Cave Canem is perfect.
Joan, Regan & Dorphia are just the best!! We love them like family. They are always so kind and helped us in every way that they could at all times.
The food that Joan and Dorphia prepared for us was Sooo... good - as always. Regan was always there for us with anything we needed.
The landscaping is just beautiful, Regan does an amazing job! We loved the hammock and the sitting spot in front of the ocean is just perfect. Such a good place to meditate and reflect. -

Gorgeous property, private infinity pool with tons of outdoor patios and covered spaces. Also a mostly private beach (a couple of nearby houses might share it with you). Amazing getaway. We have now stayed in the house 4times over the last 4 years with our children and plan to return.
A couple of points to note - there are 4 large bedrooms, but 1 is detached from the house (could be a plus or a minus!). The property is gated and shares the gate with a second home. All service is great with the housekeeper(s) and houseboy taking care of your needs - in our case that meant breakfast every day but no lunches and only 1 dinner during the week, but that was our choice. It also meant cleaning and laundry.
There are only 2 downfalls to this property, and neither has to do with the property itself. One is the location - it is a 2 hour drive from MBJ, and the drive is an extremely curvy and pot-holey road over the mountain. It is not for the faint of heart, and is particularly not good in the dark or rain. I rent a car and drive it myself, but you can also arrange for a driver. However, the second is that there is really only 1 nice restaurant (at the nearby hotel jake's) - everything else is extremely relaxed and a bit grungy - you are very far off the beaten track here. We love spending time this way with our children but 1) staying here without a car would probably be a mistake as there are very few places within walking distance; and 2) we do wish there were more nice dining options nearby.
They can also help you plan a number of excursions, which we've done - a boat on black river, going to YS Falls (a must!), massages on the patio with the waves crashing behind, dinner at jake's, etc etc.
When we stayed, there was decent internet but no TV channels. There was a DVD player and we could also hook up our ipads to the TVs to watch streamed movies. It's my understanding that the owner is looking to upgrade this system - worth checking.

Never thought, you can find such beautiful European styled villa in mid of Caribbean. If you don't like a package vacation, but still want to feel like being cared of, we fully recommend this place. Service was so excellent, we got use to it very quickly. The owners of the villa has been thinking of creating a lot of places in the villa to relax and enjoy the atmosphere of the caribbean nature.

We arrived at night time and were met by Regan and Joanne and shown around this beautiful property. It was difficult to choose which of the bedrooms to use as all are stunning with large ensuite. However it was not until we woke up the next morning that we fully realised that we were in our own personal Shangrila for the next two weeks. Situated just above a private beach with the most beautiful infinity pool this really is a Caribbean paradise.
We did not have to lift a finger, Regan was there to assist with any need and his mother Joanne is the most amazing cook, preparing wonderful authentic Jamaican food as and when we wanted to eat.
We hardly left the property, except for a small excursion to the nearest town, attending a party at Jake's hotel, a five minute walk down the road and a boat trip to the Pelican bar in the middle of the sea (certainly worthwhile trying). This is the most relaxed that I have ever been. We honestly felt as if we were living in some sort of "film set".
I would highly recommend staying at Cave Canem, and hope to return one day. -

This is something special, really special. The house and location would make a good film set. Large house with beautiful rooms, four poster beds draped with mosquito nets, a wonderful patio and pool right in front of the gorgeous Caribbean sea. You have the caretaker, Regan, taking care of your shopping and his mother cooking wonderful real jamaican dishes, so there is really no need to step outside of this Shangrila, in fact we hardly did. But if you do want to mix and mingle you just have to walk 10 minutes to Jake's Hotel which in itself is another small paradise. I cannot recommend Cave Canem highly enough. I promise that you will not be disappointed.

High quality service provided by in-house stuff. Delicious cooking by Joan, fresh deliveries of lobsters, fish or other according to wish. Personell was descrete, almost not visible, but always at the place when neccessary. Gorgeous villa well equipped, lovely and comfortable bedrooms and many places to move during the day. When looking for privacy, you can always find some hidden terrace. Where you can take pictures of "infinity" swimming pool to show to envying friends after returning home. Private beach with nice shells to take home for flowerspots and clear water. If restaurants and some fun needed, everything is in walking distance. Great place for vacation spent in relaxing calm way by couple or partying with group of friends or enjoying family vacation with kids.
