      Great cottage!!!

Left on 10/25/2012 for a stay in October 2012

We are originally from Holyhead, Anglesey and travel back either once or twice a year to visit family in Holyhead and Trearddur Bay. We usually rent a cottage and family from mid and South Wales join us for a week or two by the sea. We were a little dubious about this cottage at first - looks like it is stuck behind a few other houses and it is not on the water. However, we decided to give it a try because it had three bedrooms and two bathrooms - an absolute necessity for six people!!! What a pleasant surprise!!! Yes, it is set back off the road but by no means stuck behind other houses - just further back which makes it very private and quiet. It has loads of parking and is so safe for kids to get in and out of the car. There is a pub/restaurant just accross the street but we never heard any noise because the cottage is so far back and the beach is a two minute walk away. The conservatory on the back of the house is the living room and it is lovely. It is surrounded by gardens which have bird feeders. Every day we saw pheasants, magpies, pigeons, blackbirds, finches and many other birds we didn't recognise. The owners also have a greenhouse and gardens with fresh veggies - we went in October so it was slim pickings but I am sure in the summer it would be great. One of the bedrooms is a double with an ensuite shower and the other two are also a decent size - big enough to each hold two twin beds and they share the family bathroom which has a bath with a shower over it. Both bathrooms are equipped with heated towel racks - a nice feature. All bedding was lovely and new and welcoming. The kitchen is done to a high standard and the dining room easily seats six with plenty of room to move around. The whole cottage despite being a one floor plan is very spacious and even with six of us staying for a few days we always had lots of room and seats for all!!!
On arrival there was a bara brith (Welsh fruit cake) freshly baked and tea and coffee and milk - a very welcome surpise!!!
We loved sitting in the conservatory in the morning with our coffee and in the evening with our wine!!! We even saw a badger in the backyard one night. It was great for us to see it as we don't see many - if any - in Canada - although I think the local people might not share the same enthusiasm as us.
We would not hesitate to rent this cottage again - and we have rented quite a few over the years - we travel at different times and so do not book ahead. I did see that this cottage changed ownership earlier this year and had just come up for rental - I think that it might be difficult getting a free week or two next time as once people have stayed here they will want to come back due to its privacy, perfect location - two minutes to the pub, two minutes to the beach and its high standard of finish. Of nbte is that while we were there wi fi was not available - we contacted the owner who has had trouble getting it installed by the local company but it is apparently going to be ready in November. Also, there wasn't a coffee maker - we left a note to suggest this in the book so hopefully one of those will be forthcoming too - as many coffee drinkers do not like instant!!!
