PortlandRainbow Tree offers the best vacation you'll ever have
Left on 05/22/2013 for a stay in May 2013
This was my second trip to Rainbow Tree and our entire group is already trying to decide when we can go back again. This trip we had 9 friends that had never traveled together before. The expansive house and all the common area outside gave everyone plenty of private space if you want privacy and perfect spots for socializing like the veranda/porch overlooking the sea.
From the minute you step off the plane and into the hands of the amazing staff at Rainbow Tree, you'll be in for the most amazing vacation ever. One of the best things about Treasure Beach is the lack of pressure to do anything but relax. The biggest decision of the day after you've finished the best breakfast you'll ever have, is to swim in the ocean or the pool, and do I read a magazine or start another book? It's delightful. There is wireless internet at the house if you need to work, which one of our guests did every morning before heading to the ocean.
The house is very well equipped with everything you'll need and the bedrooms are all well appointed and are generous in size. The folks that care for you at Rainbow Tree are the kindest people you'll ever meet coupled with the fact that the food is absolutely amazing. We highly recommend you give Miss Jenny and Miss Laura carte blanche to make Jamacian food for the week and I promise you won't be disappointed. We ate at a local restaurant one night and the food was very good but not even close to Miss Laura and Miss Jenny's cooking. We couldn't wait for our next meal!
Make sure you take the trip up the Black River and to the Pelican Bar with aman and Richie and have Calvin build the bonfire on the beach. You won't be disappointed. Hands down the best vacation ever! -

This is the second time I have stayed at Rainbow Tree, and the first time with our young twins. Rainbow Tree is an excellent place to experience life in Jamaica and not feel like a tourist.
Miss Laura and Miss Jenny somehow have a knack of knowing when they are needed and when they are not. They have been doing this for a long time, and it shows. The food is excellent. They cook up real Jamaican food, and they will taylor the menu to what you like. We had lobster a couple of times, excellent jerk chicken, and ackee and salt cod for breakfast. Best of all, you will eat most of your meals on the veranda, with the fresh air, views of the ocean, sounds of the birds, and latticed shade. The jasmine was in bloom during our stay, so the aroma filled the veranda.
There is a lot of space at Rainbow Tree: 5 bedrooms, plenty of indoor space, and of course the wrap-around veranda. Our twins loved to race around the entire veranda. And the grounds feel expansive, too: the pool and its shady palapas, the grass, the hammock, and the steps down to the beach. The villa is located on a cove, so the beach is somewhat narrow. There is a reef that protects the beach from heavy surf, and the snorkeling is pretty good.
The entire Treasure Beach community is friendly to visitors. There are no resorts here, so if you are looking for a resort, then Treasure Beach may not be your place. If you want to add some adventures to the relaxation, then I definitely recommend Floyd's Pelican Bar, a bar built of sticks located in the ocean. Other worthwhile adventures include YS Falls, a boat trip up the Black River, or a tour of the appleton rum distillery.
I know that I will be going back, and it appears from other reviews here that this is a commonly shared opinion from people who stay at Rainbow Tree. Right now a common greeting amongst Jamaicans is "Respect!" If the kind of respect shown in these reviews resonates with you, then you will enjoy it. -

This trip marked the fourth consecutive year my family and I have made
the trek to Treasure Beach and Rainbow Tree (some of us all the way
from Norway) and each year we are reminded why it is among our
favorite spots in the world.
Miss Jenny, Miss Laura, Calvin and aman look after us as they would
their own family, not only taking care to ensure we are well fed (the
coconut cream pie! the lobster! the banana pankcakes!) but also
helping arrange whatever we needed: bicycles to rent, rides to and
from Jake's and Jack Sprat, and even tips on how to calm stubbornly
itchy mosquito bites.
Aman is an excellent and knowledgeable tour guide and the unofficial
mayor of Treasure Beach. In four trips, I've done most all of the
available excursions and he knows someone at every destination. Trust
his dining recommendations, too -- he knows what he's doing. He is
well versed in Jamiacan politics, government and history and happily
answers any questions about either.
The accomodations at Rainbow Tree Villa are top-notch and it doesn't
take long for the place to feel like home. Our most recent trip
included nine people and the house is expansive enough for us to
spread out and relax as we each saw fit, without feeling crowded or in
each other's way.
If you are looking for maximum relaxation in a gorgeous, peaceful
setting, then Rainbow Tree is the right place. -

The Rainbow Tree is a fabulous place to relax, enjoy the lovely setting, eat well and hang out with family. If you need "adventure," look elsewhere. If you want to hang out on the beach, read by the pool, play board games with family and have no responsibilities for food or anything...this place is for you. Ms. Laura and Ms. Jenny are fabulous hostesses. They are helpful and kind. And, their cookins is wonderful. I loved almost every meal (and had to diet for a while afterwards!) and appreciated not being responsible for shopping, cooking or clean up. What a thrill. The layout on the house is perfect. Nice bedrooms, adequate baths and great hanging out space -- especially the huge veranda. I loved this place, as did all my family. We ranged from teenagers to 80 year olds and we all loved it.

Stayed here with my wife and 2 kids for three nights at the invitation of a friend from way back that we needed to reconnect with, and his family of four. Perfect location for the intention! Privacy when we needed it, and interaction when required. The staff were warm and welcoming. Good folks. The property has seen better days but I hear it was built 22 years ago? and the fixtures, flooring etc date it. Not a problem as the pool was impeccable and the beach just fine. Not the powdery white sand that Jamaica's north coast is famous for but that's not what we wanted.
Meals were prepared daily and they were good. Thanks Miss Laura and Miss Jenny. We ate out at Jack Sprat one night but rushed back to the good homre cooking at Rainbow Tree.
If you are squeamish about harmless insect life then go to an all inclusive (laden with pesticides I am sure!) - nowhere in Treasure Beach is for you! We had a ball. Leaving to go home was the hardest part.. -

Lake Anna, VirginiaThe best vacation you will ever have.
Left on 07/17/2012 for a stay in July 2012
My family and I had the best vacation experience of our lives at Rainbow Tree. The property and the view are breathtaking. Everything is clean and in good working condition with every detail taken care of. I took a nap in a hammock hanging from the branches of an almond tree overlooking the sea. But the staff are the real gems here. They not only prepare wonderful local cuisine and care for your every need, they also are exremely warm and friendly and make you feel like family. My son was invited to go play soccer (football) by some of the local boys and they all treated him like an old friend. It had a real impact on his view of the world. Have the driver (extra cost) take you to Floyd's Pelican Bar and the Black River tour by boat, and to YS Falls and the appleton Rum factory tour by car. Ask the grounds keeper to take you fishing on the coral reef and to make a night bonfire on the beach (and tip extra for these). The private pool is really private while offering an excellent view of the sea. The owners were very accurate in their descriptions and explanations. Just follow their advice and you won't be disappointed! We're definitely going back and will be bringing friends and family.

It will take an adventurous drive from the airport, but well worth it. Great rooms, ultimate relaxation, and privacy in the real unspoiled Jamaica. Jenny and Laura will keep you well feed. Snorkeling, sand, pool, private beach . . . just come and you will see.

I am a returning guest since 2002. I have stayed both with friends and with family for times ranging from 1 to 3 weeks. The service is friendly beyond compare. The food is delicious and plentiful. The accomodations are relaxing and comforting. I have stayed here all different times of the year and always cry when I'm leaving. If you want to relax - this is the place, no pressure and no worries just a quiet peaceful beach, luxurious pool and view out of this world. I hope to go at least once a year the rest of my life!

I don't even know where to start...there is so much to rave about (in a good way, of course!). We got married at this beautiful villa, and every detail was taken care of by the beautiful and kind people who work here, as well as by many of the amazing residents of Treasure Beach. Everything that could have been done was done to make, not just our special day as unforgettable as possible, but our whole two week stay at this magical place. The first week, we had some of our wedding party staying at Rainbow Point, the smaller of the two Rainbow Tree Villas, as well as ourselves and others from our wedding party staying at Rainbow Tree. I can't even begin to describe the warmth we felt from the beginning from the staff, who quickly became friends throughout the stay. Not to mention the amazing beach and pool, which would put any resort to shame. We certainly hope to be return visitors. We had an amazing combination of complete relaxation, a bit of adventure (Floyd's and the Black River, and I went on an amazing bird tour), family fun (with 3 little ones under the age of 5, somehow we all still managed to relax!), etc. I can't recommend it enough!

My second trip to Rainbow Tree Villa in December 2010 was just as lovely as my first in 2009. My family and I love the seclusion and comfort of this magnificent home and the delightful and friendly people we encounter in Treasure Beach.
The amazing staff went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed, even during the Christmas-New Year holiday week we were there. Our group consisted of 6 adults with varying interests and we had no problems keeping ourselves as occupied (or unoccupied) as we wished.
The food is amazing, the sunsets spectacular and service perfect and unobtrusive.
Many thanks to the Kennedy family for sharing this unique part of the world.
We absolutely plan to return as many times as we can.

Alberta, CanadaAn absolutely amazing vacation at a beautiful villa.
Left on 01/03/2011 for a stay in February 2010
I can truly say that our time at Rainbow Tree was the most relaxing and memorable vacation that anyone in our family has ever had. The staff there went out of their way to ensure that everyone had the best time possible. Our mornings began with fresh coffee on the veranda overlooking the ocean and then a lovely breakfast prepared by Miss Laura and Miss Jenny. Mornings were spent exploring the beautiful beach and reef protected water front just below the villa. Afternoons were spent lazing by and playing in the private pool. Evenings were for playing board games and lying outside looking at the brilliant stars.
The ladies made sure that we had delicious meals three times a day, and that the cooler was always well stocked with whatever beverages made us happy. Both of our families (four adults and three children aged 14, 10 and 9) had a wonderful time and enjoyed the various outings that we arranged with the staff immensely. Our boat trip up the Black River and to Floyd's Pelican Bar was a load of fun, as was our trip to YS Falls. The bonfire that Calvin the groundskeeper set up on the beach below the villa for our last night there was a truly memorable experience and one that our children still talk about.
My husband and I had been to Jamaica five times before this (in Negril), and could not believe the difference between the busy resort scene that we were used to, and the relaxed lifestyle that we found at Treasure Beach. We took a 1.5 mile walk from Rainbow Tree down the road past many local houses and villas, and were not once stopped by any vendors. We were absolutely amazed by how truly friendly everyone was. I can not recommend this absolutely beautiful villa enough, and loved it so much that we rebooked our next vacation at Rainbow Tree immediately after getting home last year. -

VirginiaBeautiful, quiet property with an amazing staff
Left on 11/28/2009 for a stay in June 2009
Treasure Beach is one of the most isolated parts of Jamaica, with a relatively dry climate and a peaceful atmosphere. Rainbow Tree sets the standard for villas in Treasure Beach and maybe even the island. The property has a private beach, with convenient access to the public beaches as well. The views are amazing in every direction, and the continuous ocean breeze makes it comfortable day and night. In spite of being off the beaten path, it also has convenient access to some of the best spots to see on the island. There is also Internet access, telephone and a house cell phone for traveling.
As amazing as the property is, the staff is what truly sets Rainbow Tree apart from other villas. The staff has changed little in the last 20 years and shows the best of the tight-knit community that is Treasure Beach. They are friendly, honest and caring. They keep everything well-maintained and clean. By default, they will prepare three thoroughly fantastic, balanced meals per day. They can also accommodate most special needs, food requests, etc if made ahead of the trip.
In addition to the meals, snacks, drinks, etc are purchased specifically for you ahead of your trip. It is difficult to find something to worry about while you're there. If you do actually find something you need, Black River is close by, which has groceries, ATMs, a drug store, etc.
There is little not to like about Treasure Beach and Rainbow Tree. We've been back several times and undoubtedly will return for many more. It is ideal for anyone who wants a quiet break from the world. -

This was our third trip to Rainbow Tree. The house is a magnificent villa with all the comforts of a nice hotel. It has beautiful views, a private beach and swimming pool. The staff take care of your every need and the food is better than most restaurants. A boat trip to Floyd's Pelican Bar is a must.
If you like action-packed, crowded vacations go somewhere else. If you want to relax, reinvigorate and be pampered by the most wonderful people you'll ever meet, Rainbow Tree is the place to go. -

Rainbow Tree Villa was absolutely amazing. If you are looking for "True" Jamaica... this is the place!! The food, the people ( now our friends), the sound of the sea, the children, the sunshine, and the beauty of the land will be forever in our hearts and souls.
Pictures can not express the peace, beauty and feelings you will experience at Rainbow Tree. The " staff", now our Jamaican family will treat you with open arms and loving hearts. They will listen, make a homemade blend of aloe out of the garden, squeeze fresh orange juice every morning, prepare and serve a feast every meal and will do what they can to make your stay wonderful.
Rainbow Tree is kid friendly with a very clean swimming pool... and yes it is fresh water!!
You will fall asleep every night listening to the sound of the soft sea and palm trees blowing in the breeze. This is a very special place on earth and it is a privelage to have experienced it!!
Our wedding was more beautiful than anyone could have imagined...
Rainbow Tree is a slice of heaven on earth... we hope to visit every spring.... -

We stayed at Rainbow Tree in February with group of 6 adults and 3 children. We've all travelled extensively for years, and this was far and away the best vacation any of us had ever been on. We are already booked for next February. Total privacy, beautiful accommodations, great food, and a staff who felt like family by the time the week ended. It was just ultimately relaxing, you really feel like you are at home, (that is, if your home is in paradise!) This is NOT somewhere you go for sports, nightlife, entertainment, etc. This is a private place where you make your own fun and you don't have to worry about the world intruding on your vacation.

My wife and I have stayed many times at Rainbow Tree and Rainbow Point Villas. If you are looking for the most relaxing sun filled vacation - look no further. The staff is incredible- within minutes of meeting the staff, you will feel like family. Both villa's facilities are spectacular. Incredible ocean and starry night moonlight views. We would recommend either villa for those who either want a romantic get-a-way, a family with children vacation or friends just hanging out for a week or so. You simply will not be dissappointed at either Rainbow Tree or Rainbow Point. Its our home away from home. A 10-star vacation!
