Cincinnati, OhioClean, comfortable, quiet, well equipped cabin
Left on 05/09/2013 for a stay in March 2013
When we walked in, Fernwood smelled like a cabin should with a subtle fireplace aroma.
The woodsy decor is fun. The kitchen is well equipped. And there is easy access to the Townsend "Wye" entrance into the national park. -

Orlando, FloridaOverall a good cabin for the price
Left on 01/21/2013 for a stay in December 2012
We stayed in the Evergreen and really enjoyed it. The location is just a mile or two off the main road through Townsend, close to all nature things you want to visit in the Townsend area and 321 to Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg. The road to/from the cabin eventually narrows to one lane, making the need for 4-wheel drive in wet conditions as we were called to pull to the side to let others pass. The cabin is two stories with a lovely front porch with rocking chairs and back patio with grill. It has a full bed/bath below, full bed/bath above and a loft bedroom upstairs as well. It’s got a nice fireplace with firewood provided (bring your own starters or plan to forage for twigs), dining area and kitchen, is well-appointed, decorated nicely and very comfortable but could use a thorough dusting. Insulation seems to be absent and sound carries dreadfully, so everything said or done anywhere in the cabin is heard by all. We resorted to a blowdryer when the need for privacy arose but next time we’ll bring a fan and ear plugs. The floors creak upstairs, more so than other cabins we’ve stayed in, so a nighttime trip across the floor to the bathroom was a wakeup call to anyone below. Overall it’s a good cabin for the price and the owners were a pleasure to deal with when we booked, available if needed during our stay.

Troy, OhioGreat!
Left on 09/11/2012 for a stay in September 2012
We rented this for three days and brought our ederly parents with us. They loved this cabin! It was easy for them to access, one small stair (you can see in the pics) to enter the cabin and the master bedroom is on the ground floor with a bath. It's decorated so you feel like your in a cabin, only with modern conviences!

Nice Quiet Location
Left on 06/04/2012 for a stay in May 2012
This cabin is clean and adequately furnished. But the location is definitely the best thing. Townsend is a nice quiet town, and this cabin is also up a smaller track into the woods. There is one cabin opposite, but you really can't see any neighbors, it's so private and quiet. We loved it! My family were very excited to have the chance to do lots of birdwatching in this area, just by standing outside of our cabin!

We , three couples, traveled to the area on motorcycles from Iowa. We chose this cabin because of it's central location . We rode all the trails ( even the Dreaded Dragon, and staying here felt like coming home each day after our rides. We loved the peace and quiet and sitting on the porch, rocking each night talking about the events of the day and the natural beauty and peacefulness of the area. We enjoyed our stay. The cabin was perfect and will always be remembered as our place in the Smokey's. Thanks for having us. We hope to come back again!

TennesseePeace and quiet in the Smokey Mountains
Left on 05/07/2010 for a stay in November 2009
We visited Fernwood cabins in the fall of 2009 and it was one of the best vacations my family has ever had. When we arrive the cabin was spotless and the owner stopped up prior to our arrival to turn the lights on. The cabin is located in the woods but is very close to Townsend and the Smokey Mountains. We enjoyed resting at the cabin, enjoying the fireplace, taking walks, and watching nature from the front porch.
We were sad to leave but look forward to returning to Fernwood. It is a great getaway in the peaceful side of the Smokey Mountains.
