  A friend and I stayed in room 307 at the Island Inn for a week in March 2013.
  I'll start with the good stuff:
  We reserved through iTrip, which was a pleasant experience. The room pictures were fairly accurate...kitchen is very basic, as is the bathroom. The fridge, cooking area, sink, bathroom, sheets were all clean and in good order when we arrived.
  Two beach chairs and an umbrella, plus 2 beach towels, were provided with the rental. They provide some dish soap, sponges, towels (paper and cloth) garbage bags and TP to get you started. The hotel has 2 volleyball courts in the sand, a pool, and gass grills for customer use. Coffee/tea is available in the lobby all the time, as is a computer with internet access (wi-fi in the lobby, too). They also have paddle boards, but you cannot use them if you rent through anyone other than the hotel office.
  And now for the rest:
  They key we originally picked up at a lock box didn't work. A hotel maintenance man saw us having issues and kindly let us in (he shouldn't do that, since we didn't rent through the hotel office). In the room, we found a key on the table that worked. I called and someone from iTrip came within 15 minutes with another working key. While waiting, we noticed a very dirty a/C unit. I pointed out the dirty unit (plenty of dust - nothing that you'd want blowing into the room) and he agreed to have someone come the next day and clean it (he was actually the one that came back to correct the situation).
  After staying in the room for a day, other dirty issues became apparent.
  The floor tiles hadn't been truly scrubbed clean in awhile. That was evident in the entryway, closet, bathroom...I tried cleaning with a paper towel and dish soap out of curiosity, and stuff did come off, so I know it wasn't the color of the tile!
  The entry/bathroom doors had dirty smudges on them as did the baseboards - and the baseboards had quite an accumulation of dust. The floor in the closet had dirt, dust, sand...definitely hadn't been cleaned in awhile.
  Upon arrival, we found a kitchen outlet that didn't work and a bathroom bulb was out. The entry door faces the road and doesn't seal well, so road noise was evident. There's a sliding door to the balcony, but no screen. Per iTrip, the property owner had them all removed for some reason (but we could see a few units from the pool that had screens...?)
  Overall, I'd say attention to detail was missing. At least 1 other review of the Island Inn recommended renting a unit that was privately owned b/c it would be in better shape than the ones rented through the office. After renting this unit, I'm not sure that's the case.
  I emailed my concerns to iTrip, hoping that they would address the issues so future renters would have a better experience. They replied... said they took my comments very seriously and had addressed the issues with the cleaners. Even though the room wasn't quite as good as expected, working with iTrip was a good experience.
  
  Although this might sound like a terrible review, our stay was OK. I would still recommend the Island Inn for a reasonably priced place to stay. The people working at the hotel were very pleasant and helpful; the hotel amenities were good. The location is good, too. If our room was cleaner, it would have been perfect!
