UKPerfect apartments in a nearly perfect location.
Left on 04/28/2013 for a stay in February 2013
We chose these apartments as we wanted to do our own thing, eat when and where we wanted, and avoid a large hotel complex, and these apartments fit the bill perfectly.
A welcome pack was provided of fruit, cereal, water, coffee etc. which was appreciated late on a Sunday night!
Ann-Sophie was on hand daily, always with a smile, asking if we were ok and always helpful with all our requests.
We stayed for 10days and completely relaxed. There was a handful of other guests in other apartments but most of the time we had the pool area and loungers to ourselves which was great! We loved the view from the balcony, with a bit of people watching thrown in as people walked past (slowly so they could have a look in at the complex!)
The apartments are immaculate, thanks to the army of cleaners who do a very thorough job 6days, even asking what time would you like them to come - allowing for a daily lie in :)
We highly recommend the 'cooked in house' curry service - we wish we'd done it earlier than on our last night as it was fantastic.
Apartments are equipped with everything you need for cooking, the bbq and utensils, plastic plates etc for the pool/beach - you name it. Also satellite tv, DVD player, iPod dock...fantastic.
So what's the downside?? The apartments are at the far end of Trou aux Biches - a good 20min walk to the small but well stocked supermarket, and 30min to the main (lovely long and golden) beach at Trou aux Biches, mostly along the road. We thought that would be fine for us as we tend to walk to most places at home - of course, the difference being the Mauritian heat made it feel a lot further! We also thought we'd enjoy a wander along the beach daily, but it was a bit rough and ready with stones, scrub and flotsam along it.
We did hire a car a couple of days and stocked up our cupboards (and also toured the island).
We did consider hiring taxis but quotes of about £25each way to Grand Baie were a bit more expensive than we had anticipated.
Thankfully the great '1974' restaurant was a 15-20min walk away for a lovely evening meal out. We also ate at the hotel next door on the first night as very little else was open being Sunday and it was an easy option when you haven't got your bearings - be warned, it's not cheap and buffet only on Sunday so works out very expensive when you just want a small meal before bed!
Also the bit of beach the apartments are on is just not that great. There is a lagoon area around the corner but that's about it unless you walk round/bus to the main beach.
Thankfully as the pool area was mostly ours (!) we didn't miss it too much, and did walk along to the beach a couple of times to snorkel.
So in a nutshell, the accommodation is fantastic with a great pool, but a rather average bit of beach - but if it were on the perfect beach it would no doubt be twice the price! -

We stayed here in a 3 bedroom apartment for 9 days during new year and cyclone Dumile. There simply is nothing what so ever to fault with these apartments, nothing has been left to chance and no expense spared on the quality of the appliances, bed linen and furniture. The apartment was spotless, the service amazing! The kitchen had every imaginable utensil, crockery etc, I'd you thought that you needed something, all you do is open a draw and it is there. Definitely the best equipped apartment we have ever stayed in. The webber BBQ on our balcony was a huge plus and something we used on a regular basis. I would not stay anywhere else in Mauritius .

Upmarket and clean accommodation. The apartments are serviced daily by their very friendly staff who go out of their way to make you comfortable and feel at home. The sea views are outstanding from all the apartments but I would recommend that you take a ground floor apartment if you have children so that you have easier access to the pool and the beach. The beach is not for swimming but a two minute walk and you can swim at the hotel beach next door. No restaurants in the area so need a car so that you can get to them or to buy groceries from the closest supermarket which is about 2km away.

We spent a week at the Plage Bleue apartment with our three young children aged between 3 and 7. The apartment was clean, well-equipped and very well maintained. Our children loved it. The pool was excellent and very clean. The staff were very kind and welcoming. We loved it so much that we wanted to extend our stay. We've stayed in apartments and hotels all over the world but this one was really special. It felt so homely...perfect for the family. The location on the beach, the pool, the facilities inside such as the washer/dryer, well-stocked kitchen and spacious bathrooms really made our holiday outstanding. We won't hesitate to stay at the Plage Bleue again and in fact highly recommend the premium apartments.

SingaporeSimply Fabulous!
Left on 06/21/2012 for a stay in June 2012
Simply put, we had the most fabulous stay in Mauritius for two weeks. My husband and I had decided to get married in Mauritius, and needed to house 20 family and friends. We book the 4 beachfront apartments. Every single person loved the apartments.
Everything in the apartment was good quality - from kitchen appliances (nespresso machines, ovens, cooking ware) to bathroom amenities (plush/beach towels, hair dryers). The beds were super comfortable! The apartments were cleaned nicely everyday (except Sunday) and cleanliness levels were good!
Nicholas (property manager) and his crew were the most helpful! This created a super hospitable environment, and made us feel at home immediately. We also had a bbq one night, and Nicholas and his team did a wonderful job with the bbq-ing and even to the extent of staying late to ensure that the whole family had a good time.
Each time we needed something, be it transportation or any questions that we had, Nicholas always tried his best to help out. What I really like is the fact that he not only goes out of the way to help us, he also ensures that the solution is the most logical and economical. It is such service that creates a heartwarming experience for all of us.
Also, the property provides a concierge service that allows us to book tours / services for the family. The rates provided were very competitive against market prices, cheaper in fact perhaps because of our large group of people.
Everything was done in good taste, from the point of us making the reservations (Marika is such a darling!) to the last day of our holiday in Mauritius. We were sad to say goodbye to the apartments, and to Nicholas and his team as well.
We are very appreciative of the efforts that have been put in, to make the trip a super memorable one. Our wedding would be remembered fondly by everyone, thanks to all the efforts put in by the team.
Thank you!Response from Horizon Holidays - 06/21/2012

Fabulous apartment - totally new. All amenities - aircon, wifi, huge flat screen tv, nespresso machine ipod dock - and the world's most silent washing machine. Sea view from bedroom and sitting room. Breakfasts on the terrace watching the sea - what more could you ask for? Special mention for Nicolas who went out of his way to make sure we were 100% satisfied. Away from noise and traffic but not so remote that we ever felt too far from things. Some good restaurants nearby and a short taxi ride into Grand Baie - even shorter to Mont Choisy beach. Cannot be faulted.

Super apartment - immaculately clean and and thoughtfully furnished with every possible requirement.
The pool is of an excellent design which allows plenty of space to get some real exercise, and the shallow section is ideal for children.
Staff were most helpful, especially Nicolas who was most helpful indeed on our arrival -

KentWe made the perfect choice - Plage Bleue
Left on 03/13/2012 for a stay in March 2012
After much searching, we followed our instinct, and booked two weeks at Plage Bleue which we booked direct with Horizon. We could not have made a better choice. Recently opened (Dec), these beautiful apartments are very well appointed , and have everything you might want, from cooking equipment to an iPhone dock and a BBQ.
The staff are very friendly and helpful as you would expect, and go out of their way to help with booking a taxi, table at a restaurant, hire car etc. The complex manager arranged a Chinese take-away our first night, delicious. During our stay, we had a birthday and wedding anniversary to celebrate. Horizon made sure we won't forget our anniversary . They had a chef come to our apartment to cook a meal for us. We wasn't sure what to expect, but really enjoyed it. A different take on the 'dinner on the beach'. The only cooking we did was on the BBQ.
The apartments are about 15 minutes from Grand Baie where you will find bars, restaurants etc. There is a new shopping centre with a massive Super U supermarket. We used cabs, but there are buses passing all the time. There are restaurants, shops and an aTM about 20 minutes walk along the beach from the apartments. We taxied out and strolled back stopping for a beer half way.
The beach directly in front of the apartments is ok for a stroll along and a paddle, but rocky, so you need to walk 100 mtrs along the beach to an area in front of the Veranda hotel that has been cleared for a swim. We would have a walk and a dunk to cool down, before coming back to the pool. There are big beaches five minutes each way in a car.
Although there a fortnight, we only had a car for a couple of days. We had thought we would have had one for at least a week - just got busy relaxing.
Our biggest regret is not getting to see the beaches at the south of the Island, or the Port Louis market. Still, it's a good excuse to go back.
All in all, I think we stayed at a great place in that we weren't isolated. The apartments gave us a sense of freedom compared to a hotel.
Thanks to all at Horizon for a great trip. -
