'Shicley', named after Bishop Shicley, is a charming, attractive and sympathetic stone cottage conversion, with state of the art underfloor heating system makes it comfortable for year round occupation. Thoughtful furnishings, fully dimming lighting systems and heavy beamed ceilings make Shicley a stunning place to spend a holiday. Approximately half way between St. Davids and Fishguard within a few hundred yards of the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path and on the route of the local service bus and walkers shuttle bus. A perfect base for exploring the many inland and coastal walks in the area.

Shicley is one of four cottage and barn conversions on the same site (The others are Môrawel sleeps 4+ cot, Shicley sleeps 4+ cot and The Cowshed sleeps 4+ cot and are also available to let from Character Cottages of St.Davids, Pembrokeshire.) Shicley is one of 4, 4 Star holiday cottages on the same site, a former farm in the heart of the Pembrokeshire coast national park, Britain's only coastal national park set in13 acres of it's own land, a stones throw from the Pembrokeshire coat path and the beautiful Aberfelin cove, within easy reach of the Cathedral City of St.Davids and Whitesands beach as well as many other of Pembrokeshire's famous Blue and Green Flag beaches. Shicley is accessed via a short farm track, off a quiet B road 7 miles from St.Davids and 7 miles from Fishguard.

  Great rural location and lovely clean & comfortable cottage

  We spent a great week staying in Shicley with my fiance and a couple of friends (another couple) & dog mid July 2012 and found the accommodation, clean, comfortable and well equipped.
  The cottage is based in a lovely peaceful, rural location that's close to lots of lovely beaches, walks, and the pubs and restaurants of St Davids and Solva. At the front of the cottage are views out to the coast and sea and horses in the adjoining field.
  The cottage is well equipped and tastefully decorated and the beds very comfortable. As two couples, admittedly Shicley wasn't an ideal cottage for us as the second bedroom has twin beds and the ceiling between the ground floor and upstairs was simply floorboards with no sound proofing / insulation. However, we were very lucky that the owner offered to let use the next door cottage, Moravel too which was free part way through the week.
  Moravel is also a lovely cottage, with the same style of rustic decor so we had plenty of space. Shicley would be more suited to a couple and children due to the small twin room, whereas Moravel has a larger twin room that would be more suited to either families or one couple only. Being offered the additional use of Moravel meant myself and my partner could use the double room in Moravel whilst our friends stayed in Shicley which was very kind of the owner as it gave us more space and privacy.
  The kitchen was well equipped enough for us to cook some lovely meals (though we could have done with some scales & a ladle) and we also had meals out, including a yummy meal at the Shed in Porthgain. The cottages also have freeview TV, a hi-fi and games & books.
  There's a little cove and beach just a short walk from the cottages and lots of choice for beaches and numerous walks a little further afield.
  We also booked a couple of days coasteering and sea kayaking with TYF in St Davids which was fab! I also spent a day mountain biking / cycling around the lanes and bridleways from the cottage out to Fishguard. Unfortunately the area doesn't have many bridleways or mountain bike type trails as it's mostly coastal footpaths but there are plenty of quiet country lanes to explore.
  All in all, we had a great holiday and would definitely stay at either Shicley or Moravel again.
