Salona - beautiful stone home in Trogir old town

Salona is located in one of the most beautiful parts of the old town of Trogir. Salona has been fully rebuilt and restored to a very high standard in accordance with standards set by UNESCO which ensure the façades of buildings in Trogir remain unchanged and reflect original construction methods. The interior of Salona is simple and luxurious and captures the spirit of Dalmatia with clever use of stone, timber and glass. A custom built Italian spiral staircase connects the kitchen on the ground floor, the large bathroom and the sitting area on the first floor and the sun lit, airy bedroom on the top floor.

The home was completely reb...uilt during February, March and April 2012. The exterior stone was restored to its original state and the interior was then rebuilt and restored. Locals tell us the building was constructed in 3 stages over the last 500 years and the exterior remains unchanged as required by UNESCO, but beautifully restored. Inside, the restoration is a mix of tradition and modern facilities including stone walls and Italian tiles.

Interior decorative features include beautiful kilims from Sarajevo in Bosnia and Turgutköy in Turkey, a rare Schalmei horn produced in the former East Germany and found in a street stall in Sofia, Bulgaria and a traditional Croatian peka cooking oven.

Salona is located in the old town of Trogir in one of the best residential areas of the town. There is no parking or cars permitted in the old town which ensures Trogir retains its historical feel and Dalmatian atmosphere. All facilities are within 5 minutes' walk from Salona including large carparks, the bus station and the stops for small boats which take visitors to Split and the lovely fishing villages on island Ciovo. The terminal for the ferry which visits some of the larger nearby islands is also only a short walk away. Salona offers visitors a special opportunity to live luxuriously in the old town, enjoy Trogir's museums and historic sights, dine at the many restaurants, take to the water in a small boat, stock up at local fish and fruit & vegetable markets, visit nearby beaches or simply relax in one of the old town's best accommodation options.
