We did a last minute booking on President's weekend and Nicole was able to get us squared away in just one phone call. We also got a small discount, which we greatly appreciated. The cabin was exceptionally clean and very comfortable to stay in. We were just 20 minutes from Squaw valley which was another huge plus. The abundance of sleeping room made it great for a crowd like ours. We enjoyed cooking in the huge kitchen space and the bench dinner table brought us all closer together during meal time. I do wish wifi or some sort of broadband was available so we could look up local attractions, but that wasn't a big deal. Overall 5/5, I will definitely book again.

Hansing is a great house for a couple families with kids to share. The location is great. We just sledges behind the house with our young kids. The kitchen is extremely well stocked, and most people seem to leave condiments do you don't need to bring them. The living space and the deck are great for daytime hanging out.
The linens, pillows and blankets, especially in the loft bedroom, are old and funky. Also, the description says "lots of critters around" which means that the owners have displayed their hunting trophies all around, including a huge bear hanging over the upstairs balcony. A little creepy. I also expected 2 bedrooms on the main level as per description, but there is a lower level where those bedrooms are. The master is on the main floor, then the loft upstairs. The house was also difficult to heat evenly.
Overall we had a great stay, but may look for something that fits our family better. -

We went with family and friends. House is comfortable and very spacious to accommodate 10 people. All basic amenities are working and very good back yard view.

Everything about the house was great - very comfortable / accommodating, etc.
Only gripes were that it's quite a bit more expensive over xmas holidays (but that's supply and demand). Also, the snow clearing service was pretty good, but they came early in the am on our last day and it snowed another 4 inches or so after they cleared. So we had a little digging to do to get out. -

After searching on-line for just the right cabin to rent for a winter family get together, Hansing's Lair was perfect. We had 9 people in our party and this cabin had PLENTY of room. Everyone had their own room, and we especially like the upstairs kids playroom/bedroom. They loved it!
The living araea was cozy and the kitchen had everything we needed for a big family dinner.
I do not have one negative thing to say about this property and we will stay there again.

Hansing's Lair is conveniently located in the Tahoe Donner area, on one of the main roads into the area. The home sits at the bottom of a steep downhill driveway. When we were there the driveway had quite a bit of built up ice on it, with just a small amount of snow on top of the ice. It made exiting the home difficult, even with four wheel drive and snow rated tires. The home is very spacious and nicely furnished, and the kitchen is well equipped. The master bedroom bath is luxurious. There is a sizable deck off the great room, and a loft upstairs. This home would be inappropriate for anyone who has a difficulty climbing stairs.
