The apartment was very clean and well looked after and modern. The views upstairs where you eat are good looking over Torcross. Nice having tea, coffee and cookies. We had some lovely coastal path walks, and if you like fish and chips the local pub was a good place to eat, and Beesands even better. The stairs are very steep with small treds and not suitable for people with leg problems. we will definitely like to go back.

Gillingham, DorsetFantastic short break despite the weather
Left on 03/31/2013 for a stay in March 2013
Traveled from Dorset on Monday in late March, left early Friday. Reception was easy and was was simplified by having the keys left in the keysafe. Car parking was no problem. Just a short walk to the door. The commuter pass for parking is a great idea for free parking. Be aware that you can only park for free in designated areas. Just park in the recommended areas and if in doubt check the payment machine in the car parks. There is also an additional ticket for the park and ride in Dartmouth. Just leave the commuter pass on display in the car and show the square card to the driver on the bus. The weather was awful for the first two days but the facilities in sunny view were great for relaxing. Wifi, DVD and digital radio for entertainment. The place is small but that should not deter people. The bed is very comfortable and my wife and I both commented on what a good nights sleep we had.The Start inn is to be recommended. The food is very good and the Jumbo cod is FaB. we recommend a walk to Start point lighthouse to get the cobwebs out. Its about nine or ten miles of fantastic scenery. Kingsbridge is also nearby for browsing as is Dartmouth. All in all we both agreed that we had had a super stay. Thanks Charlotte.

BedfordThe perfect get-away-from-it-all!
Left on 03/19/2013 for a stay in March 2013
Set in a wonderfully peaceful location Sunnyview is ideal for the sandy beach & walks in the beautiful countryside. Easy access by bus or car to larger villages & towns, with welcoming inns & eateries nearby.
The house has been superbly designed, with great humour & attention to detail making it a really pleasurable hide-away. Lots of thoughtful extras & hi spec 'home comforts'.The weather was wild & windy for part of our stay but this didn't spoil our enjoyment as the house was so cosy on the chilly nights & light & airy for the warmer times.
Everything was made easy by Charlotte's handling of the booking (thank you!) & info' when we arrived, plus the parking permit-a bonus!
Terrific stay in an idealic setting! -

Thank you so much for such a lovely cottage. It was like living on a boat; the layout was ingenious, creating a really welcoming atmosphere. We had a lovely holiday, and were really grateful for all the ideas of things to do in the local area. It's a great package you have. The coastline was splendid, and the weather good too! And on top of that, the price was amazing value for the week. Thanks!

We had a lovely few days in Torcross, shame we had forgotten to pack the good weather.
Sunnyview is a beautifully decorated and well thought out property. I love all the quirky ideas. The parking permit is a brilliant idea
The dilemma now is do I keep it to myself or tell the whole world about the find! -

Cardiff, United KingdomPeaceful and cosy coastal getaway
Left on 08/31/2012 for a stay in August 2012
Just got back from a week at Sunnyview in Torcross and had a lovely stay, despite some rainy days. We spent a lot of time walking on the local beaches and coastal paths, soaking up the local fresh air and views, which was bliss. The cottage is as good as it looks in the photos - spotlessly clean and surprisingly light and airy, despite its tiny size. The design is excellent; it's obvious that a lot of love and hard work was put into making it so cosy and practical. The only thing I'd point out to other travellers is that the fridge is tiny so bring a coolbox and icepacks (there's a section in the fridge to freeze them) if you intend to cook a lot, otherwise you'll find yourselves eating out more than you may have planned to, although maybe we used that as an excuse because the local pubs and restaurants are great! The little patio with the chiminea is lovely, we sat out in the evening when it didn't rain! We were so relaxed that we didn't get up early enough to catch the morning sun in the driftwood garden, which was a shame because it's adorable! We didn't want to come home and would definitely stay at Sunnyview again in the future.

The home was immaculately presented upon our arrival with plenty of smart quirky little features. the mapped table, oar handle on the staircase and the mini feet dryer in the kitchen were my personal highlights!
The custom made bed with majority homemade bespoke furntiture gave the accommodation a real unique and thoughtful ambience.
Loved the fact that such a small village contained so much local history as well as all the nearby attractions and history contained relatively close to Torcross.
My favourite aspects of the stay were the relaxed and charming location of the accommodation combined with the aromas only heightened the sensors to a glorious stay down in Devon. Will be back for sure!

Left on 09/03/2011 for a stay in August 2011
Sunnyview is a gorgeous little property in the equally gorgeous Torcross where we had the most enjoyable week. Sunnyview was a great base to come back to each evening after exploring South Devon each day. The bed was so comfortable and the kitchen and bathroom were just the right size! Even though this property isn't huge, it is extremely cosy and is perfect for a week's getaway with a friend or partner.
The Torcross Boat House does some wonderful food, we ate there twice during our stay!! The surrounding areas are lovely to explore; Start Point is a great walk to do.
The only problems we encountered were that the Wifi didn't work and we had to get used to not having an oven for the week, however this didn't disrupt our stay at all...
The people are friendly, the house is gorgeous and we had the most fantastic stay. Thank you Will! All your hard work has truly paid off, you should be proud! -

Sunny view is a unique cottage that provided us with the perfect home away from home. In a perfect position a few yards from the beach its a great place to enjoy the beautiful Devon coast. So much attention to detail has been put into the cottage from the welcome cookies to the upstairs breakfast bench overlooking Slapton Ley. the provision of a car park pass that can be used around South Hams was a real bonus as well. would certainly recommend Sunny View to friends who want a quiet getaway in a great location.

The initial omigoditstiny!! soon eased. It has a relaxing effect on you. Looking out of the window down the Ley, watching the birds and people go by is very calming. Friendly locals, a good pub, (Start Bay Inn), all add up to a pleasurable stay.

Great things come in small packages
a peaceful idyllic retreat for those who want to relax/romance/walk/run/stuff their faces on gorgeous local food/ sunbathe (weather permitting) and enjoy all the local area has to offer.
Will has done a splendid job giving you everything you could possibly need, and then more, in a diminutive space. Loveday was lovely too.
We had a fantastic time and would highly recommend it to everyone we know, (except those couples who row a bit , or very tall people!)Response from Charlotte Barker - 07/07/2011

Many thanks for the kind review Donna! I must agree with your comments (well put about tall people and couples rowing - although there is a long beach to escape to and gather your thoughts!).
I particularly like that you mention Loveday (my housekeeper) who is fantastic! She is a lovely local lady, does a great job at keeping the house tip-top between guests, and will go out of her way to accomodate our guest's requests. If you bump into her, please say hello, she certainly will! -

Sherborne, DorsetSunnyview was a perfect location for us
Left on 05/19/2011 for a stay in May 2011
We'd wanted a well-appointed self-contained place that would put us close to good amenities, a beautiful coast, and with lots of interesting places within easy reach. Sunnyview gave us exactly that.
But it also gave us several welcome "bonuses". There was minimal traffic passing by and nights were virtually silent; the bed was very comfortable; and to be given use of a South Hams District car parking permit certainly saved us a few pounds on our trips around the area.
We had a great time and are already thinking in terms of a return visit sometime. Well done Will! -

We stayed for a long weekend at Sunnyview and loved it! The house is amazingly compact but has absolutely everything you could need for a cosy stay. It is in such a quiet spot and fely like a real haven - which is just what we were looking for.
Superbly situated for lovely coastal walks and The Star pub in the village was fantastically good value and very welcoming. Village shop is fine for basics and papers. Also visited the Cricket Inn at Beesands which was a short walk on the coast path and had lovely Sunday lunch.
Could easily have passed a week in the area and would love to return for longer next time. -

Left on 02/25/2011 for a stay in February 2011
I rented this accommodation knowing it was in a quiet area. I wanted to stay by the sea and wanted to be pretty central to close villages/towns I wanted to visit. My friend and I wanted a few days away to do not a lot, just eat, go for walks and relax and thats what we did. The house allows you to have your own space what you don't always get in hotels. We ate out most of the time but their was brilliant equipment if you wanted to stay in and cook. The accommodation is really clean and tidy, and lovely and warm. It's a really cute place to stay. I loved it! The accommodation has got such good attention to detail and I could not think of anyway it could be improved.
The owner was fab, left information about places to eat and things like that. The Sea Breeze cafe was excellent. Could not fault anything about the accommodation or the place. I would 100% stay there again.Response from Charlotte Barker - 02/27/2011

This cottage is amazing and I would reccomment anyone to stay there. The service from the owner was exceptional and the deisign and the attention to detail of the cottage is great. It is an ideal base for exploring the south hams. When your inside you will constantly be surprised by all the little details of the cottage and the amount of thought and attention that has gone into making it a cosy and elegant retreat for any couple. We would definately go back. Make sure you visit the Start Bay Inn on the seafront for a pint and their famous fish and chips its great!

Left on 10/11/2010 for a stay in August 2010
This house is pretty amazing - the owner has ob viously spent a long time thinking of everything you could possibly want during a week stay and found a way to build it in, stow it away or write it down - we were amazed! (And the shower is the best I've ever used) The village is nice - fantastic value fish and chips at the pub and a good farm shop nearby (though the local butchers ws a bit scary!) Was a good base for exploring the area or just sitting in and looking out over the bay.
