      Great rental on the beach

Left on 02/24/2013 for a stay in February 2013

This was a great find. We were 2 40'ish friends meeting up for some Florida sun. this place seems geared towards families, many with small kids. The pool could be a little hectic with so many kids but better than a "spring break" kind of rental!! Super nice condo. ll units seem to have a Gulf view. The beach was nice and wide. The condo had almost everything you might need. I would go back without hesitation. Great communication from the property manager Jill. Loved not having to keep track of a key - just a coded lock!! Unit 305 was the one we had.

Thank you for staying with us. We find our keyless entry system prevents lots of "lost keys" while swimming! We are a very family friendly destination which can translate to many children having a good time in the pools. It is a great opportunity for the children to meet new friends! Thank you very much for staying with us. We look forward to hosting you again.

      Beautiful Sunsets

Left on 08/01/2012 for a stay in April 2012

Sun vistas was a great place to stay in Treasure Island. The pools were nice and the restaurant/store area had really good food reasonably priced. It was our first visit to Treasure Island and we loved that it was so close, right across the bridge, from John's Passe which had a great shopping village with, live music, great restaurant, lots of shops, pirate ship and much more. Each night I looked forward to being on the balcony to see the magnificnet sunset. We found some great all you can eat crab legs, a unique ice ball shop, and lots of friendly people

      Awesome Resort

Left on 06/21/2012 for a stay in June 2012

This is the best place to stay with small children. We couldn't get them out of the pools (2). It is so family friendly that my kids didn't want to leave. Neither did we for that matter. Everyone is so nice and helpful. Be sure to visit the beach bar and cafe on site. Also the on site management is the way to go. I locked my keys in the room and it wasn't a problem to have them open for us. Off site managements take forever to get there to help you. Book early as they always are busy. Love it!!!

We are thrilled that this guest enjoyed the resort. This is a family friendly resort. However, this guest did not stay with us. We are curious as to how they would be aware of onsite and offsite management? Since neither this guest appers in our registry and the fact that they are trying to plug a different company makes us think that this is a BOGUS REVIEW! Flipkey, please look into this. As far as leaving your key in the room. We offer our guest a keyless entry system. There are no keys to loose!

Left on 06/01/2012 for a stay in May 2012

Spent 3 nights over Memorial weekend. Location is perfect. View spectacular. Not the type of location I usually rent ( usually rustic and remote) but I/ we enjoyed it. Very nicely furnished. Good for a couple and three teenage boys. Six people would be rather crowded.
Easy walking distance to John's pass. Would definitely stay here again.

We came here with another couple for two nights to see the Rays and Red Sox. We all enjoyed the beach as well as the pool and hot tub. The receptionist who checked us in was pleasant and efficient. We arrived a little early, yet were immediately assigned our rooms and were even given an upgrade. The rooms were clean and nicely furnished. The beds were very comfortable. The view was exceptional. We will definitely return and also recommend to friends to stay here when visiting St. Petersburg.

We enjoyed our stay very good location on beach. very clean and comfortable appartment. Clean towels and serviced well. All staff very friendly. Would recomend it to families with children. The only fault is that we could not find any where quiet either small pool or the swimming pool as it was always full of small children and parents so we could not have a swim. We would like to request that a part of the pool is set aside for grown ups only.

Sunset Vista - Makos rentals Condo unit in need of attention!

Left on 05/20/2012 for a stay in March 2012

Stayed here in March 2012 - Spring Break. Rented through Makosvista.com managed by a Century 21 office, not through the resort. They have several condos.

Reason we would give this a poor rating is we felt the unit was poorly taken care of and the management company, which often posts responses on these forums, was misleading and didn't seem to care when I sent them these details after we returned. The only response I got was "we replaced the window blinds and hope your stay was good". We did pay a "cleaning fee" in addition to the weekly rate which obviously wasn't used for that.

The issues we had: Unit sleeps 6 - 2 sleeping on a pull out sofa - it was so thin and disgusting looking I wouldn't let my son sleep on it. They also did not have any bedding for it. If we had needed this for 2 adults we would have been in trouble.

Both bathroom showers had mold issues and we wore shower shoes at all times. The tub had a grimy film on it that I thought was from a gummy bath mat but when I wiped it with a wet-wipe it came off - so apparently housekeeping didn't even both to clean it. There was mold on the caulk surrounding the tub. Couldn't wipe that off. The bath fan didn't work. The sinks did appear to be rinsed out.

Dirty - there was beach sand all over the bedroom floor and nightstand - apparently no one vacuumed? Also a layer of dust on every surface. There was a small vacuum in the unit which was so clogged with debris it didn't pick anything up. Also the broom looked like it was 20 years old and couldn't sweep the sand off the tile. The sliding glass doors with a partial gulf view were filthy, streaked and dirty. No window cleaner in unit. The vertical blinds were literally falling off the track. In fact, there was a pile of them behind the couch, next to several dead bugs.

Kitchen - ice left in sink and sink dirty. We ran the dishes through the dishwasher prior to using. The refrigerator was empty but needed cleaning. No kitchen towels.

Positive side - the property was a great location, the room had a good view - 6th floor - North side. Pool and beach both very nice. Parking easy.

We would stay in this area next time - just not at this resort. Note - we were busy on vacation and chose not to be a pain and cleaned up what we could and made the best of it. We didn't want to spend our vacation complaining and waiting for things that should have been done before we arrived - particularly when you pay what we did.

Thank you for your review. We do appreciate your input. We wish you would have contacted us when you arrived and not after departure. We do post response to all of our reviews and we do help our guest that contact us during their stay. We are sorry that you did not find your unit cleaned to your satisfaction. If you would have called us we would have sent someone to take care of any issues that you had. We did not receive any notice that you were not happy with your unit. Thus, we could not take care of it for you. We are on the property everyday and are happy to correct any issues that you have. Just tell us :) We do acknowledge that you may have had an issue as we just let a cleaning person go after 5 days on the job due to not cleaning the unit properly. Bad employees do happen in any line of work. We are sorry. Again, if you would have let us know we would have been happy to fix anything for you right away. Please note that Century 21 has no affiliation with any management company in Sunset Vista.

Excellent place to stay with family

Left on 04/04/2012 for a stay in March 2012

This was a great place for vacationing with our daughter, son-in-law, and our grandson (2 years old). The 2 BR was all we needed for space and with a pack and play we were all set. Great to have washer/dryer as well. Kitchen could have used a few more dishes/utensils, but we made it work. If you want to make a few easy meals, BYO salt/pepper and condiments as there is nothing. Publix grocery is close by. We bought our own umbrella and beach chairs at Publix and then left them in the "share bin" when we left. Much less expensive than renting every day at the beach.

Thank you so much for staying with us. We are glad you enjoyed the condo and your stay. We do not leave condiments in the unit between guest for safety reasons. The Publix down the street is a great place to pick up anything you need. We usually have chairs/umbrellas in the unit, however, people sometimes leave the chair in the "share bin" and that is why there was not any in the unit. We do not guarantee the chairs/umbrella in the unit due to this issue and the cost associated with it but we are glad you were able to get a couple at the store and that another guest was able to enjoy them. Again, thank you for staying with us and we hope to see you again.

      Wonderfully relaxing and accommodating

Left on 03/29/2012 for a stay in March 2012

We stayed at Sunset Vistas over Spring Break 2012. This was our second stay here (we previously stayed here in 2010). We absolutely love it here. The condos are beautiful and we love the granite countertops, full kitchen, separate bedrooms and balcony. Very clean and relaxing. We went to the grocery store and made use of the full kitchen (all the utensils, dishware, glassware, silverware is right there for you. There's even a toaster and blender. It's a full kitchen). Like the fact that it has a small washer and dryer in each condo. It is a mini home away from home. We really like that it's located directly on the beach. The pool is OK, but it's a nice alternative to the ocean. Nice little Tiki Bar and the staff is very friendly. There is a little cafe if you want a quick bite to eat at the facility.

Plenty to do around the area at John's Pass or you can take a short drive to other locations. There is a small shop next to the condos called "Shake Shop". You will get the best ice cream and shakes you've ever had!

      Nice Stay

Left on 03/26/2012 for a stay in March 2012

Stayed for seven days with husband and college-aged daughter. Smaller condos - I would think that anymore than four people would be tight. We stayed in a condo on the north side. I recommend this since you can then catch the sunset from your balcony. Within walking distance to John's Pass. Convenience store across the street. The complex has a pool and it was very crowded. After having stayed there, I feel that it was nice, but a bit overpriced.

The south side provides the morning sun and the north side is the afternoon sun. The west faces the Gulf of Mexico directly. During spring break there are many guest enjoying the pools and beach. The weather has been fantastic. If this guest would have rented thru www.sunsetvistacondos.com they would have not felt like they payed to much :) We hope you will try us for your next visit.

You really pay for the beach views. The condo unit was a little run down. Rusty shower curtain rod, tile grout needed redone. The unit was also really small, 4 adults were cramped. Only a small sofa and one chair in living area. No restaurant on site and not walking distance to the good restaurants.

Although this guest may have stayed in Sunset Vista they did not rent through us. We do not have this guest registered with us nor do we have this e mail as a guest. This has been a consistent problem with flipkey as discussed in other reviews.
We have recently added a new sofa and chair to all of our units and we have just had our floors professionally cleaned. Non of our units have a rusty shower rod. There are several agents who rent in Sunset Vista. We are Makos Vista rental company. We invite you to rent with us next time for a nice unit and probably a better rate.
Each 2/2 unit in Sunset Vista is the same size. 870 square feet. This is stated in our advertising. There is a queen bed in each bedroom and a queen pull out sofa, a dining table for four and a breakfast bar for two.
There is a cafe onsite that serves breakfast, lunch, pizzas etc. I am not sure why this guest said there is not a restaurant on site. There is also a tiki bar that serves food.
We are 1/4 mile from John's Pass bridge which is home to John's Pass Village and many restaurants to choose from. There is also a very nice restaurant a 1/4 south.

Thank you for your review. I am guessing you were speaking of the repainting and sealing of the hallway floors. In December 2011 we repainted all of the exterior walkways. It is hard to choose when to do this type of work so we did it in ealy December which is typically a little slower for us. We are sorry if you were bothered by the updates. We hope you enjoy the result! Other than that we are thrilled that you enjoyed your stay! We hope to see you again.

Well furnished condo right on the beach

Left on 12/02/2011 for a stay in November 2011

We recently rented a 2 bedroom, 2 bath "partial gulf" view condo at Sunset Vista Condos. The condos are in a "u" shape, with a north, west (parallel to the gulf) and south wings. We were in 404S, which had a view of both the street and the gulf, which was fine for us. The condo had a large living area, with a couch, chair and flat screen TV. Each bedroom also had a TV, albeit smaller. The kitchen was stocked with enough glasses, cutlery, plates, utencils and pots and pans to easily feed six people. One downside, which we had been warned about, is that you need to supply your own soap, shampoo, laundry and dishwashing soap. Also, there is no maid service, although with a washer and dryer in the unit, you can wash towels if that is a necessity. There is a large grocery store about a mile from the condo, so stocking up on food and supplies is not difficult. Each condo renter is assigned one parking space.

There is one adult pool, which kids are allowed in with adult supervision. It could get somewhat loud with several young kids in the pool. The pool is not heated, so it was somewhat chilly to go in. Plenty of empty chairs around the pool, but we were there during the "off season", as many condos were not being used. The beach is huge, although not used much. You can walk both north and south along the beach for several blocks.

There are a few dining options in Treasure Island, and many more the further north you go down the main drag. St. Petersburg is 5 minutes away, Clearwwater about 15-20 minutes north.

Thank you very much for your review. Each unit in Sunset Vista is individually owned. Sometimes flip-key publishes reviews from guest other than ours as there are 150 units and we have 20. We are happy to say that flipkey got it correct this time. When reading reivews you can always check to see if they belong to Makos Vista by viewing our website at sunsetvistacondos.com and cross-checking the unit number. We would like to thank this guest for staying with us. Each of our units has a washer and dryer, dishwasher etc. Since we rent our units on a weekly basis the guest is correct. We do not supply the week worth of laundry degergent (we used to but everyone likes a different brand:) ). When renting a private condo or home there is housekeeping service prior to and after your stay, but not during. On average the pool heater is turned on every year in November. However, our average temperature is over 80 degrees as of this writing and that may be why the pool heater is not on yet. There are two hot tubs that are heated year round. We apologize if you felt the pool was chilly. We will address this with the condo association. We are glad you enjoyed our beautiful beach. Thank you very much for staying with us during your stay. We hope to see you again.

Nice place and great access to beach

Left on 08/11/2011 for a stay in August 2011

My husband, 19 year old son, and I stayed for a week at Sunset Vista. We rented 211S from Jill. It had a nice view of the beach. The condo had everything in it that we needed: beach towels, beach chairs, dishes, pots and pans, etc. The condo has 2 pools - one for young kids and one for the rest. The pool was never that crowded nor was the beach. I believe the condo complex was sold out for the week, but it never felt crowded there. There was a Tiki bar available near the pool but we felt it was too expensive so we ended up buying our own beer for the condo instead of socializing with other guests. There was also a cafe with limited hours but we did not buy anything there. John Pass - a shopping village with touristy items, jet skis, boat tours and some restaurants like Bubba Gump Shrimp Co., Hooters, Skully's and a few more was right across the bridge within .8 miles.
The only con I would say was the water noise in the master bedroom. We had to keep the bathroom door closed or the noise would wake us up. It sounded like waterfalls from the upstairs condo. I've never heard a noise like that before. Also, it says it will sleep 6, but I feel that 6 would feel a little too crowded. Four people would be most comfortable.

Thank you for your review. We are thrilled you enjoyed your stay.
We agree that we feel the tiki which is not managed by us is too expensive. That it why it is so nice to have a condo with a full kitchen to store all of your own goodies (including margaritas!). The cafe is open for breakfast and lunch and provides a nice view of the tropical courtyard. It is nice for a quick bite if you don't feel ike making anything, This building was built in 2006 and we have not heard of any "water running" issues, however, we will be sure to check into that for you. Some families do require sleeping arrangements for six guest so in addition to the two queen beds in the unit we do offer a pull out queen sofa bed to accomodate them. Hope to see you again!

      Wonderful, Relaxing Family Vacation!

Left on 06/11/2011 for a stay in May 2011

The unit we rented, 611S, had a wonderful view of the gulf and lots of space for myself, my husband, and our two daughters, ages 17 and 21. The beach was so accessible and the pool had more chairs available than any other place we've stayed! We will definitely recommend Sunset Vista to friends and hope to return soon!

Perfect area, perfect condo, perfect family vacation!!!

Left on 05/20/2011 for a stay in June 2010

Jill is wonderful to work with. The parking is right below the unit (502N is where we stayed). There is a tiki bar that plays music and serves drinks right across from the ocean and the sand. The baby pool was a good feature. Gorgeous beaches and just a walk down from the pier. Not too busy and not too "off the beaten path". It was a wonderful experience and if / when we go back we will stay here again. Thanks!!!

Great introduction to the West Coast of Florida

Left on 10/17/2010 for a stay in August 2010

Our daughter was enrolling in her first year of college in the nearby Tampa area and we had not been to the gulf coast of Florida before. So where do you book with two teenage students (boy/girl) and two parents? Sunset Vistas was the answer. The unit that we rented had two bedrooms with sleeper couch in the living room. It is located on the beach and has two pools - one baby pool and a regular pool. It also has a coffee shop and beach side bar.

The unit was very clean and had the bonus of a washer/dryer. It also had a view of the beach, so the sunsets were really spectacular.

One thing that I liked was the box by the beach that encouraged people to "share" their inflatables, boogie boards, flippers, umbrellas or other beach equipment that you might not be taking back with you. I took advantage of a boogie board one morning.

One other thing that I liked was the assigned parking that you get on check in. So rather then look for parking each time you return you know exactly where your parking space is. This really helps especially with groceries.

The management keeps the property clean and safe for you to enjoy your vacation.

Nice Place in Treasure Island Florida

Left on 11/05/2009 for a stay in October 2009

My family and I stayed at Sunset Vistas in Treasure Island, FL recently and had a great time. We rented a 2-bedroom, 2-bath condo from Jill at Mako's Vista. We were very pleased with the condo and the entire property. The condo was very clean and was stocked with extras like dish detergent, laundry detergent, etc, and there were items like beach chairs and a cooler for our use. Jill was very pleasant to deal with and helpful in suggesting restaurants and grocery stores in the area. She also suggested places that we should visit (you have to check out nearby Fort DeSoto Beach - it was beautiful!). The kids loved the pool areas (there is a regular pool, a kiddie pool and two hot tubs). All in all, we had a great time and I would definitely recommend this place to my friends. In fact, we are already planning another trip there in the spring!

Beautiful condo on a Beautiful Beach

Left on 11/02/2009 for a stay in October 2009

We rented this two bedroom condo for our family vacation this October. The condo was wonderful. Very clean, well stocked and in a perfect location. We loved not having to eat out every meal and that there was a washer and dryer in the unit. The beach is beautiful. Nice white sand and beautiful shelling. The pools are perfect for a family. Our little one enjoyed the kiddie wading pool. Lots of things to with a family. We went on a pirate boat ship cruise that the kids loved. We will be back. Hopefully, sooner than later!
