame cottage just minutes from Chesterman Beach with all the amenities you have at home. What home doesn't have is the spectacular ambiance of a rain coast setting that was perfect for Valentines. Day.
We'll be back. -

We've stayed at the Gold Coast Retreat almost every year for about 4 years now. It is our Tofino getaway. The combo of proximity to Chesterman's beach, the cozy cabins, comfortable beds, outdoor tub and sauna make it an experience you'll want to have again. We recommend getting in the water and practising some surfing or boogie boarding too.

I have stayed in Tofino many times and how Goldcoast escaped my notice is beyond me.
This must be the best kept secret in town. Excellent accomodation. Awesome laid back hosts and a sauna to boot. Pet friendly. Steps to chesterman beach and way affordable.
I am going to recommend this place to all and sundry. Hands down the best place I have ever stayed in Tofino. -

We had a very relaxing and hospitable stay. The location was wonderful, 100 m from the beach 4 K from Tofino. We felt welcome and relaxed the entire time.
