An ex-chapel next to "Vanzetti" on the Collina estate, Chiesina has now been converted into a delightful little house for two. The Collina estate has been in the same family for over 400 years, and the charming owner is helpful and very knowledgeable about the area.
Chiesina has its own dining pergola and outside space, sharing the main garden and swimming pool with I Vanzetti. The main body of the chapel has been left untouched, used as a sitting room. The kitchen, bathroom and bedroom have been built into the apse, with a precision reminiscent of a sailing boat. The double bed is on a mezzanine floor, reached by a narrow staircase, tu...cked under the apse roof. The kitchen and bathroom are built in underneath, hidden behind wooden panelled fronts.
Chiesina is a charming conversion, a privileged hideaway, despite sharing the pool and main garden. Emilia Romagna is the region of good cooking: Tortellini, Parma ham, Parmesan cheese, Bolognese ragu', ravioli are all from this area. Tredozio itself, the small town at the foot of the hill, boasts a Michelin starred restaurant whose chef will come and cook for you in La Collina; a gourmet's dream. Tredozio also hosts concerts during the summer ranging from Jazz to Chamber music, and has tennis courts, shops and restaurants.

You know how sometimes the pictures on a website look different when you arrive at your destination?
Well, this wasn't the case here. The place was beautiful. The location was beyond my expectation. The host met us in town and we followed her to the property.
The next day she came to make sure everything was fine and helped us make some reservations. She gave us a personal tour of her manor at the top of the hill. The age and craftsmanship of the house and the furnishing were awesome.

La Chiesina is tucked away at the end of a private road and has superb
views down the valley to Tredozio.
The accommodation really is converted out of an old chapel and, while
tiny, is ideal for a couple.
It does share a pool with a villa which is next door - but the week we
stayed that (the villa not the pool) was empty (ideal!).
La Chiesina does have its own patio and barbecue and is in a fantastic
Tredozio has a couple of shops and restaurants which can provide just
about everything you need, but nearby Faenza is worth a visit and it's
within easy-ish reach of Bologna.
Be warned - Florence looks close on a map but is the other side of a
mountain and it takes hours of slow driving on small, winding roads to
All in all a great place for a couple looking for a romantic hideaway. Read more
I'm so glad you like it - it is in a little known area of Tuscany, right on the border of Emilia Romagna but I think all of the Contessa's houses are lovely - and she is a very considerate host. Thanks for this review. Dan W.
