Additional Location Information

Surrounded by ancient and protected rainforest, edged by a vast, rolling ocean, and populated by passionate residents, Tofino offers the perfect mix of wild nature and authentic coastal village. Botanical House is situated 1.0 miles (1.4 km) south of downtown Tofino -- away from the hubbub, but close enough to it to walk to a wonderful restaurant, or stroll down to one of our world-famous sandy beaches!

Spring: The glorious arrival of Spring in Tofino seeps into all of your senses. You can smell it in the salt-tinged winds, feel it in the dark, springy, forest floor and see it all around you - delicate ferns unfurling and massive trees bursting with new growth.
The village of Tofino blossoms too, warming in the returning sun. Windows and doors are thrown open hopefully, patios aired out, and outside activities shift into a higher gear.

Summer: The spirit of this place shines through most brightly in the Summer, when new plant and animal life emerges in all its glory. Patio doors are flung open, beach towels unpacked, forest picnics planned, and festivals of great music, food and culture are unleashed. Come experience the West Coast at its Summer finest. Revel in everything from the Food and Wine Festival to the enchanting Lantern Festival (both in the Tofino Botanical Gardens).

Fall: Tofino in the Fall becomes a supremely mellow place. Many of the birds and summer visitors have left, the beaches are deliciously quiet, and the pace is even slower than normal. Combined, it all makes for a wonderful, relaxing, natural getaway. The days are long enough here to fully experience the raw beauty of this place, and short and crisp enough to indulge in the pleasures of fine food, wine and merriment.

Winter: Winter is storm-watching season in Tofino, and you won't find a better place in the world to experience the raw beauty and power of nature. It's like standing in the calm centre of a violent storm. Tides crash against vast beaches, washing giant tree trunks and kelp onto the windswept shore. Twenty-foot waves pound the surface of the ocean, stirring up treasures of shell and rock and sea life. And there you are, braving it all in your slicker and gumboots or inside one of Tofino's ocean front restaurants, with a steaming mug, watching to it all in awe.
