This waterfront home is gracious and bright, with a wall of windows overlooking the bay. Extraordinary views abound in the tastefully decorated great room with bamboo floors and seating for six at the dining table. The kitchen is fully equipped with stainless steel appliances, and the living area is warmed on cool summer nights by a Tree of Life gas fireplace. The master bedroom (with queen bed) has more wide open views, flat screen tv with Google TV service, and a private bath with deep tub. House is beautiful -- stainless appliances in kitchen, washer/dryer, large beautiful anderson windows, very well laid out, spacious & clean. Modern interior, fixtures, lighting & furnishings. Flat screen TVs. Wood floors in common spaces, carpet in bedrooms. Plus large basement with ping pong & foosball tables. Gas grill. All conveniences you need. Plus, 2 kayaks & lifejackets. Master bath has a beautiful stand-alone tub. Plenty of sheets & towels, and everything was very clean. Also, very private and hidden from other homes, so keep the windows open and blinds up to enjoy the breezes and the night/early morning sounds from the woods & shore.
Beach consists of small rocks (and also larger boulders -- kids love to climb on them). Beach is littered with shells for treasure hunting. No waves (it's on the Union river Bay), but it's neat to see the difference between high & low tides -- little tide pools end up along the shore. Kayaking at low tide is fantastic -- we saw sea urchins, startfish, sand dollars, and large crabs.
For rainy days, there is a storage bench filled with at least a hundred Dvds -- they appeared to all be family-friendly. Plus, the wifi connection was very good.
Ellsworth is about a 10-15 minute drive (for groceries & supplies -- there's also a Walmart there), and then Bar Harbor is about 25 minutes.
One of the great things -- there is no security deposit. Rather, she takes out a rental insurance for you (approx $50, non refundable), and then you don't have to worry about getting the deposit back at the end. Very smart and convenient.
If we go back to acadia, I would definitely rent this place again.
