A perfect name to describe a place surrounded by nature. Each room in these thatch-roofed wooden cottages has a front and back verandah and private bath. Two rooms have a queen-sized bed and two rooms have a queen-sized and single bed.
Sit on the front verandah, look across the field and glimpse the sea. Sit on the back verandah, look across the lush gardens and lift your gaze to the Santa Cruz Mountains.
Take a stroll around the gardens and enjoy the variety of flowers and fruit trees. Take a short walk through the field and enjoy a swim in a quiet cove, or enjoy some incredible bird watching at Great Pond located right next door...Read more

Such a great place, not ruined by tourist masses. If you are looking for a place which is a true untouched beauty near the beaches with great owners, this is the place for you.
We are highly reccomending it to everyone who wants peace and quite while on Jamaica.
Fishermen are extraordinary...arrange a lobster portions prepared in their houses and enjoy the sunset.
The best locals while visiting Jamaica off season.

I love, love, love this place. No electricity = no phones, no computers, no blaring televisions; just a good book while lying in bed under the grass thatched roof letting the soft breezes caress you. Then you can get up and walk down to the beach for a swim or go a little further walk to Great Bay and swim. The locals say Hello to you and no one hassles you to buy trinkets. Go to the local store, buy a cool drink and back to Ital Rest where you sit out on the deck and talk with owners Jeanne or Frankie about all manner of subjects. Put your feet up and truly relax! I've been here 3 times now; twice with my pre teen daughter and even she is not bored! She learned to put the Nintendo down and read a book; she learned to talk with adults, she learned to look at the gorgeous nature all around us. She got fresh air and lots of exercise with walking and swimming. We are so enthralled with Ital Rest that when we go back in the winter of 2013, it is the first place we are heading for!!

Ital Rest offers peace and comfort to the budget minded traveler. This is not just a a cliche, but an accurate statement.
My first impression was "This is nice", and it only got better as my stay continued. The buildings are clean, and comfortable, and provide a personal space that generates a feeling of "calm". The grounds are very well kept. The owners are dedicated to keeping is natural. Ital Rest is located about an half hour walk from Treasure Beach (my pace), and thus is removed from the normal sounds associated with traffic or town settings. There is nothing quite like waking up to the Rooster calling in the country setting. It was a three minute stroll to the ocean (it felt like my private beach). I felt secure at all times. That being said, always take time to understand the do,s and dont's anywhere you travel. There were no pressure vendors at this property. There was the occasional person selling fresh fruit/vegetables (polite and inexpensive). The hosts are accomodating and knowledgable. They can provide insight and assistance to see more than the typical tourist traps. Take the time to talk with your hosts. They are good people.
Need to know: It is a 30 minutes walk (depending on your speed) to Treasure Beach. This is where most restaurants are located. Bank Cash machines were not available in Treasure Beach. This may have changed. Check into availability. Other food arrangements can be made with your hosts. Bikes were available. The kitchen is basic with propane burners and a sink. Shop at Black River for basic necessities. Water is not heater (Its Jamaica, its warm).
Summary. I felt truly relaxed during my visit. I will be back.
