Beautiful location and nice size rooms

Left on 03/19/2013 for a stay in March 2013

We stayed at the Island inn 4 nights and had a gulf view room. Our room was very large with a small kitchen which was great for keeping beer/food cold and making breakfast. Room was very clean, hotel is older and our unit needs some updating but was nice. Our room had new owners so I'm sure as time goes on they will do some updating. Only issue we had was getting our room cleaned daily. Pool was very nice and the bar had drink specials. Everyone was very friendly and room rates were dirt cheap for being right on the gulf.

      Great Room

Left on 07/29/2012 for a stay in July 2012

We stayed in Island Inn 610 in mid-July.The hotel is very nice, and was very clean. The elevators are fast and the stairs are easy to access. We stayed Saturday-Saturday, and we noticed from Mon-Thurs, the hotel was deserted.During our entire stay, I think we shared an elevator with other guests a total of 4 times! The hotel is perfectly located on the beach, and is surrounded by small condos, so the beach was never very crowded.Parking was abundant during the week, but on the weekends we had to park across the street.Walking distance to Publix and several restaurants. The room was very nice. The ceilings seemed to be very high for a hotel room and made it feel very spacious. The kitchen was adequate for us since we didn't do much cooking, but I did have to clean the coffee pot as it was clear it had not been properly cleaned. The bed was comfortable, but it could be improved by bolting the headboard to the wall. It's attached to the bed frame, but it's not attached to the wall. So, you have to pull it away from the wall at night or it bangs up against the wall when someone moves. The fitted and flat sheets were of low quality, so I would suggest bringing your own linens. When we got in bed, we noticed the fitted sheet was the only thing between us and the mattress, which made me feel gross.I found a mattress pad on the bottom side of the spring mattress for whatever reason, so we had to remake the bed before sleeping. When I was unpacking I was barefoot.By the time I was done, my feet were black. I know we couldn't have tracked in all that dirt just bringing in our bags. The rugs could use a real cleaning. The last suggestion I have is to replace the showerhead. The water pressure and temperature were both very good, but felt a lot like a dull fire hose.We loved the furniture! It's so beach-y and was in very good condition.Overall, we were very happy with our stay, just a few suggestions for the owners.I would definitely recommend this hotel and this particular room.

Fantastic Location right on the beach

Left on 03/17/2012 for a stay in March 2012

My husband and I stayed at the island Inn Mar5-11,2012. This hotel/condo although fairly old, was a fantastic location right on the gulf beach. There is nothing better than waking up in the morning and seeing that beautiful green/blue water greeting you, and the sunset from our balcony was lovely.
The room that we had was a studio, but it was very clean and offered appliances and dishware, everything needed for our stay.
My only suggestion since the room we stayed in was owned privately, that a couple of beach chairs and beach towels be provided for guests as there were none and we had to rent from the hotel at $10/day each person.
This hotel is a little south on gulf blvd of all shops and restaurants, so you would need to have a car to get around, but this was not an issue.
Jerry the manager at sandcastle realty who we booked through, was very friendly and very accommodating, we flew into Tampa on a red eye flight that took over 11 hours and I had asked if we could check in early if the room was ready and Jerry was very accommodating and let us check in around noon...
Overall, we had a wonderful time due to the Island Inn being right on the beach, you can't beat that!
