VancouverCharming spot in the middle of it all

I absolutely loved my stay in 'The Other House' as it was clean, central and had most of the comforts of home. Ian was very friendly, quick to offer tips for what to see/do and was flexible with my check-in and out times. Clearly a heritage home, it oozes charm and history from its walls and floorboards; the walls are decorated with old maps of Nfld and with local artists' works. As a bonus, it's also stocked with classic books to read in between sightseeing.
The only thing that would push this place over the top would be having the kitchen stocked with staples like cooking oil, rice and tea. There was coffee/sugar available and there was no blender despite being advertised as having one. Otherwise, the beds were comfortable and it was a nice touch having a bunch of local artists Cd's to complete the experience.
I'd also recommend having dinner at the Twine Loft, located just a few steps away in the artisan Inn. The staff there were beyond welcoming and accommodating to my dietary needs. The food was served with a fine attention to detail and flavour and the view cannot be beat. Make sure you check out the upstairs as there are a bunch of travel books/maps/brochures that will help you plan your trip. On a nice day, take advantage of their patio and curl up with a good book wrapped inside one of their blankets they keep for guests = heaven!
Thank you Ian for the great place to hang my hat during my time in Trinity. -

St. John's Newfoundland and LabradorThe Blue House
Left on 08/03/2012 for a stay in July 2012
Early in 2012, my wife attended a fund raiser for a local elementary school where our son attended grades K-6. The focus of the fund raiser was a silent auction and my wife placed the winning bid on a 2-night stay in Trinity, NL. The prize included two nights in the 'Other House Vacation Home' as well as a lunch at the local 'Trinity Mercantile'. The owner of both had donated this prize to the school fund raiser. Anyway, in July of this year we headed off to Trinity, with family dog in tow by the way, to spend three days in this jewel of a community. We had visited Trinity before and each time had rented space in another B&B.; However, this time we had an entire house to ourselves, a house that had been built in the 19th century and recently restored with the utmost care and respect. A perfect blend of history and modern tools of comfort. Mr. White, the owner, has provided a unique accommodation option for visitors to Trinity, one that we will most certainly tap into again. We especially appreciated the opportunity to bring our small dog along on this short vacation. The service provided by Mr. White and his staff was solid. Check out the photos of the 'Other House' (locally referred to as the blue house') to get a sense of the interior. My only suggestion to Mr. White is that he maintain the 'availability calendar' on the website. It provides the casual browser a quick idea as to rental availability, a precursor to contacting the owner about specifics.
